Hi there. There’s nothing wrong with re-release posters, especially if they have different art. The 1981 TRACKDOWN poster you got is the one I would probably end up getting as well. The MIDNIGHT AUTO poster was entirely new to me. I don’t even remember what the original poster looked like. I don’t think I ever saw the film. All of this (finding posters and re-release posters for obscure films as well as classics and blockbusters) is part of the joy of poster collecting. Cheers!

Thanks MAGG!  I agree with you and have no problems collecting Re-Release posters, in addition to original release posters.

I looked up the original Trackdown poster from 1976 and all I found on EMP was the Style B version which isn't all that bad so I will probably be in the hunt for that one as well now!  I do wonder what the style A looks like?

As for Love and the Midnight Auto Supply, here is the original 1978 poster. Also a fun poster but thematically conveys a much different movie than the Re-Release does, I think anyway.

Also, I clearly didn't read your post very critically as I seemed to think you mentioned Airplane! instead of Airport 1975. I have actually not seen any of the Airport franchise movies that I can remember. Perhaps I saw bits on TV as a kid but no idea. I think Robert Tanenbaum did some comp art for one of these movies but didn't get the final poster (I'll have to recheck his book to clarify which if any of the movies that was).

Reminds me though of another "disaster" movie, Earthquake, which was also always one of my favorite parts of the tram tour at Universal Studios (in California). I wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of that attraction by now, as well as the behind the scenes/sound effects show with the Hill Valley clocktower and Hitchcock stuff, which I also loved. Sadly, I haven't been to Disney or Universal in many many years now, although I am guessing the pricing has gone bananas.

Hi there. Thanks for the note. I looked up the original poster for TRACKDOWN. Style A looks very much like style B. Style B has a bigger image with more vibrant colors. Beyond that, there’s not much difference. (I tried to post pictures, but for some reason it wouldn’t work.)
I don’t know if I’d ever bother to get the original release poster. I’ve never seen the film. If I did get one, it would be the one you got… The re-release. That one is kind of cheesy with Erik Estrada holding his knife. But… Unlike, HOUR OF THE ASSASSIN, which I kind of do want because I did see it, and it was very bad (but literally all I remember is the boom mike in an office scene.), TRACKDOWN would be further down on my want list. Maybe I’ll “track down” the movie and give it a watch. (Ha ha ha.) It sounds like a wonderfully cheesy b- movie.
Thanks for the link to the LOVE AND THE MIDNIGHT AUTO SUPPLY poster. Sadly, it doesn’t look familiar to me either. But again, I never saw that film.
I loved the disaster movies of the 70s. I dug the AIRPORT series. (Although, truth be told, even though it was nominated for several Oscars, the original AIRPORT is, in my opinion, the least interesting.) AIRPORT 1975 was probably my favorite. A lot of the movie ends up being parodied in AIRPLANE! Although, AIRPLANE!’s plot was largely derived from 1957’s ZERO HOUR!
Oh yes, I remember the EARTHQUAKE attraction at Universal Studios. They had one in Florida as well as in California. I’m not sure about the Florida one, but the one in California was recently given some spit and polish and is still running. The Hill Valley clock tower, and other things on the back lot burned down several years ago. I know they rebuilt a lot of stuff. They possibly rebuilt the clock tower. I’m not sure. As for the Hitchcock stuff, I don’t know what you are referring to.
I haven’t been to Disneyland or Universal Studios since I moved to Washington. However, you are correct. The last time I was at either place, pricing was bananas. Tickets were like $100 each or so. Maybe a little cheaper but not by much.
Thank you again for visiting the thread.
Cheers!

MAGG, I love how knowledgeable you are about so many of these movies, some of which seem obscure to me.

I will say the HOUR OF THE ASSASSIN poster is actually quite a beautiful artwork.  I feel a little bad that I scooped up what appeared to be the only non-Video 1sh version out there... I just checked eBay again and still only one Video poster is available.

I think you have convinced me to undertake an AIRPORT series watch-a-thon, ZERO HOUR (also never seen), capped off with a long long overdue rewatch of AIRPLANE!

I think what I was referring to at Universal was this behind-the-scenes kind of show where I think you sat in some bleachers in a succession of a few different mini studios (or maybe it was all in just one space, I can't remember, and maybe Backdraft was part of it?) and they showed off some like camera tricks and sound effects and such from Back to the Future and Hithcock films and maybe one or two other films. Probably was/is super cheesy but I really liked it as a kid.  I hope you are enjoying Washington!

