EU based restorers / conservationists
« on: July 31, 2013, 07:17:19 PM »

Finding a suitable conservationist in the UK has yielded nutin but flakes.

I'm attempting to broaden my search to restorers within the EU. If anyone has firsthand experiences or recommendations that would be appreciated.

(EU only pls. Any further is simply not feasible with UK customs. I've had my own goods returned that I've had to pay VAT on - that's that shit I don't like)

Have you tried Graham Bignall... I think that's how it's spelt. He's based in London.

Unreel, I spelt it right...

Wow they look very professional, good find Paul. I did have a certain Alain bookmarked but I swiftly removed that after recent events. I might just get a quote from these guys.

A friend of mine has just had a poster done by Graham, and it looks jollyfine. It's getting it framed at the moment, but I'll post a pic when he gets it back...

It seems he does them in batches, so you have to wait until he has a few lined up, that said My friends was only 4 weeks...

Search his name and nightmare there's a thread devoted to him.

Unfortunately it seems that Alain Bourgouin is still doing ''his'' business. I am aware of another ''victim''.. this guy is taking him to the police..Alain has not been in touch with him since December 2012, so he lost his 2posters.. moron1

Wow I would be pissed out of my mind. What a douche bag. The guy needs to be taken to the cleaners and have everything taken from him.

Rosa , was this the fellow APF member (Eye Sea) who also posted in your "Nightmare" thread, a while back? Or someone new? If I recall, Eye See did get his 2 posters back, but one was damaged by Alain, due to his rapid fire, careless work, and the other was also done poorly, as well. (unless he had others with alain, too).  :-\

This is someone new, non APFr. He left 4!! (not 2 as I initially thought) with Poster SCIENCE- Alain Bourgouin-  and never heard back. :-\. I told him to contact Alain's ex- business partner. He is taking up the matter with the police.....

Looks like Poster Mountain have partnered up with antikbar to help UK residents (cheaper shipping I believe):

Thanks for the link! How totally dreadful. There's definitely space in the market for a good conservator over here!

Paul, did you ever get your pieces back from Graham? Are you happy with the work they did? And how did they turn out?

Were any pics taken of the reborn goodies?  :D

Couldn't get them this week Rosa, I'll be down there in two weeks, I know dragging on a bit, but as I always say time should never be the important part of Restoration, just quality. ;)
