Carla Laemmle, back on Stage 28 (Phantom stage) at Universal, where she first appeared as the prima ballerina in the 1925 version of The Phantom of the Opera.   clap clap

A little factoid: At 104 years of age (born Oct 20, 1909), she is the only surviving member of the casts of Phantom of the Opera (1925) and Dracula (1931).

Well, that certainly is a Phantom 6sh image. I wonder where that pic was taken? Perhaps at an LA screening of POTO?

It could be real. Do they even make reproduction copies of 6sh that are full, 1:1 scale? Some of the repro images I have seen are much smaller versions, sometimes done on 27x40 size sheets of paper, with large top and bottom border areas.

Carla Laemmle attends The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences' Screening Of "The Phantom Of The Opera" at AMPAS Samuel Goldwyn Theater on October 30, 2012 in Beverly Hills, California.

This perspective shows it is clearly a six sheet:

Since that screening was here at the Academy.. I'd be willing to wager that that is a legit POTO 6 sheet, put up for the occasion.

Very cool!!

That's $90,000 inflation-adjusted but I bet it would go for a lot more than that.

Wow, Bruce. Amazing. Even tho this auction was back in '95, was the previous owner a big time collector? Do you recall why the owner put it up for auction?  And was the Academy the high bidder/winner at that auction?

I recall seeing ads in the paper and online for this screening at the Academy back in 2012. Ugh! Even tho I've see the film so many times, and even had the wonderful opportunity to meet Carla Laemmle at another screening of Phantom, I would have gone to this, JUST to gaze upon this 6sh!  bed1

Would need to be at least 3,000 years to be authentic but of course I guess that would just cause more shrinkage ;)

Mummification has gone on, 'round the world, and more recently than 3000 years ago... yet they are the real deal. Maybe those mummified sooner will have an advantage ;D

Haven't seen a post from Jeff in a while... theories?

1-Put his electronic gadgets away during a much-deserved vacation (my favorite)

2-Locked in a shipping crate somewhere in Mexico due to a poster deal gone bad (a la Jack Bauer)

Howdy dude.
I've been trying to pick up the slack in your absence but -- more importantly -- whenever you disappear for any extended period of time that pesky hitchhiker serial killer rears his ugly head again.
Be careful out there.

More a candid than behind the scenes.. a 1960s shot with Forry Ackerman (holding issues of "Monster World") and his hunchbacked cohort.

And--

Right behind them, striking her best Mark of the Vampire pose, is Carol Borland!

And a shot from The Howling (1981). This was a great transformation scene.. all done with animatronics. The entire film was CG-free!

And "in the flesh," so to speak:

Max Schreck (Count Orlock) from Nosferatu (1922), taking a breather on a bench built around a tree.
