Hello!  I have more posters to share from my bum knee, nothing-to-do-but-sit-on-the-terrace-and-shop-with-my-credit-card-that-still has-lots-of-room trip to Maui. (Soooo stupid of me. I'm living in a house of cards that is inching towards total collapse--and I just sit and laugh about it. I just ran to rescue $11.21 from an old bank account I had completely forgotten about that I got a notice from saying they were going to forfeit it to the state if I didn't close it out or make a deposit by today. Ha! Maybe this is my "mid-life crisis"? Ha! I don't know...)

Anyway...

ARI: I looked you up on the map of Australia. Your town still seems like a good-sized town (shows up bigger than other towns on the map). That's good. I thought you were in some desolate, far off place in the back country with a population of about 7 or something. Glad you are at least in a nice, sea-side area.

JEFF: Google IS a wonderful tool. But your inquisitive mind is thoughtful enough to go searching for the info. Most others don't bother. That's why you always get so many kudos for your knowledge (whether it is recently acquired or not). Bravo!

Rosa: Why the nickname Jano? I've since looked him up. Saw him referenced under his real name and nick name--but don't know why the nickname. He does do nice work. Apparently he also did my early 80s WIZARD OF OZ poster I got awhile back as well. Nice! I'll keep an eye out for more. THANKS!

And now, here are 10 more posters I should NOT have purchased---but I'm just stupid that way...

AIRPORT (International version): Darn it all. I totally meant to include this on my last posting to go along with my travel/flight analogy I was making in the narration of my display of international posters. Grrr. Oh well. I'm a ding dong. But anyway, yes! I finally have an English version of the International poster for the original "Airport". I've always preferred this version over the US one sheet. Neither are that exciting really, but the US posters just has large blocks showing the cast. BORING! This one shows the cast, smaller and off to the side. It at least shows an airplane taking off with the title dramatically repeated below it. This is my LEAST favorite of the AIRPORT films. I like the cheesy sequels better. I'm still terrified of flying either way.

HERCULES AND THE TYRANTS OF BABYLON: As I've said elsewhere on my thread, I really dig those old peplum/sword & sandal/ Hercules flicks from the 50s and 60s. I prefer the ones with magic/monsters/etc...those with imagination. The straight dramatic ones are kind of dull--like this one and the one below. However, they seem to be so hard to come by (the US one sheets, at least) that I'll snatch them up if they're the more mundane titles or not. This Hercules stars Rock Stevens, who is actually Peter Lupis from the original "Mission Impossible" series.

HERCULES AGAINST THE BARBARIAN: Another Herc flick. This one is a real snoozer, but as I said above, if I come across one, i'll but it.

HELP ME... I'M POSSESSED: Oh my stars! What a laugh out loud silly title. How could I NOT buy this little gem? I'm sure the film is crapola-I mean, who has even heard of it? I actually think I have it on DVD--either from Something Weird or a bootleg. I've gotten this poster once before (both copies were super cheap), but the last copy had a hole in it. I'll have to dig the DVD out and give it a watch. Ha!

CARNIVAL OF CRIME: This poster was also a cheapy. Not many people will have heard of this one either, I imagine. I recognized the poster art as having been recently used in a box set of public domain (?) flicks I watched not too long ago. It was mostly horror flicks, but this movie was included. I don't remember much about it other than it was a crime caper, set in Brazil and in black & white. They kept showing off the city (the capitol Brasilia, I believe), showing how marvelously modern it was. I don't remember the flick that well, but I do remember thinking the city looked quite dull. Oh well.

GOLIATHON: This is not an image of the actual poster I got--just something found online to demonstrate. There was never a full photo of mine on the listing, so...  I have the re-release poster as "The Mighty Peking Man", but never the original release as "Goliathon". It's interesting that it totally downplays the giant King Kong-like creature. Hmm.

KRAMPUS: If you haven't noticed, I don't buy many new movie posters--or seldom do. I'll get the new Bond poster ("SPECTRE") eventually and any of the horror franchises ("Halloween", "Friday the 13h", "A Nightmare on Elm Street", Romero's "Dead" series, etc.) that come along. But by and large I am not turned on by the newer generation of movie poster. This one is an exception. Wow! I don't know what this is, but I do want to see it now that I know about it. I don't know why it works for me--perhaps because it is an artistic rendering instead of the tired and overused photoshop poster that is constantly in use today? Plus it's a holiday horror---gotta love those (and there have not been many lately).

