One of my good friends is his grand-nephew.  Those pieces have been with the family since he passed, and there has been much contention within the family about whether to sell them or not.  He told me recently that the sell group finally had their way, which I guess ultimately happens with family treasures that are valuable.

Wow that's a pretty wild connection you have!  Seems odd his Dad didn't bequeath those originals to his son Matthew since he is also an artist and even apprenticed with his dad.  I think Matthew Peak was also somewhat close with Drew Struzan if I accurately remember reading or watching something about it.

Yeah, I am not entirely clear on the legal details, but I'd assume they were in some kind of trust.  Obviously, when he passed in '92, and when he would have been doing legal paperwork before that, they did have the value that they do currently.
