Wow! That is just AMAZING!!! Although I can see it for a historically significant artifact like that, but I wonder what kind of reaction youd get if you took a 1st run star wars in to those restorers?? :P

Not to mention the price tag that would be attached that kind kind of involved restoration!!

I'd like to know how much was spent in tax payer $$$ on that restoration!  I bet it was something ridiculous...

Still an amazing transformation IF most of the original paper was salvaged.

The linked article says that the restorer only charged $5,000.

Here are some actual "befores and afters" of movie posters. Work done by Dario Casadei of www.vintagemovieart.ca

Great stuff, Jeff.
I did notice that the restorer left something off the MAD LOVE window card -- the 's'...Dead Hands now Dead Hand...

Here it is to view it a bit easier, plus a poster from heritage for comparison

Some minor differences:
The fly in her eye unsettles me, the writing looks crooked and his lower face is browned

The restorer got the coloring all wrong. I would rather hang up a good color repro.

Paul, the restorer who did the MAD LOVE card (the one missing that S in HANDS, too), was Poster Restoration.

The Mona Lisa as it could look if cleaned up.  See the NYTimes article about any copy of Mona Lisa that was painted (probably by a student) at the same time Da Vinci was painting the original.

To me, it seems more mysterious in its dirty, deteriorated state.