Hi there. No worries about getting the one sheet HOUR OF THE ASSASSIN. If you hadn’t have gotten it, I wouldn’t have seen it and it wouldn’t have come to mine to look for it. I remember it being a crappy movie. But I love crap. If and when another one becomes available, I might snag it. If not, no big deal.
If you do go for an AIRPORT marathon, I hope you like them. As I said the first one was not my favorite. It was my least favorite actually. They’re not good movies, but they are fun in a way. 1975 is my favorite. The first one I saw in the theater was AIRPORT ‘77. THE CONCORDE AIRPORT 79 is a big mess, but it has some great cheesy moments. It may be my second favorite.
ZERO HOUR will be very dated, but it will be incredibly familiar as it is truly what AIRPLANE! was based on.
Oh my stars! It really has been a long time since you were at Universal Studios. I think I remember what you are speaking of now. You’re referring to the lower level that you reached by the tram, passing the avalanche of boulders and, for a brief while, the Battlestar Galactica shootout thing. That lower level is reachable by a series of escalators now. All of those things you were referring to are gone now. In their place are several rides. I do remember the Backdraft thing and I also think I remember the Hitchcock thing. I think they were joined or at least very near each other. There was also a big dressing room of somebody famous down in that area and there was a museum of sorts. I remember at one time they had some of the paintings from Night Gallery in it. The avalanche of boulders and the Battlestar Galactica thing are now gone. Oh my stars about that time they still had the Airport 75 screen test thing. Did you ever see that? it lasted way longer than it should have. When they finally closed it sometime in the early 80s, they replaced it with a Star Trek screen test thing. They were little shows where audience members were dressed in costumes from airport 75 or Star Trek and they filmed little segments with them and then entered it all together with elements from The movie or the series. Both are now long gone.

Ooooo look at you. Blu-Ray…first class all of the way for you! (When I got my set, Blu-Ray was not yet available. So I had to enjoy mine in coach…)
I hope you enjoy them. They may be too dated for you. Remember, the original one (the Oscar nominated hit), was the one I liked the least.
Well, buckle up… remember that your flotation device is directly beneath you… and enjoy the movies. Cheers!

Monster, You're the best and we've actually met in person, too!!! I was thinking about Kovacs01 post about meeting in person members of APF.  So, I've met you, T, Bruce, Richie (though, he's been quiet here lately and I mainly know him from comic art collecting); and, if you test for eDNA, then Kovacs01 and I could be tied to the same convention room on the same day, though no visual confirmation. i can't recall if I've met any other APF members.  Who have you met from APF, Monster?  Okie

Okie! How are you and what a delight to see you (as always)!
I’m afraid YOU, sir, are the APF man of the hour with most members met (as far as I’m aware of…).
I’ve met YOU (Eek!) and had a marvelous time (mentioned in the link below—scroll down).
https://mymoviepostercollectionagogo.blogspot.com/2021/07/the-shock-o-rama-poster-show-2021-10.html?m=1

I also met Mr Rich in Vegas (mentioned in the link below).
https://mymoviepostercollectionagogo.blogspot.com/2018/07/monster-gogos-shock-o-rama-poster-show_97.html?m=1

I don’t know if this counts or not, but I also had the wonderful opportunity to meet FORMER member, Rosa (See link below and scroll down a bit).
https://theshockingtruestoryofmonsteragogo.wordpress.com/2019/05/13/europe-2019-part-6-london-underground/

That’s it for me…but I hope to meet more. Kovacs01 are you out there? Ha! No really, if I can, I’d love to meet other members. I’m just sort of frail and not so steady on my feet at the moment. (Moment? Ha!) I wouldn’t even mind seeing your mug again someday, senor!

Thanks for visiting the page. CHEERS!!

Hello, and welcome back. While this edition of the Shock-O-Rama Poster Show is less than exciting, it’s still all new… at least to me. Because it’s less than exciting, it should be an easy-breezy, quick-o read. There’s not much to see here. I’m not kidding. So let’s get this over with, shall we? Here we go…

DUNE PART TWO (Advance):
This poster and the three below it, were sent to me by friends. My friend Gillian’s husband Jason works for UPS. Now and again he gets shipments of movie posters from studios that are sent to a defunct movie theater. The instructions on the box apparently say to destroy contents if the addressee is undeliverable. But when Jason gets them, he saves some for me. This is the latest surprise batch I got earlier this week. They’re not great… Certainly not anything I would have purchased myself… But they were free and it was nice of them to send them to me.  I never saw the  new DUNE movie or the sequel. I know they were huge hits. This poster does nothing for me. Does it say anything to the DUNE fans? Whatever…

THE FALL GUY:
Another freebie. I’m not entirely sure, but I believe this movie was a huge flop when it came out. I didn’t bother to see it. I wasn’t really a fan of the original TV show it was spawned from either.

AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM:
Yet another free poster and another movie I never saw. I never even saw the original AQUAMAN. I’m not a superhero kind of guy. It didn’t appeal to me at all. I have no idea if this was a hit or not. I wasn’t even aware they were making AQUAMAN movies anymore.

FURIOSA:
This is the last of the posters that I was gifted with. I never saw this MAD MAX spinoff. Well, I have seen the original trilogy, and I believe I saw the one that came out a couple of years ago with Charlize Theron (FURY ROAD). I just had no interest in this one. Oh well. It was a free poster. I can’t complain.

SPELLCASTER (video):
This was an unexpected surprise. I’ve never seen this horror movie starring 80s popstar Adam Ant. One of my favorite boutique DVD companies, either Vinegar Syndrome or Severin, had made it available again, not too long ago. I don’t know if I have it and it’s in a pile somewhere to watch or if I didn’t bother to get it. I haven’t seen it still. This is just a curio. It was cheap, under $10 and with free shipping.. It’s just a video of poster. I don’t think there was a theatrical release for it. I’m not sure. The poster looks like it has some permanent roles in it. I’m hoping that, if I frame it, the plexiglass pushing on, it will remove the rolls. If not, like I said, it was cheap. Whoopie do.

IT’S ALIVE (International):
The next few posters are posters I picked up to pad out shipping from an overseas seller. I believe I already have a copy of this poster. I’m not sure if I like this poster or the alternate one featuring a baby carriage with this claw arm hanging out of it better. The title alone, in its bloody font, makes this poster worthwhile. I haven’t seen the IT’S ALIVE movies in a long time. I wonder if they’re worth a revisit? Hmm…

WILLOW (International):
I’m sure I saw this movie, but I don’t remember it. When I decided to grab this…to pad out the postage… I didn’t think I’d seen this poster before. An international poster? It seemed that way. When I decided to buy this, I mistook WILLOW for LEGEND. Oops! You’re probably wondering how I could do that. Well, Just like I’m not into superheroes,I’m not much of a fantasy person either.

ANDY WARHOL’S FRANKENSTEIN (German):
I actually already have a copy of this poster. I picked it up, not only to help pad out the cost of postage, but with the thought of reselling it at some point. The copy I’ve got seemed to have been kind of pricey, but I’m not quite sure. I hope I didn’t spend too much on buying this copy. Oops.

PHANTASM (French):
Another poster padding out postage. I dig the original. PHANTASM. I picked up this French copy as an investment. Hopefully…. The image really doesn’t work for me, but it wasn’t very expensive. Hopefully someone will dig it if and when I ever sell it.

DOOMED TO DIE (aka EATEN ALIVE) (French):
This is the poster I wanted most of all… But at the moment I have no idea why I wanted it so badly. EATEN ALIVE (better known here as DOOMED TO DIE) came in the middle of the cannibal sub genre frenzy of the 1970s and 1980s. Unfortunately, it is one of the least interesting. The US poster is so lame, I never bothered to get it. I do have a British quad though. I like that one much better. The quad, like this French poster, makes it look as if the movie is more shocking and graphic than it is. Directed by Umberto Lenzi (who kicked off the cannibal craze with THE MAN FROM DEEP RIVER aka SACRIFICE! in 1972), this 1980 is rather cannibal lite. The cast features Ivan Rassimov and Me Me Lai.who appeared together in MAN FROM DEEP RIVER. Mel Ferrer is also along for a paycheck. The most interesting casting is that of lead Robert Kerman. Kerman appeared in two other cannibal shockers; the infamous CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST and CANNIBAL FEROX aka MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY. But it’s not his appearance in these gut munchers that makes Kerman’s appearance so notable. Kerman, under the name R. Bolla as well as several others, appeared in many, many adult movies while trying to carve out a career as a “legitimate “ actor. He appeared in such adult fare as DEBBIE DOES DALLAS, CORPORATE ASSETS, and SOCIETY AFFAIRS. Once word of his porno side hustle got out, it was bye bye acting career… Yes, even the Italian sleaze meisters wanted him gone!
Did I need this poster? No. Am I glad I got it? Not really. I don’t know why I fixated on this one. It’s nothing I need. I will never hang it.Oh well.

