I've seen those theatre snipes used like this (on window cards I believe):

Cool. Where/What are the dated ones from (Thur and Fri etc)

They are from the 50s, keeping in the theme of the posters.  I've seen them as snipes on window cards every once in awhile. I have a "double feature" coming, not sure where it will go yet.  Dilemmas, dilemmas.

Cool stuff, Jim!

I think the wall was covered in sheet metal and then painted

Looking at the paneling on the wall that is a good call.

Looks and sounds about right ... that blood red wall shade can't disguise all and it looks great!

I wanted to create a billboard effect for an exhibit of political posters. As metal paint is quite expensive and hard to apply, the iron parts make it very thick and uneven, I decided to go gung-ho. I just made a rough framework without too much measuring that should take care of some smaller posters. Also a bit of the plaster at the top of the wall is slightly coming forward. As it is too much work to replaster I keep it like it is, but have to take in account a slight change of perspective. Anyway you can see the different phases on this blog entry: http://www.hazardousoperations.com/movie-ink_wp/2013/11/26/about-the-worldwide-context-of-the-magic-centre/
With the wall full you did not see the lines, but without posters it looked bad. That was not much of a problem as I had grown weary of an all white space. I had the dark red already tested in my kitchen upstairs and like it as it has an old cinema feel. I needed two layers to have no color difference, but you will always see the lines of the thick metal paint.
