Da' BigBoss' frenzy !!
« on: September 04, 2014, 07:55:16 AM »
Gonna post stuff I bought in the past year here...   Mostly African-thema posters !

ODONGO (1956), Australian edition.
This Australian poster has a great drawing of Samburu warrior. "From Kenya to the Congo, the greatest is Odongo !"
Original 1956 Australian poster, one sheet (27" x 39 3/4" - 69 x 101 cm)

SOMETHING OF VALUE (Danish, 1959) (set in Kenya)
The movie, based on the book of the same name by Robert Ruark, portrays the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya. It shows the colonial and native African conflict caused by colonialism and differing views on how life should be lived. It stars Rock Hudson as the colonial and Sidney Poitier as the native Kenyan. The two men grew up together but have drifted apart at maturity.

IVORY HUNTER (US, 1952)

TARZAN THE APE MAN (Spanish, Rerelease 1968), linenback.
Love the Kili in background !

Are u in Tanzania or Kenya?  How much as it changed from the poster?  I went on a safari 15 years ago and there was still snow, but I heard it is quickly disappearing.

17 years in Nairobi (Kenya), so mid-distance between Mt Kenya (Kenya) and Mt Kilimanjaro (Tanzania)...  Indeed, there is less and less snow on the snow-capped mountain.

Here is a picture of how the Kili looks like nowadays. That is... if you manage to see it because even you are near it you can't see it !!!

I hope you had a nice stay and safari in East Africa, a very beautiful region !!

AFRICA TEXAS STYLE, Australian daybills rerelease 60s (with Mt Kenya in backdrop !!)

With Mt Kenya !!

On this poster, the amount of eye shadow and lip rouge that Rock Hudson is wearing is giving Dana Wynter a run for her money. He could almost be cast in a silent flicker.  ;D