And that my friend is 10. Short, simple, and over with. I already have a good start on the next entry and may already have enough posters to fill it. However, I don’t think I all that much better after my surgery. Although I no longer have chemo, I still have immunotherapy. I don’t know what it is, but I have very little energy and am finding myself in bed more often than not. This helps contribute to a blood clot. I have recently been diagnosed with and have had to go on blood thinners for. I’m just not doing well. I think I will soon end my collecting days. As I stated, the next p Ohost is pretty much done, except for the laying out and the writing of it. I think I have the posters for it. There is an auction coming up that has several bucket list items. I can’t afford them. But if I can somehow get them, I think I’ll be done. I’m still going through my rolls and boxes and pulling out posters. I’m framing, throwing others in portfolios, and deciding which ones I can part with. My house is such a mess right now with posters everywhere. I just don’t have a whole lot of strength to deal with it at the moment.
Blah blah blah. I’ll shut up now. Thanks for visiting the page. Cheers.

Love it!  As usual, your great anecdotes vs internal monologue make for a very enjoyable and fun read.  I think I can relate a lot to this as I buy a lot of "cheap" posters as well and never turn down free posters when they turn up (an eBay seller I have gone back to a few times now always sends along a few free posters with every shipment which I find cool)!  I also found it amusing that I too fall into the same trap of trying to pad the shipping costs which means I just keep spending more and more on posters trying to drive the "average per poster" cost down. laugh1

Anyway, complete agreement on most of these newer release movie posters just being bland and boring.  They have some vibrant colors but otherwise.....

My favorites from this set are 100% that sick title art on the IT'S ALIVE poster!  And I really like the art on that WILLOW poster!  I am familiar with the John Alvin versions so this is cool to see something different.  Looks like it is by Brian Bysouth.  I maybe almost prefer it to Alvin's--gasp!  In any case, I don't any of these versions yet, but I wonder if this version goes for a bit less than Alvin's commands??

Hang in there MAGG!  I hope there are more good days than bad ones ahead--I can't even imagine what it is like.  I also really hope you win one or more of your bucket-list items in the upcoming auction!  Looking forward to the next set of 10!

Hi there. Thanks for visiting the page and leaving such a nice note. Im glad IT’S ALIVE and WILLOW worked for you. It wasn’t much of a post this last time. Oh well, you go with what you have. My next post is ready to go. I dictated most of it on my phone. I just have to wait to get on my desktop computer before I post it. It’s hard for me to do that on my phone. Stay tuned for more mediocre poster excess. Oh boy… Snore.
Did you just recently add that little foot note about your poster collection to your comments? Bravo! I was pleased to see your collection presented in such an easy to navigate format. It reminded me of what T’s site must have looked like when he was starting out (before having thousands and thousands of posters as he does now). I look at you organizing them by artist, too. Congratulations! Very nicely done.
Look for the next post soon. It’s all I have at the moment. We’ll see if I score any of my bucket list posters. (I doubt it, but…) Thank you again for checking in. Cheers!

Hello. Welcome back. As I told you last time, I had enough posters for another quick post. I bought a lot of, mostly, crap between this post and the previous one. For the most part, they were cheapish. Although most of them, I realize, I will never hang and will probably end up getting rid of. There’s nothing all that fabulous here. The first two especially are pretty lame. Take a look or don’t. Like the last batch, I am less than proud of this post, so let’s quickly run through and get it done..

BEYOND DARKNESS (video):
This cheap-o video poster is not much. Known in its home country, Italy, as La Casa 5, it’s better known around the world as BEYOND DARKNESS. The flick tells the story of s priest and his family who move into a house where, unbeknownst to them  20 witches were burned to death. AMITYVILLE HORROR-type phenomena appears. For years I got this flick confused with SUPERSTITION, which is also an over-the-top haunted house flick about a family being terrorized by the ghost of a witch. SUPERSTITION is better (not by a lot, but…), but eh… this was cheap!

BRAM STOKER’S THE MUMMY (video):
I know nothing of this movie. It was just another cheapo. I don’t know why I bought it. I’ll never hang out. Louis Gossett Jr must’ve really needed the work…

MOONRAKER (Advance):
I have the regular MOONRAKER one sheet, but I didn’t have this advance one sheet. I do love my James Bond movies, but this one is one of my least favorites. It got two slapsticky towards the end. I didn’t need it but as a completist (or, at least, I try to be), even though I will never hang it, I thought it would be nice to have.

THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE:
I didn’t need this. I probably won’t ever hang it. It’s a good movie and I like the colors on this poster, but sometimes.

DEATH OF A UNICORN:
I’ve heard of this movie, but of course it never came here.I know it’s a horror/comedy, or at least that’s what I’ve been led to believe. There are three 1 sheets for this movie. I pick them all up, because… Why not? (I found this—and the next 4 posters after it—on Dale Dilts’  eBay page, MoviePosters4U. He’s a known and trusted dealer.)

DEATH OF A UNICORN:
I’m not really sure what this movie is about. The creatures on this poster, and the one above, certainly look nothing like a unicorn to me.

DEATH OF A UNICORN:
I think I’d like to see this movie if I’m able to. Has anyone seen it? Worth the effort? It’s an A24 movie. That’s at least promising.

HELL OF A SUMMER:
I know nothing about this movie. I do like the throwback, quasi- FRIDAY THE 13TH vibe the poster has. The tagline ”Pack your body bag” also works for me. I didn’t need this. And I would rather have a poster with artwork as opposed to the typical photo assemblage, but no one asked me…

UNTIL DAWN:
Zowie! I know nothing about this movie at all. The artwork, suggesting an hourglass with a house at the top and skulls raining down like sand in the bottom half, I find intriguing. It’s probably gonna be crap, but… the “Every night is a different nightmare” tagline is tempting.

THE GHOST THAT WALKS ALONE (linen):
I had never heard of this movie before. It looks like a tame, silly (low budget) murder mystery made to look like a comic horror flick. It’s old school and obscure enough to be interesting. I’m sorry I had to use the EMovie image. I’m sure they sent me a good copy, but in my condition I don’t what I did with it. Oh well… No big deal.

And that is 10. Not the most exciting batch I know, but it’s still better than the bulk of the previous post. Anyway, that’s all I have. Thanks for visiting the page and taking a look.
Cheers!

MAGG, Yes I did just add that maybe a week or two (or three now?) ago.  I would love to make an actual website but that dream was put on hold as soon I tried to start it with Wordpress... Don't need to know how to code my ass!!!  Maybe what I wanted was too complicated?  Anyway, someday I will learn but glad I found flickr as I actually think it does almost exactly what I would want from a website anyway.  Still on the free version (which I guess has ads) until I hit over 1000 photos then I will have to decide if I want to pay $70 or something per year to have unlimited photos.  Will probably just do it as I think even the Wordpress thing I was looking at wasn't entirely free either.  And thank you for all the kind words - I have taken a lot of inspiration from many of you here with websites and blog posts etc.  At some point I feel like I will have to consolidate many of the Artist albums who really only have one poster tied to them but who knows - this is where probably a website with the ability to add more structure would help.  T's website is just crazy and amazing at the same time...  SO. MANY. POSTERS!  Something to aspire to for sure but it would cost me a fortune in storage if I stick to trying to keep everything in these nice (but a bit overly priced) portfolio books from Baroque.  I am not planning on actually selling any of these posters I guess unless I end up buying nicer copies for some of them I have gotten on the cheap--so if the storage solution doesn't allow me to look at them periodically then I am not sure how I would justify ever accumulating anything close to what T has.  Who knows, I think I have a weird brain anomaly that makes me want to collect and inventory things.  I have about 1100 DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4k discs in my movie collection (although I have almost ceased buying a lot of movies these days except for a few Criterions here and there and since moving from STL I no longer have an easy way to prominently store them all now except for just a couple hundred of them).  So going back to the Airport Blu-ray discussion: Yes, I did splurge for the Blu-ray BUT I do own many DVDs also (probably about half of the collection assuming they haven't rotted--ahem WB!)!  Thanks for letting me ramble!  Cheers, Mike

MAGG, You gave me another good laugh this morning (while I should be working instead) reading your stream of consciousness going from poster to poster.  I do very much anticipate getting a hold of a MOONRAKER poster or two eventually (they always seem to go for a lot on emp) so that is one of my favorites of this bunch!  And I will add, THE GHOST THAT WALKS ALONE poster is actually kind of cool I think and something I would totally buy and probably hang it up during Halloween--it definitely seems like my speed of "Horror" movie!  And yes-- friggin' Dale has been tempting me with all of these multi-poster bundles on his eBay shop for all of these cool titles!!!  I want them all dammit!  But I also have a post-COVID Denver mortgage to keep up with.  Just have to hope nobody else wants them I guess or have to pay triple for it later on from someone else!  I have not seen the Unicorn movie yet but it is probably on the fringe for me in terms my Horror tolerance!

