I asked because I bought a poster for $aud30 and sold for usd$1000 within a week, and this was when Aussie dollar was close to $usd.50 so, it was big profit % wise. But I got it cheap, so doesn't count.

Fantasia daybill. Listed on eBay start of $29.99 no pic, very sketchy description, I took a punt, it was posted in an envelope with no protection and stuffed in my letterbox, haha, but survived AOK.

Thinking about the King Kong insert and the $$ loss the seller took after holding a top piece for more than a decade reminded me about an article I read in the Wall Street Journal over the weekend on the art market http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/07/business/record-prices-mask-a-tepid-art-market.html?hpw&rref=business&_r=0.

Made me curious, I wonder what the highest price someone has paid for a piece for their own collection and then later sold for a profit?
Not like a DeLuca acting as a buyer and purchasing for a client, but a real collector paying top dollar for a piece and then selling it years later for a profit.

It would be interesting to see the numbers spent versus the profit made by Dwight Cleveland with his collection, when he finally sold it off. To see what highlights (and Im sure there were many) that made a nice chunk of change, compared to when he bought them initially.

And I'm sure Todd Feiertag is hoping to have an amazing result, too, one of these days, weeks or years, should one of his Universal Horror heavy hitters ever sell for close to what he's asking for them.

Once in a lifetime thing for me. There was more in the same deal but I honesty don’t like to brag about money. Especially cuz I don’t have much lol.
