I'm not a big fan of propaganda posters, but your collection is amazing.
Well done!

Nice additions there, Christian. That Anton poster, really is something else, too. Very powerful imagery.

That would indeed be amazing, and more than a little unsettling I'm sure.

Two new additions prior to Xmas...

Both of which I still do not have in hand, although they should
be arriving at some stage this week.

The first is one I have always admired, a beauty by the artist Cornelis Koekkoek.

Size = 54.5 x 80cm

The second is a nice pre-war shipping / travel poster by the master, Anton!

The poster dates from 1935, so within the reign of the National Socialists in
Germany, hence the National Socialist flag (swastika) flying from the bow.

It is interesting in that this poster along with Anton's famous Zeppelin poster
are the only travel / non-military related poster to still depict a swastika.

Size = 42 x 58.5cm

A new arrival this week and one from the Allied side.

Many thanks for member 'Crazy Vick' who put me in
contact with the collector selling this one.

Christian, nice poster. Would this have been a "stock poster" of sorts? Reason I ask, is that the red text looks to have been added later (along with the date at the top as another, possible indicator).

'Tis another fine looking poster.  cheers

What does the fine print along the bottom edge say?

Many thanks!

You are spot on, there were many of this type / style of poster during the war and they would have various
different events over printed as the need arose.

This one appealed to me as I had several members of my family serve in both the Australian and Royal Navy
during the war. A nice image of a ship dropping depth-charges which I could not say no to adding to my collection.

It has been some time since I last posted, but I have been busy with a new addition to
the family.

However I have still managed to acquire some nice posters for my collection.

This artwork on this one is by the famous NS artist, Hans Schweitzer who always signed his
work under the name 'Mjölnir', which is also the name of Thor's hammer.

SIZE = 120 x 83cm

There is another version of this poster in portrait layout, with only the main slogan and not the
main body of text.

I had seen one of these listed for sale for ages and the owner refused to budge on the price.

I then found one at auction earlier this year and managed to win it for about a quarter of the
asking price the other guy was asking, which makes adding this one even better as it offsets
the thousands I end up paying on some of the others.  eyeroll

As always, a really interesting piece, there, Christian.

Where is the artist's signature? I was looking at your pic and didnt see it.

Is it buried in the actual artwork somewhere?

The signature on my landscape version is largely obscured by the text
although you can see a part of it between the words UM and JEDEN.

SIEG UM JEDEN PREIS! - VICTORY AT ANY COST![/b]

Here below is the other version in portrait, using the same artwork and you can
clearly see the signature in the bottom right corner in this one.

I actually prefer this version although have never seen it offered for sale before.
The artwork is definitely crisper on the portrait version, although I have used the
auction site photo of my poster which does not really do it justice.

This next new addition is a hard one to find.

The artwork is once again by Hans Schweitzer (Mjölnir), although it is unsigned on these particular posters.

SIZE (approx.) = 42cm x 58cm

The original artwork (minus the text) can be seen in the 'Deutsche Künstler und die SS' catalogue I believe,
which was a catalogue for an artwork exhibition during the war. The catalogues themselves sell for quite a sum!

I was sceptical of the existence of these with the text as I had always thought the text was added post-war by
someone trying to make a fantasy/fake poster, that was until I saw this period image showing one such poster.

.
.
.
I have been getting quite a few of my posters that I have already posted in this thread linen-backed and with some
partial restoration where required, which needless to say has made some of these posters look absolutely stunning.

This particular one 'SS IM KAMPF' was the first and only so far that I have had done in the USA, by the nice girls at
Fourth Cone Restoration... I was very pleased with the results and I will be using their services again most definitely...

This next one was a case of having missed out on two others over the years and finally
nabbing one for myself when the opportunity arose.

A rare recruitment poster specifically for the SS-Standarte "Westland", which consisted
mainly of Dutch volunteers and was part of the SS Division 'WIKING'.

This is a big one @ 120cm x 85cm approx.

A great image of all the foreign recruits of the SS, uniting to fight the Bolshevik menace!

Here is a period photo showing two such posters.

This one is a poster advertising an exhibition in the occupied Netherlands.

Dr. Arthur Seyss-Inquart who is mentioned on the poster was an Austrian Nazi who was
appointed Reichskommissar for the Netherlands from 29th May 1940 – 7th May 1945.

I cannot recall the size of this one off the top of my head, but it is quite big.

This next one is for the Dutch Workers(labour) Front, or NAF - Nederlands Arbeitsfront!

Which was a National Socialist movement of the Netherlands modeled on the German Arbeitsfront.

This is by the Dutch artist Koekkoek, whom I have a few other posters by.

I took this picture of the poster myself so it is clearer than some of the other recent ones I have posted.
I am using the dealer / sellers images that I have on file where I can as I am kind of restricted in laying
these out to take decent photos since we had a new addition to the family, not to mention time poor. ;D

This next one I won at auction and do not have in hand as yet as the auction house is holding it
for me until their next auction so I can combine shipping costs.

I am posting the auction particulars below.

Am Horizonte.. Afrika Angriff - 30x44, ca. 1942 by K. Lorenz (1888-1961)

SIZE = 30 x 44 ca. 1942

Artist or Maker: K. Lorenz (1888-1961)

Exhibited: K. Lorenz (1888-1961)

From what I have read about Hauptmann Cordt von Brandis is that he was a WWI hero
and also led a Freikorps unit. He was apparently arrested by the British in East Africa in
1940 and was in an internment camp until 1947.

This is an advertisement by Dr. Goebbels' newspaper, DER ANGRIFF, stating that
Cordt von Brandis's journey to and in Africa is reported in DER ANGRIFF ... so telling
Germans where they can follow his exploits.

I liked the look of this poster due to its Afrika-Korps-esque look to it so was happy to
add it to the collection.