MARDI GRAS MASSACRE:  Speaking of holiday horrors, this is about the only 80s holiday horror I didn't have yet. I have "Halloween", "Mother's Day", "April Fool's Day", "My Bloody Valentine", "Prom Night", "Graduation Day", etc...but "Mardis Gras Massacre" has always eluded me. Since my trip to New Orleans though, I had to have one--even though the movie is a complete turd-o-rama.

EQUINOX: This is an example photo again--not an actual photo of my poster--but I got this one recently as well. I saw this years ago as a kid. I thought it was cool. I bought it on DVD a few years ago and watched it with friends. It was my first time seeing it in eons. My friends hated it and we watched something else. I later finished watching it and it had not held up. But, for a college film in the late 60s/early 70s, I thought they did a good job. It's just impossible for something like this to compete in today's market. Still, it was a groovy little nugget from my childhood, so...

BLACK LOLITA: Zowie! I love my gimmicks...and 3D is one of the best. The new 3D has a nice clear picture and plenty of depth--but the "coming out at you"-ness of the new 3D is just NOT there like it was in the vintage stuff. You can even see that in the advertising. The new 3D movies just have a little blurb on the credits saying they are in 3D--big deal. But the vintage (80s and back) 3D flicks really sold it in the poster--and this is a great example, with Black Lolita kicking her legs right out of the screen while other characters spill out of the screen further on. I'm sure this 70s (?) sexploitation flick is crappy, but the poster is uber cool--and has long been on my want list.

And that's all I've got for today.

CHEERS!

"Jano" is a comic character, a bohemian painter created by Jano when he was 14.

Francisco/ Jano left the comic business and when he started "painting" posters he decided to sign those as "Jano".

Does this help?

You are just going for poster gold, there, MAGG!

Another nice haul... all the way around. And Im with you on current release posters, for that very same reason. That's why I also think the Krampus OS works SO well. Beautifully done, detailed and rendered art.

Thanks Jeff. I am glad you agree with me that the illustrated/painted pieces are much nicer than the photoshop done posters. And now...off to do a zillion errands and hit a required meeting at work (first time I'll have been there since Sept. 9th). O' the joy...

Thanks for visiting.

Cheers!

This was a brazilian/argentinean coproduction. Apparently the movie is pretty boring, but I will have to start collecting paper on it in the future.

I'm B-A-C-K with more of my recent purchasing madness to share!

But first...

STEVE: Glad you like "BLACK LOLITA". I am a total sucker for those old posters that are for 3D flicks. That one IS a find! Thanks!

110x75:  Why the interest in CARNIVAL OF CRIME all of a sudden? Why are you now wanting to collect paper on it? Is it because it is Brazilian? Hmm.

JEFF: Re: GOLIATHON. I agree with you. The monster/giant yeti thing IS taking a backseat to the jungle girl. Can you imagine guys who want to see the jungle girl getting annoyed with the whole Yeti thing? And those who wanted a monster flick thinking...is this a female Tarzan movie? Pass! I'd personally rather have a GIANT monster (i.e. KING KONG or another title below) on a poster than a jungle girl, but that's because my taste in posters tends to run that of an 8 year old kid! Ha!

TED: Yes. Rosa is a wonderful help on here. I'm also glad you approve of my "EQUINOX"! Whoo hoo! I've wanted one for years!

ARI: Glad you are so passionate about "EQUINOX". Really, not many people know the movie these days. I do realize it inspired "The Evil Dead". I like it--bought the poster, didn't I?--but the night I watched it (or tried to watch it) with my friends and they found it dull, I realized that, for me, it hadn't aged well. I still think, as I said, for a little college film from the late 60's/early 70s, it is amazing. But it's "creaky", ya know? Dated. You really have to be in the right frame of mind to watch it these days (at least I do if I were to watch it again). Glad you totally dig it though. I have a soft spot for it, that's for sure. But it's not as awesome to me as it once was.

Now to more of my gotta-be-off-my-feet-and-there's-nothing-to-do-but-poster-hunt shopping madness! EEK!  Hang on!

OOPS! I totally forgot about these other international tidbits...

From Poland, my first POLISH posters:

WOMEN DOCTORS:  I know NOTHING about this movie--never heard of it--but what a wild image! Those Poles (is that how you spell it? Pols?) have some bizarre-O posters!

CHILD'S SCENES OF PROVINCIAL LIFE: Speaking of bizarre-O posters, dig this Polish poster for something called CHILD'S SCENES OF PROVINCIAL LIFE. Huh? Lips biting other lips. What ARE they sniffing in Poland? Jeepers!

From Turkey (and that reminds me, Happy belated Canadian Thanksgiving! Ha!)