Keep 'em coming!

Hi there. Thanks for the notes! It’s always a pleasure hearing from you.
Your poster site is fine on Flickr. It gets the job done. I’m sure, as your collection grows, you WILL pay the money for the larger account usage. I have several blogs. Two of them are on Wordpress and I think at least one of them has grown so large as I have to pay a fee. Eek! But I do it…
I, too, have a ton of DVDs and Blu-Rays. I have them stashed all over—in closets, in boxes in the garage, piled in front of the tv, etc. ugh!
As for the posters, I’m glad there were a few you liked. I’m also glad you are aware of Dale and his account on eBay. He’s got all of the latest stuff and sometimes he unearths vintage surprises. Stick with him as there are a lot of dubious dealers on eBay (who mostly deal in highly sought after vintage titles at low-ish prices and are probably fake).
Keep up the collection. As for me, I’ve got nothing in the poster pipeline. That may be a good thing… Ha!
Cheers!

Yep, having a website is getting more and more expensive, especially if you have lot of data.  I have 500Gb+ of data so I end up paying 300 USD per year on HostGator, it sukcs!
So stay in Flickr
Crucifixion? Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each.

Welcome back… Oh lordy, did I get myself in a pickle. Oops! Oh crap. And you’d think I would have LEARNED MY LESSON after all of this time. Eeek!
There was a recent auction that had lots and lots of things I would love to have, including about a half dozen bucket list titles. Well, I went through and bid on a lot of them during the pre-auction bidding, never expecting to get any of them. Oops. I got several (and as I write this opening bit, the auction is still going—with my bids still on many items!) Yikes! We will see what happens when the dust clears, but UGH! I screwed myself silly. Let’s take a look at the damage… oh my!  (But these first four titles are NOT part of the auction fiasco.)

ED WOOD (Retrospective ):
Golly, I do NOT even remember buying this. I noticed it in my eBay purchases. What??? Hmm. Yes, it is a thing I would buy, …but I really was surprised to see I had purchased it. And yikes! It’s a HUGE French g-r-a-n-d-e (Sorry T) poster. Geez! Imago having a giant Ed Wood starring down at you when le you’re sleeping. Eek!

COBWEB:
This isn’t a new purchase. I was going through some of my tubes of posters, putting them in my flat file, when I came across this poster. I had no memory of buying this, but I think I must have gotten it during chemo when I was just soooo out of it. I had never (at least I don’t think so. I don’t see it listed on any of my pages.) gotten around to posting this apparently. I don’t know why I bought this unless I bought before watching the flick. The movie was soooo lame.

BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR (video):
I already have both styles of the original RE-ANIMATOR one sheet. Normally, I don’t buy posters for sequels unless their particular series I enjoy, such as the James Bond films, or the larger horror franchises, etc. When I decided to pick up the poster for BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR (See below), I decided I should get one for the first sequel, BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR. Why leave a gap between the first and the third? As far as I know, BRIDE never had a theatrical release or a one sheet to go with it. There was just the video poster. I didn’t really care for BRIDE. It wasn’t nearly as good as the first film. Oh well, here’s the poster… (And it has occurred to me now that video posters are kind of a relic of the past as well. I should’ve bought more of them. They used to be so cheap.)

BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR (Spanish):
I had no idea this third serving of the RE-ANIMATOR series existed until I saw this poster. What little research I’ve done seems to indicate that the film never had a US theatrical release and was only released in Spain and Thailand. I’ve seen posters for both. Surely it must’ve played elsewhere, but I don’t see any evidence of that. Of course, the way things are going direct video and or streaming now, it might not have played anywhere else. I think it was the fact that I’ve never seen the movie — that curiosity about it— that prompted me to buy the poster. Whoopie… (Translating the tagline for you: ‘Welcome to a world where death is only the beginning.” At least the title is in English!)

