After years of waiting, I finally found the Vienna travel poster I'd long been lusting after. Couldn't be happier!

Many congratulations. This is really beautiful- is this a pre-2wwar poster? The cars do look from the 30s?

I love it!

Glad you like it too Rosa. I have a bit of a thing about Vienna so I was naturally delighted. My researches managed to drag up a date of 1937. All very elegant I agree!

Monocle, is the building portrayed in your poster still standing and in existence? (did it survive the war?)

What a beautiful litho.. it looks top shelf!  clap clap

Good lord Jeff! Totally missed this comment!!

Yes the Opera House is still there in all it's glory, and the modern view has hardly changed at all...

Vienna is a wonderful city Jeff. I you haven't been, I strongly suggest you go. I think I've visited five times now and intend to revisit next year. The last week of November/ first week of December is a splendid time to visit. You get the the Imperial grandeur of the city and the Christmas Markets too. And of course you also have the 'Third Man ' museum. If you love the film as I do, then that is a treat.

What a great museum, to focus on The 3rd Man. And no, Nick, i have never been, but would love to see it some time.

The city looks splendid, so full of rich history, and, of course, once I had seen Amadeus, too, that solidified my desire to want to travel there, and spend some time wandering its streets, at some point.

It's the same for many cities in Europe and wanting to see them. The historical and architectural aspects all fascinate me, since we are all so "new" over here.

Best of the bunch:

I have too much free time and too few Egyptian pounds so I altered/reproed/printed my favorite travel poster - 1939 vintage (24x36, 150DPI):

Best of the bunch:

I would pick the TWA Greece, as I collect TWA posters with the older propeller driven Constellations. The posters with the jet planes you can consider many as re-issues as they originally showed the prop planes but were updated with the jet planes.

Last post 'bout my inconsistently-poster-disdaining 29yo female cousin:

A few years ago, I saw some horrendous-quality repro Hawaii travel posters at the Air and Space Museum in DC. Obviously the museum staff found some small images of 1950s-1970s travel posters and incompetently "blew them up" and printed them up for literally many many thousands of visitors to "enjoy."

Mightily miffed, I looked high and low on the Internet and found images of 397 decent(ish) travel posters, properly "blew them up" with Alien Skin Blow-Up software and spent many hours digitally repairing ALL of them (many were significantly aged/torn/dirty/etc.).I deposited them here:

https://www.facebook.com/pg/MoviePosterCollectors/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1428399510777321

And then moved on....

So yesterday I recalled that cuz had worked for eBay (???) in France. So I sent her these images (in XL size):

*****

Crickets? Nope, surprisingly an hour later she replied

She wanted a 24x36 (150 dpi) image of this:

Lovely ... but not thrills-ville IMO....
