Im liking the large (custom designed and made?) theater poster, for FRANKENSTEIN (1931). I bet the color of the light rays being emitted from the lantern were vivid!

The design is very similar to that of the first release, Swedish OS:

Anybody have a pic from the 1931 Frankenstein pressbook showing all the US posters?

Could that be a three sheet with a "Now Playing" sticker stuck on it?

Look at the size of the poster(?) compared to the people. That would be a ginormous custom painting. But I don't see any folds, so maybe it is.

Me too, Chris. The height of that custom poster (likely locally produced) looks to be about 84" tall. The perspective is a little off, since it is more in the foreground than the crowd or theater usher, but I bet it is close to that height.

What is curious, too, is that the image of the lantern carrying grave robber is the same as the Swedish OS. Aside from that one poster, I have not come across any US paper image that features this design. So perhaps some as yet unseen US style (OS, insert maybe?) featured this, too.

The digging continues.

As a side note. Also worth noting is that both the "special" 3 sheet teaser and half sheet used an image of Karloff in an earlier makeup that was not used in the final film (but was featured on the US OS and other publicity materials as well).

I lived in Baldwin, a few miles away from this theater and used to get an occasional poster from them back in the late 60s and early 70s.
Can't recall whether I ever got into their back room or not....some managers would let me....some wouldn't...

Look to the left of the guy with the white hat. That looks like the (very desirable) art from the r47 Dracula 1-sheet, but the title is different. We're there other posters with that art?

And in looking at more details in that photo.. it looks like to the right of the FRANK standee's legs, is another poster/banner? for Frankenstein, with an image of Karloff, more in profile. I wonder what that is?

Yes, this was for the 1951 re-release.

I first thought the double-bill photos might have been for the 1947 release (they were definitely not for the 38 release), but in looking at them for a minute it became obvious they were from the 1951 release.
This photo-montage over the ticket booth uses an image from Son of Dracula, so definitely not from before 1943.

But the tag line "Greatest Horror Show of All Time" was used for the 1951 campaign, the 1938 and 1947 campaigns used "The Horror Show of the Century".
Also, the words used around the box-office all match the ad words from 51 - especially "Screamy!", I've never seen that used for anything else.
And of course the cut-outs are taken from the 1951 3-sheets (though the Dracula is very similar to the 1947 3-sheet).
