Hi everyone!

I just bought this poster and it is unrestored, and I'd like to keep it that way.

However, there are quite a few wrinkles and creases scattered throughout. What are some methods you all use to minimize them?

Thanks!

The DIY method is to iron the paper with (or without) wax paper in between, then store it flat with weight on it.
This will reduce creases and wrinkles.
Crucifixion? Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each.

Really? Ironing works? I might try that some day... Im clueless about stuff like this though. Don't want to cause MORE damage...

Please anyone don't iron a poster, unless it something you are prepared to ruin or you have tested before. Too much can go wrong without detailed instructions (damage to the paper and to the colours). Note normal air temperature fluctuations is just as damaging to a poster as UV, so imagine what an iron will do. Need to consider the iron temperature, how to apply moisture (likely not water or mist, but maybe 100% humidity controlled enclosure and for how long, what surfaces placed under and over the poster, is it an old or new poster...

I'd consider advice from respected dealers / restorers re ironing before attempting on any of my posters.

Here is a post that may be of interest (someone tried and others offered other options).

Probably best bet is just to lay it flat with equal pressure on top of it, for weeks or months. Maybe put a sheet of barrier paper (rice paper) between the poster and what is on top of it

I just realized that this thread has some replies! I thought I'd share what I did. I placed a damp towel on the back of the poster and ironed it on low heat. Then I pressed it between two pieces of foam core under a ton of weight for a week. It worked brilliantly! No backing or anything.
