Passion de Jeanne D'Arc
« on: April 04, 2015, 11:38:19 AM »
It's been awhile, since my last visit. Have been laying low resisting temptation, even managed to ignore Heritage's last sig auction. I have found some nice stills and it's been interesting researching them. However, there are quite some questions unanswered. Maybe one of you guys can help: http://www.hazardousoperations.com/movie-ink_wp/2015/04/04/the-passion-of-joan-of-arc-ed-pelster-and-the-dutch-film-league/

Those are incredible stills! My favourite Dreyer and easily one my favourite films of all time.

I suspect they are the original French stills. I recently came across a single still of Antonin Artaud from the film in a shop in London. The dealer informed me that his was sourced from France. - That was far similar to yours than what I've seen of the US and British stills.

Extraordinary photographs and a bit of a mystery that I hope you solve soon.
Wish I could help but the only Dreyer film I've researched is Vampyr.
Always enjoy reading your blog and thanks for the link to Cinema Context.

Such a COOL film, Ted.  Mysterious, moody and just great, on so many levels, too.  cheers

It is a striking film, absolute must see. My site is down at the moment after a hackerattack, but I have shown the photos to an expert in Paris. They are the same paper and feel of original French stills sold a few years ago at auction, but they lack the stamp of the assigned still photographers for the movie that these aforementioned stills had. He did not know for certain, but suggested that mine are probably de luxe stills for foreign distribution.

It's hard finding competent thugs these days. I told them to rob the gallery, not putting down the site...  eyeroll

Instructions must have been lost in translation - or, as usual, you skimped on paying them the proper amount