JAWS: Zowie! Once I got myself (finally) a US "JAWS" one sheet, the Turkish version was immediately in my sites. Why? How could it not be with the shark actually EATING a swimmer! Ha! Now the naked girl on the US version is all fine and dandy (How many books did that cover sell alone do you imagine?), but having it actually EAT someone--wow! That's what it's all about.

PIRANHA:  I LOVED the original PIRANHA! For a little low-budget JAWS rip-off, it was fun, had some great tension and some nifty effects. I already have the US one sheet (they used to be soooo cheap!), but always wanted something with this funky alternate artwork. This Turkish one will do.

ZOMBIE: I also have the US one sheet for "Zombie", but thought since I was getting those other Turkish posters, I'd just snap this one up too. Different art--not the greatest, but not bad.

Back here in the US, I picked up a '70s Harry Reems porn poster, "THE FLASHER": I don't remember what I was thinking when I picked this up. I've never seen it, but it does star Harry Reems (still milking the DEEP THROAT/DEVIL IN MISS JONES notoriety. Isn't he dead now?) and is one of those probably hard to find 70s porn titles from before home video. I don't know--just thought it may be worth something some day.

MUTINY IN OUTER SPACE: This looks like cheesy fun...and it's a Wolner Brothers Production, so it must be deliciously second rate. Ha! Look at the guy and girl trying to grab a ride (?) on the giant space tentacle! What the heck is that? Ha!

ROBOCOP: Yeah... the ROBOCOP series never did it for me. I saw the original and its two sequels in the theaters just because it was something to do--but didn't bother with the recent remake. I just got this, the one sheet for the original movie, as an investment for down the road...

MAY: Oh my stars! Have you seen this flick? Not many people have. I love this quirky little horror movie. It stars Angela Bettis (and the was before the TV "Carrie" remake she was in). She's deliciously awkward and psycho. Odd little movie--but not to everyone's taste. Check it out (or don't). I'm just thrilled to have the one sheet for it. Yippie!

REPTILICUS: Zowie!  It's another super groovy vintage monster movie poster. Yahoo! I've wanted a REPTILICUS for ages. Sure, it's a poster for a poor man's GODZILLA, but this poor man will never be able to afford a poster for the original GODZILLA!  I have to settle for the knock-offs, and I LOVE the posters for them any way!  Yippie! Yippie!  Yippie!

And now, the bed is calling... Good night! Thank you ever so much for popping by.

CHEERS!

Completely understand re Equinox, and you are right, it could be timing, sometimes I rewatch a film and think WTF, then re-rewatch and GET IT AGAIN, all about mood on the day (plus watching with people who like it Vs people who dont makes a difference).

Nice new haul. especially the  Polish

Because it's partly argentinean  ;)
The interest is not sudden. Got my eyes on paper on the film a while ago, but it always gets left behind for other poster priorities. Oh, the struggle!!  ;D

Howdy!  Too much sugar in my system (damn mini candy bars for Halloween. I'm supposed to be making little treat package surprises for friends--not eating the treats!  Ha!). So---you get MORE of my poster purchasing frenzy!

But first...

ARI: So glad you understand about frame of mind, etc. I may have to watch EQUINOX again soon (if I can find it--Ha!) Glad you like my Polish posters. My first... They are so --DIFFERENT!

ROSA: Eye candy? Okay--NO calories in looking! Yippie!  Glad you like REPTILICUS and EQUINOX. Cheers!

MATIAS: Ah, you are into all things Argentine? How cool. I had no idea CARNIVAL OF CRIME was a co-Argentine production. The things you learn here...

JEFF: Hmm. My official guess is...  It's one from the last 10 posters I posted?  I am going to guess it's the Turkish JAWS poster???  Well????

STEVE: Zowie! Reptilicus is cool, but you are also groovin' on MUTINY IN OUTER SPACE? Awesome--and thank you. Have you seen it? Is it as cheesy as it looks? Astounding adventure from the center of the moon!  Golly!

And now on to the posters...

MOVIE STAR AMERICAN STYLE:  Ha! Look at this silly poster. A fake Marilyn and "Hilarious scenes in LSD color." Oh my!  I need to see this film, I think. Looks like a hoot.

DRIVE-IN MASSACRE: Ugh. I remember when this poster was a dime a dozen. Now--not so cheap. Luckily I got this in a bulk lot of posters. Not the greatest poster on the planet, by far. But I sort of wanted it (especially since drive-ins are all but gone these days...) and could kick myself for not getting it back in the cheap days. Filmed entirely in bloodcurdling gore color! Yowza!

