Wow...

Non-stop with the killer pickups buddy. Congrats on the all. Always loved that Mausoleum artwork, and the Teenage Torture and Mistress of the Apes are other standouts.

Hi Chris. Thanks for stopping by. I am glad you liked a few of the posters. I'm an addict, which is why they are coming so fast and furiously.

Although you didn't mention the GODZILLA VS THE BIONIC MONSTER poster, I'm going to attach a new poster i just got. It's another poster (different style) for the same movie. (And--apparently the COSMIC MONSTER / MECHAGODZILLA releases just used the same poster art as this one and the previous one with the new titles slapped on them. Argh!).

Ahhh. Jason get the kudos here. Thanks! And thank you, Jeff for orchestrating it. Just a commercial poster--oh well. The auction site LIED! Ha! I told you it was a smaller obscure auction house and the big auction was like someone's eBay page. Oh well. They clearly are NOT experts and I only wasted $15. I'm over it. But I do appreciate the mystery being solved. Thanks guys!

Admittedly I accidentally bought a repro the same week lol. Lumped it in with some others and it pretty much knew it was probably a repro but I took a $10 chance. The size was misdescribed as being 27x40 and it was actually 24x36. I woulda posted about your fake personally but had no time and hate to chime in and call out fakes lol

Thanks all the same. I had a feeling there was something up with the poster --and even asked for info on it---because I had never seen one before. As I said, it 2as cheap ($15? I forget now) for both posters. No great loss. Cheers and thanks for stopping by.

I'm home sick today. Waaaagh!

Anyway, I was working on my next posting and there were just too many posters (14 so far). So, since I like to post 10 or fewer at a time, I decided to just slap these extraneous (and kind of dull--but then, there's not really much to get excited about in the next regular post either) four on here as an "I'm home sick BONUS POST"!

PAGAN ISLAND:

I had no idea what this movie was---and it was really nothing I needed--but it looked cheesy and quasi-tiki...and dig the stupid monster. Ha!

ISLAND WOMEN :

Whipped by hurricane passions...in the sin center of the Caribbean. Ha!  ISLAND WOMEN! Another poster I didn't need that was cheap. Kind of fun. Whatever.

THE INVINCIBLE GLADIATOR :

As you know, I like my old Hercules-type movies from the 50s and 60s. This poster is kind of lame---just black and white, no color. I just recently got a double-feature combo poster with this as a second feature--also black and white.  Whatever.

POPSTAR--NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING:  I won this poster on emovie on June 16th...while I was watching the movie in the theater. It was the last night it was in town--it bombed big time. (I was the ONLY ONE in the theater...NO ONE would go with me. ha!) I thought it was okay---sort of like an updated SPINAL TAP. I dig mockumentaries, and while it wasn't hilarious, it was okay. I only bid on the poster because I was off to see the movie. I didn't expect to really win it. I got it for my max bid of $8. Ha! Guess it is more unpopular than I thought. But really--I thought the movie was okay.

Oh, what the heck? Here are a few more (a BONUS bonus posting). Again--nothing too exciting (SNORE!).

JACK FROST (lenticular):

I never saw this movie...it sounded dumb (and I would much rather watch the horror movie they ripped off with nearly the same plot device and the same title, JACK FROST). Michael Keaton gets killed and comes back as a snowman? Snore. But I was not going to let a lenticular poster go by at such a cheap price. SNAG!

BAGHEAD:

I saw this movie a few years ago. i don't remember it all that well, but I THINK I liked it. It was about a small group of people who go to a cabin in the woods to write a fictional horror movie about a killer who wears a bag on his head...and, coincidentally, a killer who wears a bag on his head shows up. Huh? Exactly.

CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES :

I already have a copy of this poster. However, it was going pretty cheaply so i picked it up. The original APES series is still pretty cool.

I SAW THE DEVIL :

I have never seen this film, but I've heard good things about it.

Happy poster shopping. Hopefully you are scoring better things than I have lately.

