Did anyone buy anything in today's Signature auction over at Heritage?

struzaholic

Absolutely not!

But I finally got a Amsel RAIDERS R1982 poster just a few moments ago! And I practically stole a John Alvin Kilian ALIEN R1994 poster as well (I have been trying to get one for quite a while)!

What a great night! Thank you Bruce!

Since everything was on linen, it was a really easy pass for me.  No regrets.

I picked up this stunning French RR1946 of Bride of Frankenstein, which I can't wait to reunite with its counterpart in a smaller format that I bought at Propstore a couple of years ago.

Hammer UK quads continue to do exceptionally well at Heritage: this time Curse of Frankenstein sold for 20K and Curse of the Werewolf (which I bought at HA for $2,390 a few years back) for $18,750!  Insane...

I was on the phone w Julian and watched him buy that French King Kong.  He also told me that Bride was yours, so no surprise there haha.  Julian knows.

On the stupid front, how about that Jurassic World banner for $6k?  I have one.  I think I got it for... 0!!!  I don't get it.

Oh man, I haven't talked to Julian lately, I should have given him a call before the sale because I was the underbidder for that French King Kong lol!  I would have saved him some $$$ had I known it was him...

Dude!!!

He's going to be pissed.  I think he got it for $21k.

You guys must talk, especially if you're playing the same field.

That is gorgeous! Congrats on the pick up, Antoine.

I dont do auto's on posters, but i do occasionally chase trading cards. Pulled 2 in 3 box breaks!

struzaholic

I never would have suspected any of this! That is a fascinating world I haven't even considered: movie related trading cards!? That's pretty wild they just stick in autographed cards into packs now? What is your most prized autographed card?

There are no card shops around me that carry this stuff, so i have to buy online, and unless you buy a case you cant trust the sellers, cause they will get the case hit, then sell off the rest of the boxes... soo i really only buy on Upperdeck epack so that limits what I can get and the trading card market has went bonkers since covid on pricing so that also limits what i spend. De Armas was really the only card in the set i wanted, so i got majorly lucky!

I have mostly big Bond hits, Daniel Craig, Famke Jansen,Denise Richards,Sean Bean,Michael Madsen,Christoph Waltz,Judi Dench and a bunch of the bond girls.

Marvel
Hailee Steinfeld
Jeremy Renner
Djimon Hounsou
Evangeline Lilly
Hannah John Kamen (ghost)
Elizabeth Olsen

Alien univ
Paul Reiser

Xfiles dual Mitch Pileggi/William B. Davis (skinner and smoking man).

What is nice is they are certified by the card company, so there is no guessing if the sig is authentic or not (yes there have been some auto pen debacles, but that has mostly been in sports card land).

struzaholic

Dale, that is pretty fascinating. I used to collect a lot of sports cards as a kid, not that different than most American kids I guess. I also have a nearly complete or complete set of a series of XMen cards I collected pack by pack back then. I recently found all that stuff (I think it was right before I got back into poster collecting) some of it in old binders and some loose in boxes, and moved/organized it all into new binders with new card sleeve pages. It was fun to look back through all of it. But it also got me thinking how hard I worked back then to try and complete a set when nowadays you can just buy the whole set for many things (including most of the 80s and 90s series I collected) without doing it one pack at a time and trading with friends.

Anyway, I had to look up this epack thing. That's pretty crazy that basically the cards are virtual then? But you can still get the card(s) sent to you when you want?

Love that there are so many Bond cards out there and you have of course found most of them. All of the Bond girl card must be pretty fun to put together and highly sought after, maybe more than some.of the big actors?

It is pretty smart setup they have. They store everything, you can request most stuff be sent to you anytime you like, the cheap stuff is digital only, but you can combine say 10 "base" cards to get a variant, then that one can be sent to you.  They partnered with COMC so you can send the cards there to sell. What is nice about that if one is a collector, you can buy from multiple vendors and they combine all the items into 1 shipment.

Also makes for a great trading platform and they also do a lot of online only achievement cards, but you really need a big a huge spender normally to get to that stuff.

I just like going and buying a few here and there, kind of like a lottery scratch off :)

I would of thought Topps and Panini would of done something like this buy now, but the storage aspect, could get crazy having to file a store a large number of cards potentially for years at a time.

Quote from: Antoine1973 on August 22, 2025, 11:54:16 AMI'm with you Skyjackers, I only post new acquisitions if I feel that they are important enough to warrant some degree of interest here.  That said, I always enjoy seeing what other people are collecting, so I guess I should also make more of an effort to comment when they post new pick ups.

Speaking of new(ish) acquisitions, I just got my recently-acquired Creature from the Black Lagoon 3-sheet back from the framer, and I couldn't be happier with the result.  I think I will switch it with my Creature Walks Among Us 3-sheet that's currently hanging in my garage (and for which I will have to find a new spot in another room).   Next to the French poster for King Kong, it will be in good company!

Great pickups. Those are beauties.

Been sitting in a box on the shelf for about 10 years, trying to make a little headway getting through some of them! I had never seen this style before so dropping it in for the horror fans. Some interesting stuff coming out of these Canadian boxes.
