A visit to the Noriyoshi Ohrai art exhibition in Japan
« on: November 07, 2014, 05:44:17 PM »
Hi all,

In March this year I travelled from the UK to Japan to visit ace artist Noriyoshi Ohrai's first exhibition since 1981. On display were almost all of his incredible original artworks for the likes of Star Wars and the Heisei era of Godzilla films, but these were just the tip of the iceberg. I've written up a report of the trip and also added an extensive biography of the artist that I had specially translated from the exhibition catalogue.

Here's the link and I hope you enjoy! Visiting the Noriyoshi Ohrai exhibition in Japan

It must have been really cool to see all of those works of Mr. Ohrai, and mighty cool of them to give y'all the VIP tour.

Funny caption on some of the photos: Photography was not permitted of the artwork so this shot is a bit cheeky. My apologies to the museum staff!  rofl1 I'm sure that a lot of people, if given the opportunity, would snap a few photos of all that rad stuff.

Great writeup.  Looking forward to future articles on your excellent website.  cool1

Another credit to your amazing website, Eddie. Many thanks for such an interesting read.  thumbsup.gif

Mr Ohrai is such a talented artist; prolific and yet with such consistently high quality across a range of subjects. I love the colours he uses and the vibrancy it creates, such beautiful work and perfect for Sci Fi/Fantasy. I would gladly buy all this work on paper, it's a shame they didn't release a large big set of commercial posters of his work to go with the exhibition, but I suppose it's not as easy as that.