Hi there. It's either late June or early July...possibly even July 1st. (I'm writing this June 16th as i know I'll be on my road trip when posting time comes around--and I won't have time to put this together then...if it gets posted at all.)  Unfortunately, i DO have some (too many, actually) new (to me) posters to share with you. They are mostly nothing special though... Here they are:

INDEPENDENCE DAY (Style B):

When I saw this up for auction, it occurred to me that I don't have any of the ID4 posters. I put a bid in for this style B version...and was delighted to see I won it.

BREAKIN' 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO:

I have never seen (nor will i ever see) either of the "BREAKIN' " movies. I will also probably never buy the poster for the original  "Breakin' ". However, when you get to sequels, no movie sequel has ever had a more awesomely asinine subtitle than BREAKIN' 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO. It's been mocked for years -- and rightly so. I love that subtitle and think there should be a law that requires every sequel with a "2" in the title to have "Electric Boogaloo" as its subtitle. i can just see it now-- "JAWS 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO", "THE GODFATHER 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO", "EXORCIST 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO" (well, that might be the exception to the rule. People might mistake it for Linda Blair's epic ROLLER BOOGIE--easy mistake. BOTH are awful). But you can see how catchy the subtitle is. And---just look at those hip 80s fashions. Uh...what 80s were they in? i NEVER dressed that outrageously! Golly, I wonder what ever happened to stars Adolfo "Shabba Doo" Quinones or  Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp" Chambers? They're probably anxiously awaiting Breakin' 3 to be green lit any day now... Ha! All of this joy for only 1 cent (plus shipping)!  Fabulous!

ROMANCING THE STONE:

Not that I needed this (and I probably already have this anyway), but it only set me back $2.25. I got it to pad out the postage for my "Breakin' 2" poster.

PASSION PLANTATION (aka BLACK & WHITE EMMANUELLE) (Italian 2F):

I didn't need this poster. I got it for $5. I have the sleazy/awesome US poster already--which I like better. Oh well.

HELLRAISER: DEADER:

Yes, this IS a video poster. It's one of those instances where if you really want the poster, you have to take a video poster--as there was no theatrical posters made (because it did not play theatrically). This was one of the awful direct-to-video sequels...but I've decided to track them all down anyway. Why not? I have the theatrical posters for the first 4 films already...I might as well finish it off. (That is, if they bothered to make posters for all of the DVD movies they released...)

THE DAY TIME ENDED:

I've never seen this flick...but have heard that it is an ambitious low-budget thing that is worth a look. Why not get the poster?

FRANKENSTEIN'S CASTLE OF FREAKS:

I saw this obscurity years and years ago---and need to see it again--as I remember liking it (in a jaw-droppingly wonderfully bad sort of way). I don't remember much about it---but what a great title.

INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (International):

I've wanted this for years. There are actually a few different foreign versions, but this is my first one. The US one sheets for this 70s remake are just dull (I think). I didn't need this--but it is still cool.

NAZI LOVE CAMP:

I actually had this poster a long while ago. I wasn't wild about the artwork (the women at the bottom are little more than thick stick figures). So i stupidly sold it--not realizing what it was--for next to nothing. Stupid. I'm still not wild about the art, but I now realize what I've got. The Nazisploitation cycle may not have lasted all that long (what a bizarre-o subgenre to have ever come about), but to certain collectors/fans, these posters are worth a lot.

TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME :

I already have this as well. I hope this is a better copy than the one I already have. While the movie was not the best (although it did have some amazing moments), I LOVED the series and am super excited for the new season/series coming next year.

SUICIDE SQUAD:

I have no clue what this movie is about...but I totally dig the poster. With all of the skulls...it's very Monster A GoGo-esque. (Now watch the movie suck...)

THE FROZEN GHOST:

I've not seen this film either, but couldn't resist the poster. It's a wonderful old school shocker from 1944. Great color, Lon Chaney...and, although it's NOT a classic monster, it's still vintage Universal. Cool. (Well, I think it is...)

