Bruce Lee posters
« on: March 19, 2013, 03:08:22 PM »
I do think it's Time we had a Bruce Lee section, it will Stop Matt and me blocking up the Latest thread.

So I'm thinking any thing Bruce Lee related, Press-books, Lobbies, anything, I'll get a few pics of my stuff over the next few days, Matt may well have things he can post now, like his Campaign book...

I have none.  Zero.  Nada.  Rien.  Nichts.

Unlike Matt, I'm not a big fan of naked men flexing muscles on posters... ;)

Too bad Bieber doesn't have much muscle, otherwise you'd be all over him too.  Parker on the other end should be more appealing to you.

Until they can pull off convincing round house kicks they will have to remain in your collection.

No more Bieber please, my eyes, my eyes!

Cool thread Paul!

I love Bruce Lee and his films...he had so much charisma, a really amazing guy. I think Enter the Dragon or Fist of Fury are my favourite of his films. I'm also partial to films that owe much to him - particularly Fist of Legend (a remake of Fist of Fury staring Jet Li), Ip Man and Ip Man 2 with Donnie Yen (I went to Foshan when in China recently to see Ip Man's memorial area which has some cool Bruce photos and information) and I even have a soft spot for No Retreat, No Surrender (starring Bruce's ghost!)

I love those HK one sheets, Matt...very nice indeed. I can't imagine many of those survived?

I don't have many, I wish I had bought more quads about 6 or 7 years ago when they were less pricey. I keep meaning to ask - is there a quad for Way of the Dragon that has Bruce holding nunchukas? I'm sure I remember seeing one, but it could be my mind playing tricks...presumably they were taken out as they were a banned weapon or something. Anyway, here are the ones I have:

Enter the Dragon quad

Game of Death one sheet

Enter the Dragon Aus one sheet

Enter the Dragon video one sheet

Enter the Dragon - not sure what this is? It has the measurements of a DC, but could just be something for the soundtrack? Paul, any ideas?

I agree Tob, T has had his fun... now lets keep this new thread on track, shall we?

Possibly some helpful info for folks.  This site shows some of the various screen logos, although the dates are a bit off and they missed the most recent merger: http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/Golden_Harvest_(China)

1971-1972 (used for Big Boss through Way of the Dragon HK releases)

GH Circle Logo: The print logo during this time are the letters GH in the form of a circle

1973-1977/78 (used for Enter the Dragon HK release)

GH Wheat Logo: The print logo during this time are the letters GH with a wheat stalk in the right side of the H:

1978-2003 (Used for Game of Death)

GH Square Logo: The print logo during this time is the letter G made up of four rectangles in a square shape.

2003-2007

In 2007 Golden Harvest was bought by Orange Sky and distribution rights to Lee's films were sold to Fortune Star (at least in HK and possibly around Asia).

Nice Tob, I'll have to get some pics taken, I'm letting the side down already. Two things I never expected to see in here are Bieber, and SJP...Shudders....

No, there wasn't a "Way of" Quad with Bruce holding the Nunchaku. There was a stack of commercial posters of it though, including Kung-fu monthly...

Thanks Paul, I'll look forward to seeing your wares!

Cheers for the info on Way of the Dragon, I must have imagined it. It's a cool poster, would love to get one. One day, one day...

If you see the docu "BL the Man , the Legend" you can see the 2nd logo on official GH letter paper where Lee had written down some ideas for films and stuff......it's possible they were experimenting with logos before settling on the "straw" logo in '73.

Yup , I remember the quads were easier to find around 10 yrs ago (wouldn't go so far as to say plentyfull though , still rare)

Swedish censors banned just about all martial arts movies, but this one somehow made it through - with heavy cuts...
The tagline reads: FINALLY RELEASED BY THE GOVERNMENT!

Nice Armin... thumbup

I do wonder if the Japanese watching Bruce's films is a bit like the Germans watching WW2 films, if you get my meaning....
