Posterazzi - Censorship for one and not for all?
« on: November 06, 2012, 09:46:53 PM »
If this forum is a non censored forum please explain how my Mexican friend is allowed to 'lock' his posts? (see under For Sale/Trade)

Effectively that means he is censoring this forum as HE sees fit, seems to go against what the original owners intended?

I suggest he is should either be banned for breaking the unwritten rule or his ability to lock his posts removed...or we just take him out the back to the Torture Garden---2---100k18

I say his account should be deleted... It's not censorship if his actions mimic a spambot.

while I don't agree that someone should be banned for locking their topic - as it is an option - it's just one of those things that shows what a (censored for ladies) that (censored for ladies) is

not sure I agree with Matt's comment above, however, I do think he makes a point

I find him almost as annoying as some other dealers here but it is a slippery slope.

In what is essentially an un-moderated, certainly uncensored, forum removing the lock ability ensures it stays that way.

There is no doubt he is a spammer, technically illegal - I can point you to probably a dozen if not more websites where he consistently just spams (not just the main poster forums). So by locking out his posts he removes the rights of others to post their thoughts, that is censorship - or are we now going down that road?

He doesn't care, he adds no value to this forum in any discussion, personally I'd rather see him removed simply because of his spamming but I understand and accept the reasons for not doing so (even if in this case I don't necessarily agree with it )therefore his posts should be 'unlocked' so it remains an equal forum for all.

A simple option Admin can attend to.

I have disabled the "lock topic" option for all but admins.  If someone wants to have their topic locked, just post a reply to your own topic asking that it be considered for locking.  Of course, we might just lock the damned thing if all that lorem ipsum shit keeps getting posted.  Just because you don't like what he's selling does not make him a spammer.  There are some people that have bought from him, I am sure.  While I don't like what he sells, nor do I like the format that he posts his for-sale items to, so far he has not been difficult.

There are some strong personalities on this board, and we entertain them all.  Be careful not to call the kettle black.

Just sayin....

Agreed, he doesn't actually do anything wrong, the most he could be accused of is over pricing, and indecipherable posts, but there's a couple of others who do at least one of these things. There's other people around who actually piss me off a hundred times more than this guy. We all have people who rub us the wrong way.

With the exception he is about the only one I can think of who does not contribute to one single conversation in this forum or in any other forum or any other website. If you are going to sell a product to others you might consider being a part of that which you leech off, common business sense. He's been doing this since the late 90s that I am aware of, he ONLY uses free forums/web hosts to peddle his wares it's the easiest way to start up another when he gets closed down.

Be careful not to call the kettle black.

No need to delete the guy... He's sort of like an ant mound, if you don't poke it with a stick it is just a pile of dirt...

Check his page views on ns4 I think it's clear he will stick around with nobody even looking let alone replying, he is persistent if nothing else.

Not a spammer? Look for his lovely name on each and every one of these pages, he doesn't go away if you ignore him he just increases the volume because you let him, hence his posts have increased here.

Whilst some of those are older posts, the point is still valid as he cares not where he posts nor how often, nor is any of his posts an actually post, simply a lame advert/link = SPAM.

And this in the last month just off the one website (report):
http://boardreader.com/s/posterazzi.html?d=1349654400&b=1352332799

NOTHING to do with me (or anyone else here) not liking what he sells and EVERYTHING to do with the fact he, in ANY language is the definition of a spammer.

David, are you miffed you didn't 'get' the other posterazzi thread and ended up looking a bit of a goose maybe after realising what was going on? Honk!

So I am a perfect match for posterazzi??? Better than having cats pressing their anus's on posters and photographing it and sharing in the forum and thinking nothing of it.

I do agree though, if you can't tell, I also wish the posterazzi ads would disappear

It is funny, the more we talk about him the better it is for him!  That's ok.  I don't begrudge someone trying to make a buck, even if he doesn't participate.  In face, be careful what you wish for, he might participate and then you might REALLY hate him!

If his for-sale posts got to be too much, I would simply combine the threads into one.  It's no worry.

Holiday

I said my piece, the guy is a low life spammer, he floods his crap on other people's forums, blogs and websites, he has no morals about it either - these people make money off the fact other people don't do anything about it. There should be a difference between entertaining 'strong personalities on this board' and condoning the illegal/immoral/anti-social.

Just my two cents, by way of example:

Illegal = fucking your sister
Immoral = fucking your sister
Anti-social = picking your nose while fucking your sister

Yeah that would be fine if this was a f*cking your sister forum, but this is a poster forum for collectors and dealers alike. Gary Silver (his real name I believe), of San Diego, by any stretch of the imagination is not a dealer he is a spammer. In the past 24 hours he has posted 11 of his crap spam ads in this forum alone and who the hell knows how many elsewhere, I could do a count but I can't be bothered.

Just my two cents, by way of example:

Me, I'm the guy that sees a tree branch in the road and will stop the car and move it so it doesn't affect me as well as other road users in the future, apparently you not only swerve to avoid it you look the other way.

Actually, I was in the grocery store last night and I saw a big jalapeno pepper on the floor that was just waiting to have someone step on it, slip, fall and then sue.  I did pick it up and toss it out of the way.

So, my little dickhead friend, you don't know everything after all.

But I love you.  Hugs and kisses.   bed1