That it for now. I'm heading off on my road trip today (writing this on the 26th), so if I happen to get more posters between now and the 1st, I'll save them for a future post. I hope you are all well.

I'd love to know who the actor, "Boris Lugosi," is, in Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks.

And Ive also always had a spot for "Twin Peaks" and Laura Palmer. The line, "She's wrapped in plastic...." will always be associated (for me) with that show. Fire Walk With Me was an interesting way for Lynch to continue with the series, doing it theatrically.

Thanks for mentioning "Boris Lugosi". In my haste to get this prepped I totally forgot about that. DUH! But what a great bogus name to confuse the casual moviegoer, right? Ha! Love it!

And TWIN PEAKS FIRE WALK WITH ME, while it wasn't great, it was more TWIN PEAKS and had some great stuff in it none the less. I loved the show and am so anxious for the new series next year...  Oh wait, I essentially said the same thing in my original posting. Ha!

Long before boxed DVDs or released VHS sets, I set my VCR to record the TV series, "Twin Peaks," when it would originally air on Friday nights.

I still have a number of those cassettes with the original aired episodes on tape (as well as the commercials of those years).  ;)

Dig out your VHS machine or program your TIVO (DVR?...I have neither, Rarely watch TV.) for the new series. I'll probaby have to wait for the DVD as I don't have cable (see reason above for not having Tivo).  I'm super excited!

Hi there. It's hard to imagine that it's mid-July...already! Well, it certainly is HOT enough for July---but where does the time go-go? I am actually preparing this on July 13th (as I work on the 14th and 15th). I just got back from a 2 week road trip (June 26th thru July 10th) through the Pacific Northwest (Oregon and Washington). Aside from some snipes i placed before leaving and maybe about three times accessing the internet when I had some down time, I really enjoyed the vacation from my daily hunt for posters. Imagine my surprise when, while assembling this post, I realized I had somehow still managed to acquire 13 posters!!! ARGH! How did that happen?

Anyway--here they are...

WALK OF THE DEAD:

Not a great poster (and i believe i already have one), this was included in a lot with other posters. Otherwise this would NOT be on the list.

THE PIT:

Another poster that I probably already have and am not enamored with---but it was included in the same lot as the above poster.

NEW HOUSE ON THE LEFT (aka NIGHT TRAIN MURDERS, LAST STOP ON THE NIGHT TRAIN, SECOND HOUSE ON THE LEFTY, and/or LAST HOUSE PART 2):

I DO already have this poster--but couldn't resist this inexpensive 2nd (3rd? 4th?) copy." Why? I love it for a number of reasons. It's scamming the would-be movie-goer in soooo many ways. First of all, the title suggests that it is a sequel to LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT---which it is NOT. (In other releases of this same movie it was also called SECOND HOUSE ON THE LEFT and LAST HOUSE PART 2). The movie is really an Italian LAST HOUSE knock-off that takes place on a train (hence its other release titles LAST STOP ON THE NIGHT TRAIN and NIGHT TRAIN MURDERS). The 2nd and 3rd thing i like about the scamminess of the poster is the artwork. If you are thinking it's a LAST HOUSE movie, the image suggests a scared woman is sitting in her chair in her living room. Look at the chair closely. It is no Laz-E-Boy she's sitting in, but a train seat. The ad copy screams that the windows look out on hell, with a creepy surreal drawing of mysterious cloaked figures in a bizarre, barren landscape, coming at the windows. NOTHING like that happens at all in the film. The final thing i like about this poster is the gimmicky SEAL OF CONSUMER AWARENESS in the bottom center. It says the the ticket price is onl;y a down payment. The 'balance will be extracted from your nerves minute by minute"! Yowza! If I had been old enough when this came out, I'd have been hooked and been there. Ha!

WILD THINGS:

This was cheap and I genuinely like this little thriller. Why not? It was very unexpected--with great twists and turns.

