Daybills that should exist!
« on: November 18, 2013, 01:22:34 AM »
Hello everyone!

Over my years of collecting I've compiled a list of films that should have a daybill but I've never seen / heard of one. I'm talking about films that had large, world-wide type releases or are from well known directors who've had films release in Australia before and after the particular title. Others may have recognized 'big stars' and some are simply ones I hope made it into the 13' x 30' format  ;)

If anyone can shed any DEFINITE information on the following films - or even better has a copy to sell  :) - I'd really appreciate it:

* The Stepford Wives (original).
* The Chosen (with Kirk Douglas).
* Rosemary's Killer.
* The Company of Wolves.
* The Dunwich Horror.
* The Blair Witch Project.
* Dawn of the Dead (original).
* The Hitcher (original).
* The Final Terror (80's Slasher).
* Graduation Day (80's Slasher).
* Just Before Dawn (80's Slasher).
* The Mack.
* Superfly.

There's more, but let's start here to begin with!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Blair Witch doesnt exactly have a daybill, but a small poster (or two or maybe three), i think some people call them Minis or something.
A little wider and a little shorter than a daybill.

I have a DAWN press sheet, theres no daybill to order.

Rosemarys Killer (The Prowler 1981) was I think refused classification until the video release in 1984 (where it was released cut)

My dream poster which may or may not exist is "The Mystery of the Marie Celeste" (1935) Daybill.
maybe one day one will show up. I've actually asked an artist friend whose art I really like, to design one and Ill print my own.

edit,

it WAS released here, so, one day I hope to find a poster for it.

Daybill is a mystery...and the story around this ship is another one.

I have colleagues in our shipping policy unit that are "obsessed" with this...great story.

I'm guessing Ari wants it for the Hammer connection... ;)

Ari, did you know Hammer/Exclusive also released the Peter Lorre film The Beast with 5 Fingers? not sure if they did in Oz though...

Shame about 'Dawn of the Dead'  :(

I think 'The Stepford Wives' is the one that puzzles me the most. It was a BIG film in 1975. I've been digging on the OFLC site and have found that it was passed for release with a 'M' rating on 1st September 1975. I guess the next step is to ascertain whether there were only one-sheets produced. That said, I don't think I've seen any Aussie paper for this film.

Or for some reason we used us material stamped?

Well, well, well!

It seems that there IS a daybill for 'The Stepford Wives' - and I just bought it! Hooray!  ;D

Oddly, the Australian release uses the iconic shattered head image but gives it an orangey - red background as opposed to the usual blue.

I'd love to show it to you all, but I simply can't work out APF image stuff! I click the 'insert image' button and it gives me this: [ img ][ / img ] - but what do I do next? Is there a way to simply cut and paste?

Upload your pic image to a photo hosting site like photobucket or flicker, then cut and paste the URL of that photo between the Insert image tags [ img] URL of photo [ /img ].

Good luck!

Do you have your pictures saved in photobucket or somewhere like that?

Nope - no Photobucket or Flickr accounts. My home computer set-up is very old and basic; I need to upgrade! Only problem is, I keep buying posters instead!  :)

You should still be able to use photobucket with an older setup. It's pretty easy to post pics when they are Ina photobucket account.

Regardless of your pc setup or its age, since you are online and have internet access, you can go in and open a free account at either of those sites. then upload the pics there, as the way to be able to show and post them here.   :D

If you set up a photobucket and transfer your pics there all you will have to do is copy and paste the IMG code that it gives you. This is the way I post all of my pictures. It is easy and doesn't take very long. If you have a lot of photos on your computer then it could take some time to transfer your pictures into photobucket. But once you are done then all you have to add are your new editions to your collection.