And now, finally, on to Auction Armageddon

THE FATAL HOUR:
Okay, truth be told, this did NOT have a bid waiting on it. As time was counting down on this item (only the 2nd or 3rd piece in the auction I was watching thus far), I bid stupidly….and it became mine. Don’t get me wrong. I love Boris Karloff and I’m always thrilled to pick up a one sheet featuring him. However, this looks to be some crime drama (instead of horror) and with Karloff awkwardly playing Asian. Hmm…

CALTIKI:
Do I know what this movie is? No. During the second day of the this big two-day auction, nothing I had pre-bid on became mine. Hooray! (Well, I would have loved that original GODZILLA—$6,000 or the PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE—$3,250, but I had already shot my poster wad accidentally—Story below—not that I could have afforded either one of them anyway…). I wanted to avoid mishaps with my phone and accidental bidding. (I’m telling you, just wait. The story is below.) Instead, I busied myself putting posters away in one of my flat file drawers. The phone was on my bed and I would glance at it from time to time as I worked. One time I glanced down and saw a tiny image of this poster on the chopping block. CALTIKI? I’d never heard of it. What is it? I tried to make out the image, but I couldn’t quite do it. CALTIKI? Did it have anything to do with “tiki” in general? There wasn’t time to do any research. The end of bidding was counting down. It didn’t seem that high priced (always seeming to forget the fees this auction house tacks on…D’oh!) and I blindly pushed the bid button. Oops!
Although I still don’t know anything about the film ( I have NOT had the heart to look it up.), having finally LOOKED at a larger version of the poster, the city being crushed and tank-like thing on the poster certainly do NOT scream “tiki”. It LOOKS like a ripoff of THE BLOB, if anything. Drat! Now I’m stuck with a poster I really have no interest in (much like the COBWEB and ED WOOD posters, but those weren’t nearly as expensive)! Grr!

BOWERY AT MIDNIGHT:
Here’s the first of my pre-bid boo-boos… As with Karloff, I also dig my Bela Lugosi posters. With this one, I mistakenly thought it was another film with the East Side Kids (who eventually morphed into the Bowery Boys) along the lines of GHOSTS ON THE LOOSE and SPOOKS RUN WILD which starred Lugosi and the “Kids”. WRONG! (And I clearly have NOT seen the movie thus far in my life). For a second I thought someone had outbid me, but nope. When the end of the auction came around, it was mine. I’m not super unhappy, but…it wouldn’t have been my first choice of things to buy.

KING KONG (1957 re-release):
Argh!!! Don’t get me wrong. I love KING KONG (my fave!) and I dig this poster, it’s just that…well, I already have it. I bid on soooooo many things (and was fortunately outbid on most of them). The reason I bid on this one the amount I did is that, when I got my original several years ago, it went for so much more than this one was going for (and this looked to possibly be in better condition). So I bid HALF of what I paid for my original one…thinking for sure I’d be outbid. Nope. (#%$&!!!)

REVENGE OF THE CREATURE:
Oh God! This one killed me. I had NOT bid on this one before the auction. It was in my watch list, sure… but it was already well beyond my limit. Sometime right around 11am, while the auction was occurring, my mom was texting me, wanting to know what I was doing. I told her I was watching a poster auction and some pieces were going for insanely high (as viewed from my wallet, anyway…). She wanted to see it. She was bugging me. Was it on TV or some web site? How could she see it?
I was trying to watch the auctions and text with my mom and figure out how to get her to the auction page. I was flipping back and forth between screens and ARGH. Somehow right as this was closing and I was flipping back over to the auction page, my finger accidentally hit the “bid” button. Oh sh*t!!!! No one out bid me. Sold…
This is a poster I wanted/needed… but NOT in this shape and definitely NOT for this much money. Let that be a lesson to you, kids. Know where your fingers are and what they are doing at ALL times. Eeek!

ZOMBIES ON BROADWAY:
Believe it or not, this was one of the “bucket list” posters I dreamed of having. Mind you. I knew if I was going to have any luck getting one, it was going to be this one as it is on the cheaper side of the ones I wanted most of all. (Cheaper being a relative term. This still went for more than I wish it had.) I had bid on this early (as I had for several others) and kept my fingers crossed. When it was time for the live auction, the bids came…and the price went up and up. Fortunately my high bid made it with $10 to spare!

And that’s it. OMG… way, WAY too expensive for my blood. I had to dig deep into my piddly (and dwindling rapidly) savings to cough up the money for these. Crap!!! I’m going to die a total pauper surrounded by expensive paper. Ha!
Anyway,  thanks for stopping by and having a look.  I've got to go and try to revive my finances somehow...ARGH! Cheers!

