A Nightmare On Elm Street
« on: February 11, 2013, 04:16:06 AM »
On the lookout for A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) UK quad. If anyone's got one for sale or can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

That's a tough one.
But hey, the house from the movie just went on the market.

This is hilarious.  This house is 5 minutes walking distance from mine.  Furthermore, it is on my Saturday morning jogging path.  I run up Genesee to the canyons.  I ran by it 100s of times.  Never knew it was there.  I will check it out this weekend, if there is an open house.

The neighborhood is great.  Picket fences all over, just at the bottom of the hill.  I'm planning on moving in the next 2-3 years and this is where I want to go.  I've told my wife many times.  So I'm dragging her to the open house.  It's a little too soon for us, we're still in the process of remodeling our own house, which we plan on renting, but I wouldn't mind moving into that Freddy house.  Although I'm not sure I'd do well with the Tour buses.

I've been by this house many times, as well. Nothing about the exterior really grabs your eye, unless you know this is the house that was used in the movie. Genesee is a very ordinary residential street, with homes of both the same era and similar design dotting it in that block.

Its the same feeling for the house used in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, over on McCadden, in Hancock Park. Great house, but many others that are right near it, that have the same feel, architecture or design elements. I'd go by at lunch and check it out, just to see it in person.

I disagree.  I've always loved this neighborhood, Jeff.  It's called Spaulding Square.  I really want to move there in the next 2-3 years.

Looks like the sort of neighbourhood Columbo would patrol.
Nice,

I love the neighborhood, too, T. I was just commenting on how this home more blends in with others in the same vicinity- similar styles, period built etc.

But I like that whole area, as well.  :)

T,

Have you ever checked out any of the homes in Lafayette Square, off of Crenshaw between Venice & Washington Blvds?

I need to be next to the hills.  I love hiking with my dogs.  It's my daily routine.

Anyhow, just took a few pictures on my way back from the trail...  First is the Freddy house, then surrounding houses.

2,700 square feet? What is it, a bungalow?

And orange seems to be the decorators fav colour, so there's an added expense once you've bought it, getting rid of the orange decor (benchtops) in the kitchen!

Not to mention those added, almost circular, archways. They make the rooms look a bit too closed off- but that was probably part of the intent.  ;)

Yeah, methinks that 60/70s retro look hasn't made the comeback the owner/decorator was hoping for...

Is that in the lounge a real God Save the Queen Sex Pistol's poster?

This house will be NOT be good for my ''beauty sleep'', it will creep me out. But happy to keep the poster. Not that sure about the curtains though 8)
