July 2015
« on: July 02, 2015, 12:13:50 AM »
I don't know if I ever started this thread before.

Here are a few posters I acquired in June.

Very happy about this one.  Folded, near mint, extremely rare RED Dr. No.  Much rarer than the purple and blue versions.

A few Italians...

A few British...

A few Star Wars... (some I posted already, but not everybody checks the SW thread).

A few Bardots....

I haven't posted in 2 months, and bought a lot of posters, so I decided to skip May and only post some from the last 30 days.

I only bought one today, but it's really not interesting.

Thai Paint Your Wagon.

So here you go, you got something I bought today ;)

30 more days!  I have a big haul coming.  Just waiting for the seller to ship them to me.  Hopefully this month.

Agreed. The Dr No looks great! And the different imagery of Bardot is fascinating. I love viewing this niche BB collection you are building up Thierry.

Nice to see you went for the Dr No, T.

I couldn't pass it up.  Not the cheapest, but I may never see it again.  Benito has one, but it is in horrible condition with all kind of writing bleeding through, according to someone who saw it in person.

I now own 2...  All I need is the blue version.  Also, keep in mind that these are not the cheap re-releases Bruce has been selling left and right, but the 1st release originals.

Thanks Mark.  Yeah, niche collections are what it's all about, imo.  The fun of trying to complete a collection is the main reason I collect.  And there are still so many more BB posters I'm after.  I know what they are and it seems endless.

Yeah, B0. I'm looking for some great posters around this size for films that I love, so it was worth it for me to pay more since it so rarely comes up for auction.

That has to be quite something to see in person, in that size! Congrats again!!

Down to the other end of the poster size scale, this Belgian for The Virgin Queen (1955), starring Bette Davis and Richard Todd, arrived today.

Everest looks like a cool flick.   cool1

I think you're referring to when Mel was talking about how sometimes the UK quads use the USA vertical format artwork on their horizontal format quads, and just put huge borders around it.  You don't ever see the USA vertical format posters using a horizontal UK artwork, with huge borders around it.  wynk

Of course, there are times when the "empty space" is part of how it was designed, and adds a lot to the piece.  This one for Ant Man is pretty cool.   cool1

Everest looks good on the trailer, thanks for posting Neo.

I was just referring to the amount of un-used, white paper on the ant-man, but it does get it across well. He's tinny.

Thanks, and nice quads there, too, Paul. The use of open space on a piece like Ant-Man I can totally see..makes sense and drives the point of the "little guy." :)

And that Everest visual.. menacing and beautiful at the same time.

Then, of course, The Exorcist. A fave movie of mine; Dick Smith's makeup was top shelf, and the performances riveting!

Congrats, again.
