just a random question or thought i was thinking to myself. I am slowly leaving the 50-150.00 range of purchases. My list or lust, is now entering the psycho(i can live with release), gorge, reptilicus, Giant gila monster, Giant Behemoth wants. So as a collector conditioned to now only want originals, i want to ask you when do you stop at a price or say screw it get a repro. For some reason i like the fact of owning history, the other i do know it is a piece of paper and will rot. I also know some claim it is investments. SO.. I wanna hear everyones opinions on this, and there thought process.

See my comment, and its only a question you can answer.
And I doubt anyone will come along and claim its an investment.
If you want to invest in posters, buy one repro and staple your bank balance to the repro (or buy cheap bulk lot/s and become a dealer).

If you buy older pieces, check what dealers are selling them for and never spend more than half of that price.

and less than that. It is the one rock solid piece of relative newb to newb advice I can give.....Dealers are well dealers. Unless its life or death or something extremely unique....STEER CLEAR!!!!!!

no i see well, in people collections, y'all got like 2 grand Worth (dealer prices) in like one pic thread, so i value everyone of your experiences. grant it, not throwing mud in NO mean, y'all are probably older than me, so ya can offerd em, y'all got careers instead of jobs, lol i am painstakingly carrying the torch threw collage. Oh Ari, i pick up your not a fan of DK, but Friday, we did catch the early showing, nice steak lunch, rode up the mountains , then well....

very nice day..

all in all, still so happy to be here, while i am waiting for a normal price gems to appear, i could just save for em, and buy a few frames in the process

I wouldn't go so far as steering clear. There are a few dealers that I have bought from over the years. If it's being offered by a dealer for fair price, I see nothing wrong with buying from one. It makes the deal that much easier. With cheap ebay prices comes the horror stories of shitting shipping, fakes, and other crap. Thierry likes slogging through the shit, so he lives on ebay. Me, on the other hand, cannot deign to spend the time others do on ebay. I'd rather pay a bit more and buy with the certainty of knowing who's backing it up. That's worth a premium to me.

Just my two cents, of course.

from personal experience, I get nearly everything from "dealers". Build a relationship, you'll get better prices, personal service, 1st (or early) dibs on things that you collect. Get things put aside, talk shop, make friends, its all win.

HAHA guys, and yea i get what you are saying. ex specially on the zillas, i need king of Monsters and KK vs Godzilla, that is the extent on my $$$ Godzilla's, i should of picked up the KK vs G for 75 last year, was in bad condition but some linen would of fixed it.

I am gonna fly to Ari's place of home, and were gonna go beared dragon hunting...

PS.. from past posts and inferring, I presume Ari is from Australia, if i am wrong, I then will feel like a total idiot and hide in shame

Another thing to think about, instead of the small "I quite like it" items, don't buy them, it all adds up, save for the ones you "NEED".
