The Little Black Book of Sellers
« on: April 24, 2015, 09:29:47 AM »
The two main sites I use to find film posters are eBay and, failing that, Heritage. I've tried searching "vintage film posters" and lots of other searches on google, but what I have found is that a lot of sellers don't promote their sites very well, so you end up missing out on great sellers. Please help me compile a comprehensive list of the best places to use when searching for posters.

Please recommend other places, as a relatively new buyer, I know it will help me and others, plus it would good to have a thorough list of good, trusted sellers.

Big Auction Sites
eBay - www.eBay.co.uk / www.ebay.com
eMoviePoster - http://www.emovieposter.com/
Heritage Auctions - http://movieposters.ha.com

Independent Sellers
Benito Medela - http://www.benitomovieposter.com/catalog/
Domique Besson - http://www.dominiquebesson.com/en/vintage-movie-posters.htm
MoviePosterBid - http://www.movieposterbid.com/

Benito.... Ah yes...

His poster paradise... with prices as rare as many of his beautiful and rare poster gems!!  bed1

And also much of this,  faint2.gif  from the sheer number of quality posters that he has available.

And Dominique is so much the same way... with amazing pieces and quality... not a question about that either.

He is a rather nice man actually. With beautiful posters. We are seriously  considering visiting Barcelona and his cave...

Easiest way to get there from London  is by flying from London to Barcelona. So worth visiting Barcelona again... (well that is my excuse) :)

Benito, wow. Those infamous prices.

And I remember when I bought from him via his ebay site for the first time (about 10 years ago), I had no idea who he was, or his status in the poster collecting/selling field. I thought he was just some other guy selling posters on the bay.

And when i called and spoke to him, he was polite, cordial and helpful in that regard, too.  thumbsup.gif

What kind of posters do you want to buy?  That would help in posting some sellers as certain ones are more specialized...

Yes. Good point. Worth doing  this as Chris suggests.

You could also have a quick scan at the "dealers" thread here for other sellers. You will find there other good websites. For example Kinoart, Wolfgang the seller has good posters at reasonable prices. Check it out !

I'm currently looking at pre-1970s Italian posters.

Are there any particular Italian artists you are more interested in than others? Or genres?

Really nothing that specific, I didn't start this thread with anything specific in mind. Just thought it would be good to compile a list of good websites, that might be flying under most people's radars. I'm not a prolific collector so I promise I won't snatch posters from under other members' noses.

Might be tricky... those sellers that fly under the radar are that way for a reason, for many collectors.