STAR WARS 7: THE FORCE AWAKENS (Indian 6-sheet):

I do not know what possessed me to buy this. I'm not a big STAR WARS fan. I guess the recent (and still occurring) STAR WARS frenzy had me thinking down the line towards the resell market. I only paid $30 for this plus shipping. I didn't even realize at first when i placed my snipe bid that it was from India. Ha!  Anyway, this is my first (and, I'm sure, probably LAST) 6-sheet poster. (If you have not noticed, with a few exceptions here and there, i've been regressing back to my first passion of US one sheets again.)

THE LEGEND OF TARZAN (Final release):

This is the 2nd and final one sheet for the new TARZAN flick. I already have the advance version with a different image...but neither poster does it for me. Hmm. Oh well, you know me and my TARZAN movies... I have all of the posters back to the mid-Gordon Scott era (plus one Lex Barker plus one re-release Weismeuller and even one from the silent era), so i "needed" this one as well. I saw the movie today, actually. It was okay--not great. It was what I expected--but also not what i expected. i wasn'r wild about the Skarsgard guy as Tarzan (he seemed very stiff--especially at the beginning). Christof Waltz was the villain and i usually like Waltz--but he was sort of wasted here. And all of the vine swinging looked very CGI. Oh well.

DEATH HOUSE:

This is clearly a poster for a movie that has been re-titled...but I am too lazy to bother looking it up. Ha! The poster was interesting so why not?

THE CHILD (Italian 4F):

I stumbled on this a long while back--about the time I scored the Italian 2F poster for THE CHILD with completely different artwork. I really liked this one as well--all of the zombies heading for the house--but it was pricey and a 4F (eeek! Those are just TOO LARGE), so i held off. It went on sale so i snagged it. How will I ever frame it and where will i ever hang it? Ha!

VOODOO WOMAN:

Although it's a little rougher than I normally like my posters, I am delighted (and surprised) that i "won" this old AIP / drive-in poster from the 50s. Very keen!

THE EVIL DEAD (Thai):

Here's another surprise--a Thai EVIL DEAD (I already had the Thai EVIL DEAD 2) for far cheaper than I have seen around in a long time. How did I score that? I THINK it was because the seller failed to list (except in the description) that the poster was Thai. Those searching for Thai copies wouldn't necessarily find it. Those looking for the US one sheet wouldn't want it either. There were bids, but the final price was far less than other dealers have it listed at. Hooray!

THE UNEARTHLY:

Zowie! Another unexpected vintage 50s drive-in poster win for me I got with a snipe. This is a pretty crappy movie--but it (and the poster) features John Carradine, Tor Johnson and Allison (the "50 Ft Woman") Hayes! Yowza! "Guaranteed to Frighten!"

BEACH GIRLS AND THE MONSTER:

Whoo hoo!  I am utterly, UTTERLY surprised/delighted to have won this. While this auction was running, I was on the final 3 hour drive home on the last leg of my road trip. I had placed bids on several things before starting off and I was outbid on everything else (I actually DID shockingly try to re-bid on things a few times while driving. Shhh! Don't rat me out!  But I ended up just letting them go...). When i discovered this was actually mine I was totally elated. A few months back i tried to get a copy. Jeff had even seen it listed and had sent me a text, telling me that the poster looked like something I needed for my collection...but it went too high and I let it go. Waaaagh! I had been regretting it ever since. However this copy went for at least $30 or $40 less than the other copy. Yahoo! And what a groovy, kitschy, cheesy poster...with music by Frank Sinatra Jr. Kowabunga!

[/img]

ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE:

Wow! Wow! Wow! Another poster i never thought I'd have...and it's now mine! I love this old movie. I used to watch it Saturday mornings on an old afternoon horror double feature show when I was a kid. It (and other great horror flicks of the 50s and early 60s---such as THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN, ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN, ATTACK OF THE MUSHROOM PEOPLE, BURN WITCH BURN, etc.--were repeated over and over every few months.)  I love it. Yahooooo!!!!