HOSPITAL MASSACRE: Another bulk lot piece. Nothing exciting really although it does star Barbi Benton--any one remember her? Ha! Also known as "X-RAY" and apparently THIS is the film that was advertised at the end of "NEW YEARS EVIL" as being "BE MY VALENTINE...OR ELSE"! (That mystery is finally solved!) I've nbever seen it though, but from what I have read I ain't missing much.

BLOOD DINER: I saw this back in the VHS era...and didn't like it. I was expecting something--I don't know what--and all I got was a lame horror comedy. Snore. BUT the poster graphics are way cool and who knew it ever had a theatrical release? Hmm...

SPIRIT OF SEVENTY-SEX:  Okay--I have a couple of porn titles. Not my usual thing, but... I've not seen this, but I thought the spoof of the patriotic trio was clever and this clearly dates back to the 1970s. This is NOT my poster. The photo with the listing had problems. This was the best alternative I could find online.

VASELINE ALLEY: Another porn I have not seen. I think this may be 80s. Why did I get it? Well, aside from the sleazy title--eew!--I thought it was rather odd for a straight porn film to be hyping the appearance of a Burt Reynolds look-a-like. Really? Guys want to see a Burt Reynolds clone in action? Uh... kind of doubt it. How many films did Burt Dreynolds do any way? I'm guessing not too many. Interesting curio though. But the real reason i bought it was because it made me laugh. YEARS ago, a friend and I visited the long-gone Movieland Wax Museum in Buena Park. At one point during the route through the museum, you had to stop and have your picture taken (for purchase at the end of the museum if you chose) with some guy. He walked up to me, shook my hands and said "Hi.I double for Burt Reynolds". He never even said his real name--he was just some schmo the museum had hired (wouldn't a wax figure have been easier/more appropriate?). My friend and I laughed about that for days (and no, we did not buy the photos with him). I don't think it was him, but part of me wonders if Burt Dreynolds was the dude from the wax museum. Ha!

CHATTERBOX:  Easing away from the porn, we get this movie that was clearly inspired by DEEP THROAT--but went the other direction. CHATTERBOX is the story of a woman who has an extra voice box (with a mind of its own, too, apparently) down "there". It's an R-Rated comedy. I've never seen it (but have seen the trailer  Steve, this is for you...maybe? https://youtu.be/41IsnJUOVgo ). It looks god awful and I've heard it is...but I almost want to see it. Ha!

WARRIOR OF THE LOST WORLD:  This "MAD MAX" ripoff was cheap. I've never seen it, but there were a lot of those post apocalyptic flicks in the 80s (mostly Italian). Hmm. Could be trashy fun.

FLIGHT TO TANGIER: This also makes me think of Steve...another vintage 3D poster. But the poster makes me laugh, too. I've never seen the flick--but the title FLIGHT TO TANGIER is very pronounced on the poster...and the male lead, at least at first glance, looks like he has his arms out and is running around playing like he is an airplane, like kids sometimes do. That cracks me up (or maybe I'm just THAT tired?).

KING KONG ESCAPES: Finally--giant monster time again...times TWO!  KING KONG ESCAPES features not only KONG but also his mechanical twin MECHA-KONG!  Ha! I already have a copy, but this was only $15. How is that possible? I couldn't let it slip away that cheap. I'll have to compare it to my other copy and eventually re-sell one. LOVE my KONG movies/posters though.

Okay--has my sugar rush subsided? Hopefully.

Nighty night, pussycats!

I thought the guy in the lower right inset image was, ahem, rogering the lady, until I think I figured out what it was.

STEVE: Perhaps you are right. He is coming at her from behind. Perhaps that's where the tag line--Astounding Adventure From The Center of the Moon--comes from. SHOCKING!

TED: Scour some some cinematic dumpsters indeed. I totally dig the poster too. It has a wonderful sleazy feel to it. I'd really love to see the flick. I wonder if it's been unearthed and is available? I'll have to look...

MATIAS: How cool being in Argentina! This will seem dumb, since I have not seen many (any?) Argentine (Argentinian?) films, but one of my favorite flicks is set in Argentina. Maybe you've seen it? "Apartment Zero"? Cool little flick--about a guy obsessed with movies and a drifter. (Neither are from Argentina, now that I think about it. Hmm.)

JEFF: Yes, the great Albert Zugsmith! Ha! I was going to just laugh him off as a great nobody with a silly name. WHO has ever heard of him? But then I looked him up and I am familiar with his other work (He actually has other work! Ha!) He actually produced Orson Welles' "TOUCH OF EVIL" (!), "THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN", "THE BEAT GENERATION", "HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL", and directed "SEX KITTENS GO TO COLLEGE" and "CONFESSIONS OF AN OPIUM EATER" among others. Zowie--I used your Google super powers!  Look out! Ha!
