The tv is capable of displaying a slideshow of streaming images from your pc over your home network. I tried it and it works, but I prefer to plug in a usb thumb drive.

Dave, can you slow down the slide frequency?
I was just wondering how long an image can hang on the screen before you get some sort of burning/ghosting effect on a screen...several hours, perhaps?  I don't know...but I wouldn't leave it on all day and night.

Very cool, I hope I get to this point one day.

Looks awesome Dave.  Are you going to frame it to look like a movie poster display case?

That's pretty damn fantastic!

Dave, can you explain how you managed to get the posters to display at 27x41 (aside from mounting the TV sideways)?

the answer is that it's just a software setting

So I am assuming he has a CPU hooked up to the TV then?

Maybe just a USB stick of images on their side & the tv shows them as a slideshow?

Or just an SD card with them on, in the SD slot.

I was just thinking, how easy it would be for Quad posters. ;D

Supposedly burn-in is a thing of the past and even if you leave the same image up for hours at a time, once you change the image if there is any ghosting it is temporary and disappears within a few minutes. Now, I don't think I would want to put the same image up for a week straight to test it ;D

Yes, I can slow down the slide frequency. This Sony basically has computer like features that let you do a lot of different things. I'm using a USB thumb drive, but it is capable of wirelessly streaming photos from a pc over a home network. I tried it and it actually works great, but the thumb drive is easier for me and does what I need it to do.

Not sure if I'm going to put a frame around it. It looks great as as (very clean) so probably not. I've put in some posters with different aspect ratios like half sheets, inserts, six sheets and three sheets, and a frame wouldn't look right (I don't think) when those images are displayed.

The posters that look best are the 3 sheets as they naturally take up most of the screen space due to their aspect ratio.

Looks very good - are the pictures high res enough for them to look pin sharp up close?

They actually look pretty amazing and very, very sharp. Maybe not "pin" sharp, but standing 4 feet away you can't tell it is a digital display. They look like vintage posters in a modern theater light box. One sheets measure life size at 27" x 41".....but for some reason they look much larger than that on the screen. I just did the Goldfinger door panels which display roughly 2/3 their actual size at 15" x 48"......and they look awesome. Six sheets look great too, even though they are only about 27" x 27". Three sheets still look the best as they naturally take up most of the screen and measure about 24" x 48".

As soon as I finish making images for all the posters I want to display (resizing, cropping, etc.), I'll have no need for my actual posters. You all might want to check the dumpster outside our office in a few weeks.  ;)

I forgot to mention how great inserts look when they are enlarged to 18" x 48".

Cool - nicely done indeed, I think it looks great.

I do think that perhaps the future will be this - a paper thin digital display that you can hang on the wall and it's of a resolution that means it's 1:1 with current poster detail...perhaps in 10 years time we'll all have them and all our paper will be meaningless...sob sob  :)

The new retina display on the iphone 4 is pretty spectacular, pixel resolution is insanely high. It is just a matter of time before this is used on larger displays.

Honestly though, on this tv even from just a few feet away you can't tell it is a digital image. I put up a hi res picture of "the hangover" one sheet to test what a modern poster looks like, and it is indistinguishable from the actual poster when viewed from 4 feet away.

Very nice. Personally I'd slow it down as much as it would allow for each image, an hour each or so but that's just my preference