Okay poster pals...that's my 13 posters for this mid-month posting. I hope you are staying cool and finding hot poster bargains!  Whoo hoo!

Here's a photo from my trip...me in a tiki bar in Portland and, eek! My drink is on fire! Yikes!

STEVE: The poster is in wonderful condition. I am pleased as punch with it. Is that a puppet person in your pants or have you just come from figure drawing class again? Thanks for stopping by (and did I really just make that lame, in poor taste joke? UGH!).

TED:  WHERE have you been?  I was worried about you. in fact i sent you a short note a while back wondering if something had happened to you. golly, it is good to see you on here again. Sorry it took so long to catch up on my posters...but that's what you get for not being here. Really--it's awesome to have you back on board! Thanks for looking and leaving a note.

+1 here too, Shawn.

Good looking PP one sheet and in great shape, too.

And your IT 4F for The Child is totally creepy and I really like the Mafe art.   thumbsup.gif

I agree with the size factor, too. I don't have any 4F, probably for the same reason of how I would ever display one.

Hi JEFF! You caught me on my way to bed. (5 am comes earlier and earlier every day it seems. Groan...). Thanks for the nods toward the PUPPET PEOPLE and THE CHILD. I have half a dozen or so 4Fs....how does one even frame them since they are in 2 pieces? I doubt I'll buy more---but you never know. The regular 2Fs are plenty big enough. Yowzer! Anyway, thanks for coming by. Cheers!

Some linen back them and others maybe minimally put the 2 halves together with archival paper tape and then let the frame, mat and backing provide the rest of the support. But the wall space needed is what would get me. As an example, I own only one US 3-sheet and I think the same thing about that, too (framing and display-wise).  faint2.gif

The unearthly poster is brilliant, great pick up there mate, although it is def one of those cases where the poster is far better than the movie. I'll add that to my ever growing "Want List" which seems to be getting longer, i cross one off the list then add three - it will never end i feel and i hope it doesn't

It's BONUS poster-a-go-go time once again, kiddies. WHY? Because I just got a bunch of stuff I'm not "wild" about (WHY do i continually do that?) and i don't want to "save" any of it for my regular posts on the 1st and 15th.Meh. Here they are---or just skip this bonus post altogether.

HOT AND DEADLY :

This was part of a lot--otherwise I'd have passed. i probably already have a copy of this from other lots. Snore...

NIGHT MUST FALL :

Another lot "win". Yawn...

EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC :

Don't get me wrong. I love my EXORCIST movies---even the bad ones (well, EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING and especially the alternate version DOMINION...are clearly exceptions). I'd watch EXORCIST 2 in a heartbeat if you asked. It's laugh-out-loud bad. But i already have the poster...several copies, in fact. Another part of a "lot", of course...

Hmm. There were a few (four) others, but I think i might just save those after all--unless some really stellar ones come along. Maybe I'll be lucky and NOT win (i.e. spend money) anything else for the rest of July? (Who am i kidding? it's only 3 days after my last posting and I'm already saddled with 7 more posters. ARGH!)

Go back to what you were doing (which, no matter how mundane, was probably infinitely more interesting than this posting). CHA-CHA-CHEERS!

Oh my stars!  Yesterday I was whining because...in just three days since my July 15th post, I had somehow managed to buy seven lackluster posters (three of which i posted yesterday). Today alone I bought another seven posters!  ARGH!!!!  This is CRAZY!  I need to STOP! Anyway, I thought I'd throw up another BONUS post with one of the ones I did not post yesterday and four of today's purchases. That will leave me six to work with towards my Aug. 1st posting. Hopefully I will NOT buy any more...

MANIAC COP:

I don't know why I felt compelled to buy this. I've NEVER seen the movie (and it must be okay as it spawned a few sequels). The poster is not even all that great (a silhouette of a cop holding out his badge? Really? That's it?). Ho hum. It's mine now any way -- like it or not.

