Disney: With a Smile and a song..
« on: August 29, 2010, 02:36:26 PM »
Still going through the poster piles, and didn't realise how many Disney posters I had, and was wondering if it's only me or does anyone else have any Disney posters.

So with all the Sexy Women, Violence, and Horror posters on the Board, Here's an escape to that wonderful world of Disney.

The more images you post of your quads, the more I think how much I would like to flip through one of your piles!

I have a couple hundred quads, but have not been chasing them much lately as it seems the good stuff goes for insane prices and the decent B level titles just are never listed anymore at non-retail level pricing.

These are great, Paul, and take full advantage of the horizontal format.

Snow White is my favorite - what year is it?

Thanks for the positive comments guy's, don't worry Zorba it's only me, it's just I've been at it a while. And if any of you guy's are in the area feel free to come and have flip through.

I think the Snow White is from the late 60's Mel, as it advertises the Disneylands soundtrack Record on the poster. The Record was released in the mid to late 60's.

Sooo, no more pics posted, it looks like it's just me then, with this disney thing. So here's a couple more.

Hi, Paul!
I THINK it's 1972 as it ties in with a dated campaign book with similar artwork on the cover.  Dating these Disneys is always tricky.  They sometime complicate matters by printing the date of the original release on the re-release posters - that certainly happens on some of the Pinocchio re-releases - leading to frequent 'misunderstandings' on eBay!
Best wishes,
Terry

I gave away most of my Disney posters to my friends' kids, but I kept these because I like the art:

Quite true Terry, it's very tricky. My guess was then as I have two others from the 70's, so the thought they released it three times in a year did seem a bit much!!

Interesting that both posters have the same composer background and stereophonic hook,But when i saw Mel`s i was puzzled as to why Mickey was not pictured, yet the Quad has him bang centre..Does anyone know why?

Partly in response to Stewart, here's a non-Mickey quad which is even closer to the one-sheet artwork - I have this dated at 1969 but I'm not sure how I arrived at that date ... the artwork ties in with the US 1970 re-releases on LAMP, so maybe that's a more accurate date ... round about then anyway ... !

Until Paul posted that image, I'd never seen the version featuring Mickey.

At one time I had several B1's, mostly modern ones for Mulan, A Bug's Life, Fantasia 2000, and maybe Hercules, but I think I have sold them all.  I do have this one sheet though.\

Thanks.  You know what you did.

I think the appropriate movie quote would be
"Where does he get such wonderful toys"

And yes a I agree those are all great posters. Love the Disney stuff.

Nice of you to chip in, Jeff.

The Jungle Book is an original 60s release, The Lady and The Tramp half sheet is a 62 re-release.

These Disney framed publicity art stills were part of a set of 3 issued by Disney to coincide with the restored version of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs.
They moved ahead to the Premiere release throughout the Uk which ended at Glasgow.
Unfortunately they didnt get picked up by the courier service for return so they lay and lay until i liberated them!  ;)
This Image is of the general history of Disney studios with close up of Text.Measures 20.5"x33"

Image 2 is of history of the founding of Walt Disney Studios, again 20.5"x33"

Plus Text

The final image is a general art synopsis of the development of the final artwork for the Seven Dwarfs.
Measures45"x33"

If you Zoom in to the last image you can see the details better,Not posters but unique none the less.
