OMG, if I could afford it, I would be all over M!!!!

Thanks Tob for sharing.

T

T, I remember walking into the exhibitor room at a DragonCon in Atlanta 15-20 years ago and there it was: the giant M hand poster on linen.  I was very surprised to see it.  It was huge and stunning. Wish I would have bought it back then, but all our kids needed new shoes...! Okie

Sad news that Roger Kastel has passed away at the age of 92
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/roger-kastel-dead-jaws-poster-1235648299/

This video has him discussing Jaws at around 1:25

I stumbled on this thread regarding Jaws with some nice photos in it:

Cool video with nice editing.

I quickly checked out the auction catalog.  Some cool lenticulars - The Avengers in the video looks great.  I wonder how much the Harry Potter one will sell for.

The signature stuffs, though...  :-X

Nice to see that Marty and I have the same taste in posters.  I also own the two Cocteau's "La Belle et la Bête" seen on the video, the single and double panels.

And I also own a lot of his posters haha

Thanks for posting.

It was nice of him to give APF that personal greeting and best wishes when the site first started. Obviously a man of great taste!

Thanks for sharing this, very nice!
A lot of French large posters, I know someone here dislike them  :-*
Crucifixion? Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each.

Has anyone taken a look at Heritage's July signature auction? Um....this looks to be one of the best auctions of all time. Like early 90's Christies level amazing!

I have been following almost daily as they add more and more incredible stuff. I’ve heard that most of it is from one person who consigned most of their collection.

You must have heard right: there are some incredibly rare lots, such as Bride of Frankenstein 1/2 sheet, Metropolis insert, The Outlaw 6-sheet, Stagecoach, Horror of Dracula UK quad, Walking Dead insert, etc... that are all described as the "property of a distinguished collection".

Looks like a Freaks one sheet was added to the auction. Kind of ugly in my opinion, but I’m sure the top horror collectors will duke it out come auction day!

This one sheet sure looks like a window card to me.

I think it's pretty easy to figure out which UK distinguished collection this is all from.

It’s the Andrew Cohen collection. Incredible stuff!

The Freaks One Sheet looks to be a new find from the US. Cool that stuff is still being found like that!

Thanks Crow for the info.  Like Starling, I wasn't familiar with Andrew Cohen's collection but it appears to be very impressive.

It does sound like the Freaks OS was a recent find, which is pretty mind-blowing indeed.

Here is an article from when the metropolis poster sold with that lot 12 or so years ago in LA. It’s just a small excerpt that mentions Cohen.

“Some of the movie-poster world’s top players were present to chase the cinematic treasure. They included an agent for Heritage Auctions of Dallas, Bruce Marchant of London-based Reel Poster Gallery, who represented UK collector Andrew Cohen; and a rep from the California auction house Profiles in History, who was there to bid on behalf of Steve Fishler, owner of Metropolis Comics, New York City”

I have a friend who knows him a bit. Seems super private otherwise! No mentions of him really anywhere. I’m pretty sure the massive lobby card auction at HA a few years ago was his too. The “Wood Hall” collection.

Thanks Riley!

Luckily his poster collection seems to have escaped the significant fading that his lobby card collection suffered. Small miracles :)

I actually bought one of the cards in that auction, and admittedly overspent on it for sure. lol. That being said, it looks much better in person than it did in the HA photo!