THE PURGE:

I am planning on seeing the new PURGE film tomorrow. I didn't see the first PURGE in the theater, but I did catch the 2nd one--and was pleasantly surprised. It was a good movie. I caught the original on DVD and was also pleased with it. Although the posters do not do much for me, I thought I'd quickly scoop up one for each in the series. The series (at least the first two) are good--so there MIGHT be an interest in these down the road... Hmm.

THE PURGE: ANARCHY:

Nothing too exciting, as i mentioned above. However, this poster shows a June 20th date...which is incorrect. The release date was pushed up two days and it opened June 18. There are other versions of this poster out there with the corrected date.

THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR:

I should be seeing this tomorrow. Of the three posters for the three films, this is my favorite. I just hope my expectations are met. Fingers crossed it is as good as the first two.

THE SHALLOWS:

Like the PURGE posters, I bought this today in anticipation of seeing the film. Only unlike the PURGE, I saw this film mere hours after the purchase. The movie was good--but not what I was expecting.

I hope you are somewhere cool--and not sweltering away like I've been doing the last few days working on my mom's house. UGH!

I am in a slump or just have the blahs...or something. I'm just not "feeling it" these days. I just bought a bunch of stuff from our pal Rich's Movie Poster Bids auction tonight (hence the MPB watermark on them all)---bargains galore! But neither the auction or the wins (super cheap! Golly, how lucky!) did much for me. I have 6 new posters. I'll hold a few back but I'm going to go ahead and post the rest here as yet ANOTHER BONUS POST.

BEASTMASTER 2: THROUGH THE PORTAL OF TIME:

Yes, there WAS a sequel to BEASTMASTER (there were actually two sequels. Part 3 was a TV movie)--and yes, it is just as bad as you think it is. I don't know why I needed this poster. But, for $5, it's mine. (Now if Rich will only tell us how to pay on his new site....or does he still send invoices?) Thank you, Rich.

LILIES:

I don't even know what this is. I think I remember clicking on it to see what it was (it was listed as an "art house" film--never heard of it), but don't recall bidding. Maybe I got it confused with something else I was bidding on? Or maybe I just bid out of habit? C-9 condition probably caught my eye...who knows? I almost didn't even bother posting this, but what the heck? $5 and another poster is mine...

GHOST:

I never bothered to get this poster before. The image never did it for me and the movie was "just okay" in my book. Like the other posters tonight, I bid. I won. End of story.

WATCHMEN:

I'm not a super hero movie fan. I DID see this in the theater though (at the bargain, second run theater that is). The only thing I remember about it is that there was a big giant naked blue ghost (?) guy who they kept trying block shots of his "junk" (only because he really didn't have any "junk" to hide as the long shots so vividly showed! Ha!). I know it was popular/cult-y...so i bid on the poster (gasp--someone had already bid on it--so i had to bid a dollar or two more. Didn't expect to get it--but whoever gave up on it way too easily. It's mine now).

AMAZON WOMEN ON THE MOON:

No idea what this is---but it has a big cast. The reason i bid on it (only bidder... !!??!!) was that the one word review "SHAMELESS" was at the top of the poster. REALLY! Ha!

THE LEGACY:

This movie is rather disappointing...and I already have this poster. My copy is, I remember, rather rough around the corners (thumb tack hole wear--shocking!). The reason I got this is because--well, yes, it could be an upgrade from what I already have...but the REAL reason is because in all of the years since i got my original copy of this poster (this was probably one of my first 10 posters ever), this is the only other one I have seen with the likeness of stars Katherine Ross and Sam Elliot on it. All of the other posters I've seen just feature the hand and the cat's head. This poster is not all that collectible---but even so, this is the rarer version. Whatever. $5. Sold.

Okay--I wasn't going to post all 6 wins from tonight. I was going to save a few for my Aug. 1st posting... But what the heck? I'm just "out of it" and do not care tonight. So exhausted...I finished up working on mom's house tonight. It goes on sale tomorrow.

Off to bed. Thank you again Rich for the opportunity to score some bargains. I'm just sorry I'm not more enthusiastic tonight.
