Unusual Clockwork Orange poster
« on: July 24, 2010, 01:12:55 PM »
I have this Clockwork Orange poster and I have been unable to find another one like it online. I want to know what kind of poster it is, and if it's rare. This poster was found at a second hand store a few years ago. It is printed on a cardboard stock material.

I appreciate any information you have about it.

if it's 14x22, I'll bet it's a Benton window card

It is about 14 x 22. What is a Benton window card? Are they common or rare?

Worse yet Juli, it is likely a Benton REPRO window card. I can't read the small writing at bottom, but if you or someone else shares that, you will likely have your answer.

I wish I could give you better news.

Bruce.. how can you tell a Benton WC from a Benton Repro WC?

They have a capital "R" in front of the number in the lower right. And they are on a glossier thinner paper.

The guys who bought the Benton Company in the 1990s mistakenly thought there would be a BIG market for repros of WC's, so they made them, adding the "R" (for reproduction). They were not trying to deceive anyone.

Here is what it says on the bottom: "Tribune Showprint, Inc, Eard Park, IN, Ph, 219-474-6061 - Fx 219-474-6062"

Not a Benton repro, but in my opinion likely a repro of some sort, but I can't say for sure.

Seems unlikely they had fax machines (or fax numbers) when "Clockwork Orange" was originally released.

I think they did have corporate fax at that time.. it was too expensive for most small companies.

Tribune Showprint is the oldest continuously running print shop in the USA. Open since 1878, Tribune is actually one year older than the world-famous Hatch Show Print
in Nashville.
According to the company website  :D

The Address is Earl Park..dunno if that was just a typo Juli ? x

Bruce, Juli posted that the one she has is on thicker cardboard stock..
