Amazing poster!  And nice to see Dario in his element.  I also notice the GBU Quad he's trying to save on the left!

Wow, I just visited this thread for the first time in a while.  Great "Wrong Man" poster Mark!  And damn, Dario should setup a live-feed web cam in his drying room.  I would pay to subscribe to it... if there was ever such thing as poster porn.  bed1

And what is that TCAT poster?  It looks huge, but still English language?  The only posters that I know of using the face-to-face art are one of the US half sheets and the UK quad.  Is that a UK bus stop or something?

Finally, nice Marylin Mel.

I happened to trip across this for sale, on Ebay. A 1917 poster for the Theda Bara movie, THE ROSE OF BLOOD.

According to the seller, it was in what appeared to be unused condition, with minor wear, some small cross fold holes, tiny tears, etc. Then I read he sent it to Chris Cloutier of Posterfix, to have it lightly restored and backed.  nono

This one certainly would deserve some close up inspection and scrutiny; one can't tell what was done, from the one image posted, since there is no "before" photo.

Would be nice if he'd post a pic of the actual poster too (but I know that's too much to ask these days  eyeroll )

Yes indeed.  But I don't believe the current pic (which one would presume to be the restored copy) is not even the actual restored copy but just a random internet photo (or perhaps HA pic?)

Chris.. it does indeed look like this seller simply "borrowed" and posted the HA image for his ebay listing. They are identical. Here is the HA image:

Well, it's a close call but I'm sending Hot Rod Rumble off to Poster Mountain for LBing.:

Charlie might be offended?

Always wondered why Hot Rod Rumble didn't actually have hot rods in the poster art?  Will you get John to add them Mel?  ;)

I think they are hot rods??

It's a "close call" because the poster is pretty good shape for being 55yo and does not strictly need to be LB'd at this point, although it would improve its appearance.

Also, spending $150 to linen-back it will not enhance its value, in fact it's probably a money-loser since so many collectors disdain linen-backed posters.

However, I don't plan to resell it, I like LB posters, and LBing will preserve it, so I'll go ahead and LB it.  The alternative is to clean and press it, like this:

http://www.postermountain.blogspot.ca/2012/02/them-you-know-movie-about-giant-ants.html

P.S. Charlie has already linen-backed five of my posters in exchange for various and sundry trades.  Plus his wife will leave him if he messes with OPP(*) in the future.

Nah OPP are just on hiatus for a while.  Really want to get to some of mine. Plus there is a lot of experimenting that we want to do that I hate taking risks on the OPP... for example I basically have this star is born insert that I probably tried to restore before I should have (skill-wise) that I now use to experiment on.  I was trying out masking friskit this weekend and it worked great until I pulled it off as it pulled some of the surface off... just imagine if that had been your hot rod girl....  I also played with my filling compound but didn't learn a whole lot until putting to use on Harry's Suspiria quad it all turned out great but there is more on the line with OPP...

So some to experiment with and then to my list:

I have a Dirty Harry Australian OS Roadshow, Rear Window RR, TheSwan OS, a Wizard of OZ OS RR, Conspirator OS, A Moroccan FAFDM, and more right off the top of my head...

Plus I will be the first to recommend Dario or Poster Mountain for work... They are the gold standard why would I be offended?
