Picked up nine "real" travel posters so far, in order of quality (IMO):

Nice pickups.

Travel posters, especially by David Klein, really stand out. This particular version of his "Egypt" poster is a later re-issue/re-printing with a more sleek, generic, modern plane image flying overhead. I actually saw this poster on Antiques Roadshow a year or so ago, and the appraiser explained this to the owner of that poster, as well.

Still such great imagery, especially for those that love the Egyptian backdrop (like me).  ;D

Here is the original, c. 1960 version of this poster. The plane in the sky is much more detailed, of the period and specific. The text at the bottom also varies slightly:

Thanks for showing that comparison Jeff.  I was aware of both versions and of course believed the second to be older - however, I thought 60s for the top version (with the sleek jet) and 50s for the below version.

Did your searching reveal anything on from when the "sleek jet" version dates if it is not 1960s?

Actually, there are between three and five different versions of each, with the plane changing, but the rest mostly the same.

All things considered I guess I'd prefer the older propeller plane version but the generic white jet is shown on most TWA posters and is somewhat less distracting from the scenery.

Chris, from what I have read so far, the "sleak jet" version was also done in 1960's-- the mid-60's was suggested. And with that kind of jet logo, it kept the poster looking current, so I can see why TWA would have opted for an image less design-specific.

Nice Mel. You already have a hawaii one up in the bathroom?

Here is an example of the New York variants

Rather effective billboard the Arizona Tourism office put up in Chicago this bitterly-cold winter:

Maybe it was a "sunglasses portrayed in poster art" collector?  ;)