Welcome back…#*$@!!!  What am I doing back here so soon? I don’t know… I don’t know what is wrong with me. I am so beyond broke. Two longtime friends just died with in a few days of each other of cancer—one of them a year younger than me with basically the same cancer I have/had. I am still undergoing treatments  for my cancer and as I write this, I just don’t feel right. And yet here I am with another batch of new (to me ) posters. What am I doing? I have NO IDEA… Grr!
I know you probably hit the snack bar to have something fun to do while you sit through one of my dreary Shock-O-Rama poster shows. This will be quick because the titles just aren’t that exciting. Your snack bar treats won’t even be cold by the time we get through. Promise!

Anyway, let’s get this over with…

CAT VIDEO FEST 2024:

Yes, this is apparently a real poster from a real theatrical event. Why would I buy this? I’ll never hang it. I don’t know. I just don’t know. I don’t even have a cat. I’m more of a dog person. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.

BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR:
In my last post, I had posted the video sheet for this film, thinking the film had gone straight to video. D’oh! Apparently, I’m stupid and it did play theatrically as this one sheet proves. Not that I needed it, but I decided to replace the video one sheet with this theatrical one.

TUMMY TROUBLE:
I don’t know what I was thinking buying this Roger Rabbit poster. I didn’t need it and will never display it. However, I do think Disney was wrong in stopping the Roger Rabbit cartoon series. How many are there anyway? Two? Three? After the hit film (WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT) and the ride at Disneyland’s Toon Town, you would think they would try to keep the property alive better. I have a feeling Roger Rabbit is doomed to be forgotten in the bigger scheme of Disney things.

THE LOVE WITCH:
I already have a copy. Did I need another? No. Will I ever hang it? No. Did I ever see the movie? No.

10 TO MIDNIGHT:
I don’t know why I bought this poster other than some guy on YouTube was talking about his poster collection and mentioned having this poster, which is a nothing poster really. It’s not highly sought after or anything. I did see the movie a couple of times and it was actually kind of good (in a sleazy way). I think I just got it though because the guy on YouTube had one and I thought I needed one too, for some reason. I probably already have one. Who knows? But the title, 10 to Midnight…  Is that saying 10 PM to midnight or is that saying 10 minutes to midnight? I don’t really know. Does it matter? And isn’t it stupid that that’s what I’m walking away with after buying this poster… The questions about the title and what it means exactly. Whoopie…

BREAKUP AT A WEDDING:
I have no idea what this movie is and I know nothing about it. I have no idea why I picked this up. None. Or maybe I was padding out shipping costs? That’s probably it.

TERROR EN EL ESPACIO (PLANET OF THE. VAMPIRES) (Spain):
I did not need this Spanish copy of Mario Bava’s PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES. I already have the US one sheet. This wasn’t that expensive, but I’ll never display it and I just didn’t need it. It’s not that exciting anyway.

PROFECIA DIABOLICA (THE EVIL) (Spain):
THE EVIL is kind of an underrated and forgotten horror flick from the 1970s. I didn’t need this poster though. I already have the US one sheet… Even though it’s not that exciting.

THE INVISIBLE BOY (re-release):
I don’t know why I bought this kiddie matinee re-release poster for THE INVISIBLE BOY. I already have a copy, and I know I will never display it. Despite the appearance of Robby the robot on the poster it’s just not something I can see ever being on my walls. I’ve never even seen the movie.

FLASH GORDON (Italian):
This is the Cracker Jack prize in this batch… at least for me. I have long wanted this FLASH GORDON Italian poster. I might actually already have a copy. That wouldn’t be a surprise really. This is a nice poster though. Will it ever be framed and hung? Probably not, but it has a better chance than the other ones from this post.

And that makes 10. I told you this was a no frills (and QUICK!) poster show. Now get back to enjoying your snack bar treats!
CHEERS!

That was a funny post :D Especially the Cat Video poster, they all made me laugh. Yes, why, re Breakup at a Wedding, but with more looking at it, there's a lot going on in the poster, and the bridesmaids look fun... it might be worth a watch! I looked it up, its a 2013 film, but the poster is in 80's style

Steve-
Thanks for showing up on the page. I’m glad you found the post amusing especially the cat video poster. I can’t believe that’s a thing and I got an official poster for it. Whatever
Breakup at the Wedding I know nothing about. The poster looks a little chaotic, which is the only reason I pick that one over something else. But really I just bought it for patting out shipping.
Cheers!
