Funny how things work out. Because of this thread I had another look to see if there were any Bande A Part Belgium posters available and low-and-behold... I found one. AND it was in better condition (mine had unfortunately biro on the back of the poster that could slightly be seen through Anna Karina's face. grr). AND it was cheaper. Snapped it up straight away. But now I have two. Hmm.
Roll, roll, roll, Rollergirl!!!

I've not seen another of these for sale.
It is a 27x40, ss Drew Struzan design for Hellboy II, exclusive to the 2008 NYCC (Comic Con).
According to this article, there are 2007 other copies out there, but people ain't selling them.

In a similar vein, here are some Spanish character posters for the first film that I have not seen again since I bought these.
I'm sure there's more to the set, but I've not seen them... yet...

Nice ones, Ted. I have a soft spot for character posters and I like those.

This is actually quite a good topic because the unicorn topic is about posters that are very rare, whereas this is all about those posters most people have only seen once or never before (and that those posting them own!).

There's some VERY nice and amazingly rare items here.
Kudos to everyone.

I particularly like those Kill Bill posters!

Simes, every rare Bond poster is interesting so post away (but then again, I'm heavily biased!).
Best wishes,
Adam

Huh?

Joneyyy is referring to the Game of Thrones one sheet I posted above.
A few years ago, he contacted me as to whether I could find another, but I couldn't.
Somewhere along the way he did find one.

Good for you Joneyyy!

Ah. I see now...

Wondered whether the chap was referring to a topic in a whole different forum.

Some cool stuff. Never really thought about it but I have a few that fit the bill here that could be posted.

The first is definitely the only one I have ever heard of let alone seen for sale, River Girl 1sh 1932/3. Need to finish restoring her, she is a cool piece that has been waiting on finishing touches for two years or so now.

Another is the Jedi British Billboard, it is really more like a half billboard compared to the US sizes at 60"x120". I know there is at least one more complete copy out there in addition to this one and the partial I have but I have never seen a decent image let alone another one for sale. Will dig into the stack and see what other unique posters I have, I think there are one or two more.

Sorry fella, ref the SW billboard, do you have the full version AND a partial?

And, at those measurements, the billboard use six quad sized bits of paper to construct it?

Sorry for the noddy questions, not up on billboard paper.

Thanks.

No worries about questions at all Simes.

I currently have one complete full billboard and roughly 2/3 of a second one having both ends but missing the center section to make another one. One end on the partial has also been trimmed a few inches from the right edge losing the printers info and a bit of the background coloring from when it was displayed at some point. For size yes as well it is the size of six quads but printed in three 40x60 sheets for a total size of 60x120 as opposed to the normal full US billboard size of around 120x240. These though of course are English printed posters not US so roughly 1 meter by 3 meters converting to metric. Each one looking pretty good on its own but all of them together is quite impressive without being quite too huge.

Chris, the Theft of Mona Lisa poster is terrific. I've never heard of the film.

+1, with Marc, re your Theft of Mona Lisa poster, Chris.

What a great looking poster AND in great looking, unrestored condition, too. clap

I quickly checked imdb, and this is a German movie from 1931, then released with subtitles here in the US, in 1932.

Jeff, I looked this up as well.

It has a good rating of 7.9 albeit with a small review sample size of 17.

And because it's based on the actual theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in August of 1911, Id like to check it out, to see how that heist story was brought to the German screen.

That River Girl poster is stunning - for a film that I have never heard of, never mind not having seen any paper for.

I have a couple of French posters that I haven't seen elsewhere:

Those 2 are just fantastic, Martin.

It looks like Roger Soubie's signature on the poster for Mr Chips, clap clap and the name of Gil. B on Something to Sing About? I like the date and time that has been written at the top of it, too. Because it was so neatly written, it almost seems part of the original printed poster.

Do you have any info on who this other artist (Gil B) is?

Beautious posters both!

Hi, Jeff - it looks like Gil.B to me too but I have no idea who that might be, it's the first time I have come across that name.

I am a big Cagney fan and I think that you see the best of him in non-US posters rather than the rather bland Warner Brothers efforts on most of the US paper for his films.

Like you, I find the the hand written listing at the top of the poster appealing - I always think this gives a poster a bit of a flavour of the time in which it was pinned up for display.

It doesn't show up too much in the photo but it has a lot of fold separation - it is either just about hanging together or on the verge of falling apart, depending on which way you look at things.

Hey Martin, It sounds like this might be one you would consider having conserved and linen backed? In a case like this, I think it would be so worth it - to save the integrity and "life" of this poster.

And I agree, the Cagney art is really great, as are the faces of female co-stars. The poster exudes a "feel good" energy, too.

Now to find out who this atist Gil. B is.  sherlockholmes.gif
