French ones, you mean?  I just have this other large Lawrence poster.  And a bunch of OS for Zhivago and a few others...  You can see a link to my site at the bottom.

It's funny, that "Country of Origin" thing is never something that has sparked my interest.  Most of the time, I find foreign material on a specific movie way more interesting that the original stuff, especially with US posters.  What I do not like are small posters, but I will buy from all around the world, regardless of where a movie is from, except for the few countries I mentioned (which have small posters, or cheap looking posters, like Yugo and Spain).
T

I'm not offended ;)

In fact. I would love to buy a Spanish poster but just can't find one that appeals to me.

I do not collect posters of films I dont like  or with actors/actresses  I don't like.

Format, country etc is not a prob

I love that so many of you put 1/2 sheets and inserts on your lists.  Helps keep the prices down for me and allows me to get some quality paper :)

My only restriction is that  I will not collect anything that is produced to be 'collectable'.  Alamos, mondos, etc.  They may be nice, but the prices are driven by a false economy and their value is pretty much guaranteed to crash once the frenzy dies down.  Call it the Beanie Baby theory if you like.  Or Cabbage patch, Hallmark ornaments, Hollie Hobbie, collector plates, etc, etc.

Actually Jay, you are right!...best if people dont like inserts  ;) I am dying for ''one'' insert right now, craving badly, ''that insert'' has to be mine... I can't care less for the US OS, Italian version, or the 3 Shooos. Of them all, the insert for that film does it for me. Big time :-*

I need to get most of it out of storage and photograph it. I have put bits and pieces up up here but maybe I need to start a "Louie's collection" thread.
And you can always go to www.elbrendel.com, about 98% of the photos you see there are from my collection.

I won't collect anything that doesn't strike my fancy, and my fancy ain't very fancy.  Paulie Shore springs to mind.  ;D

Yep. Anything goes as long as I like it.

I have at least one or two of each one of these. Though I didnt pay for the Chirasis it came gratis with B2s.

Seeing Bruce's latest auctions made me realize how little interest I have in some formats, or posters from specific countries.  Not that there is anything wrong with them, I just never got around to collecting them.

For instance, I do not collect:

US 1/2 sheets
US inserts
US window cards
Italian Locandinas
Australian Daybills
French small posters
Japanese Chirashis
Spanish posters
Belgian posters
Yugoslavian posters

I tend to stay away from larger sizes from all countries - unless it's a particular favourite movie. Take Halloween. I have paper from Australia, USA, England, France, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Belgium and Yugoslavia.

But generally if it's bigger than A1 size, I can't easily display it so I leave it be.

So I'm basically opposite to many of you! I prefer locandinas, 1/2 sheets, Japanese B2s and daybills.

Don't take me wrong, I own all the styles mentioned, I just don't collect them, meaning I don't go out of my way to get them.  And Chirashis... yeah, same here, I probably have at least 1,000 of them, a big stack that I got for free from collecting Japanese posters.  I keep adding to it.

To me the Spanish poster for Godzilla is one of the three best posters on the film.
So happy when I was able to add this to my collection.
The fact that it is printed in my wife's native language is a bonus.  :)

Great topic.. as it shows what we all like or dont or what appeals to each of us.
I dont go for:

Australian daybills ( i was given a few however--from the early 1940s and 50's)
Mexician film posters
Anything printed after the mid-latter 1950's
Japanese/ other Asian posters (either COO or foreign films)
Heralds
Lobby cards
Programs
Stills

If you don't want your 40s and 50s daybills I can thin k of a good home for them here in Australia.

I don't collect non-English posters, and tend to avoid three-sheets and linen-backed posters, though I do have quite a few of each.

Tastes evolve, tho, dont they, Rick?

I have since acquired a few Japanese B2 goodies.  ;D

hehe...no, no...I'm not that anti-gun. :)
In the old days they used to print posters specifically for the military bases around the country. They were most always black and white or duo tone.Very fugly!! I think I've only seen one that was even remotely collectible,IMO.

I know.. just joshin' with you, Anthony.  ;)

The R60s, military style, Creature From the Black Lagoon, tho, I always thought looked good. The artwork and design were both pretty darn nice.

I don't collect anything glossy except the new hammer titles but there has only been a few thankfully and that's just because i am a completist and I might remove them as it's not really hammer or I tell
Myself that. I don't collect valuable posters really. I have two that are over $500 I guess, but most under $100 and most under $50
I guess.

I don't collect comedy or porn or musical posters.

I don't collect pretty woman posters (see valuable above)

I tend to stay away from any over sized material, they overwhelm me. otherwise my collection is heavily title driven not artwork.

That's been my strategy since the early days of eBay... it got to the point where I would follow him just to know what he already owned, so that I would know if I should bother putting in a bid or not.  Same with Brie, Dale, Dave L. (who made sure that I would never see a Caddyshack poster, since he could flip them to his Scottsdale pals for far more than I was willing to go) and a couple of others...

Try to get a B1 Holiday wants.  Or a Eastern European poster Matt wants.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I think we all have our niches and will spend a lot (sometimes way above what it's worth) to get what glorifies our collecting needs.
