Chop's avatar is the original black and white logo/banner that was created by Thierry's wife back in 2009. When I first came across this original banner on APF's facebook page, that very image was the first tried here on the forum.

But some members said that the B/W image didnt work with the light blue background, and still others Pmd and said that the actual name of the forum should be on it.

Because of those comments/suggestions, the banner was altered (extended on the left), tinted and the name added.

The simple, original design is bold and the "best", but I'm sure there's a lot more altering that can still be done if anyone else wants to change anything on it.  Maybe some floating head images, CGI stuff, some special effects, etc.  

For the record, it's not a big deal to me.  As I said before, I like the original, unaltered version the best.

Yes, the B&W version screams "vintage". We are collectors of vintage posters. The car in the banner is a vintage car. The most expensive movie posters are for B&W movies.

I do like the frame (the previous one with the white border that made it appear linen-backed). Even the text isn't bad. I would just replace the blue tint with the softer B&W version. Revert to the previous frame style, extend the right side of the banner to the right border and place the blog text inside the frame to even out the other text. Then make the entire banner a link that reverts to the home page.

Edit: The left text would look alright staying blue even with the image portion being B&W.

Take the "APF" off the hillside on the logo since you already have the entire site name on the left side and and replace the letters with actual posters that are being lit up. Also as I've stated before the blue hue of the logo is terrible. Let the original B&W image contrast with the color of the posters on the hillside. And bring back the black frame border for the banner.

The forum banner with the snow is very nice  . It feels like Christmas to me however for USAians it reminds of the blizzard of a lifetime ( or thereabouts)

I was having a little fun, since it is winter time and snowy in much of the US, Canada and Europe.

But if it's too "Xmas-y" feeling, it can easly go back to the other... not a problem.
