How do restorers find the image for rare posters?
« on: March 15, 2016, 10:54:57 PM »
Was just curious on how restorers find images for rare/hard to find posters to restore.
I have an Italian 2 sheet I am thinking I would like to restore, but it has a corner piece missing (perhaps with some writing missing on the poster). How would a restorer find the image? I was trying to a search as well, and can't seem to find any image for the poster.

What year or decade is the poster from, Mike?

Restorers likely hunt around, have poster reference books, look for the stray, ellusive image online, and the like.

pressbooks when available. sometimes keybook art photos

sometimes the restorers only restore an item to 'best guess'
