We will contact the bidder, tell him/her they are Swiss cards, and offer to cancel. They will almost surely agree to, and after, we will delete the result, and re-auction them next time, properly identified.

Had you (or anyone) contacted us while the auctions were running, we could have corrected them then. But better now than never (as is true of many auction sites).
We (eMoviePoster.com) hold 2,500 to 4,000 auctions every four weeks.
We have auctioned more movie paper for more money (in real sales) than any auction in the world.
We have the longest continuously running auctions of any auction, with over 1,914,280 to date from over 3,192 consignors.

Go to http://www.emovieposter.com/online/previews/2016may/partii/ for a preview gallery of ALL of the incredible collection of 328 linenbacked posters, movie and non-movie, U.S. and non-U.S., standard sized and oversized (which runs from April 26th to May 3rd), including the lot numbers, so you can see the exact order in which they will be auctioned!

Note that not only do we provide you with the exact condition grade that will be on the auction, but you can also click on any image and see the "super-sized" version, so that you can really know the exact condition of each item long in advance of the auction, so you can better prepare your bidding strategy.

And don't forget to also look at the 307 linenbacked one-sheets in our preview gallery of those (in Part I) at http://www.emovieposter.com/online/previews/2016may/parti/

That is a great question for the members here.

Did you ever buy an item (or items) from any auction that was NOT honestly described, and how did they respond when you told them about it?

A Great question, I agree. For all members, buyers and sellers alike, since an accurate description is vital to anything bought or sold.

If you can, please let us know how the buyer of these Swiss Fists of Fury cards (that were described as Hong Kong COO cards) responds, once he/she is informed of what they actually are.  :)

Im a bit confused (tho that's nothing new  ;) )

Last night, I did a quick 2 min search on the EMP database and found that partial set of those Fists of Fury LC, that had been sold back in 2012, and were correctly described and ID'd as Swiss.

I just did another quick search and found another set of 15 Swiss, Fists of Fury LC that were sold in Jan of 2014. But these were also advertised and described as being a Hong Kong COO set. What's the reason for this incorrect description, 2 years later, especially when the ones in 2012 were described properly (and the data and images from that first sale would be available as a reference tool for the EMP research staff).

And to tie in with your question above, how will this other buyer also respond, over 2 years later, when informed and learning that these cards were not what he thought they were, when he was bidding on, and won them?

We contacted the buyer of the set of 14, and he still wanted the set even though they are Swiss.

So we added the following to that record:
"Note that we initially believed that these were Hong Kong lobby cards. However, after the auction closed, we learned that they are Swiss lobby cards, and we have updated the auction. We also contacted the winning bidder about the change, and they have elected to keep the cards."

I will check ALL the other listings tomorrow and contact the buyers of the incorrect ones (however many that may be) and offer then full refunds plus return shipping, just as I do with ALL incorrectly described items. If they send them back, we will cancel the result and re-auction the items properly identified.

Thanks for the kind words!

Do remember that on corrections, we need more than "I believe" or "I think". We just had a guy email us corrections on three posters we had auctioned many times, and we changed EVERY result, and emailed all the buyers, offering refunds, and then one of those buyers gave us pretty definitive proof that the "correction" was incorrect, so we had to re-email everyone and undo all the "corrections".

But I don't mind the massive amount of extra work as long as our database keeps getting more and more accurate!

It is amazing how little is known about the many re-releases of movies all over the world. In our database we are pooling the research of hundreds of dedicated researchers (like yourself) and I know it is far and away the most accurate database anywhere on the Internet.

Let us know what you find out about the above poster.

Remember that movie where 7 gunmen go to a small Mexican village and chase off around 50 bandits?

Well, as admirable as that was, I can tell you that it is a WORLD harder to run 3,000 auctions of unique items every week, and to hold well over one MILLION such auctions (over 1,155,000, at latest count) is, well, simply MAGNIFICENT!

I deeply thank every one of the 33 employees of eMoviePoster.com who make this happen week in and week out, and I know that our 40,000+ customers and our 1,800+ consignors do as well!

Part II of our May Major Auction ends on Tuesday at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/13.html

Like Part II, this part solely contains professionally linenbacked posters, but Part I solely contained one-sheets, and THIS Part II contains posters of EVERY kind (movie and non-movie, U.S. and non-U.S., standard sized and oversized).

It contains a LOT of extremely rare and desirable posters (you have to see them to know how many great ones there are), but because they all started at $1 with no reserve and no buyers premiums, there can and will be lots of great buys made!

How great? In Part I, all the one-sheets were linenbacked, usually at a cost of $100 to $150 per poster. Yet 84 of them sold for under $100 (many far lower) and just about every one of those sold for well under the cost of linenbacking alone, so it was like those buyers got the one-sheet for free!

The same situation exists in Tuesday's Part II, but even more so! With a day to go, there are 61 linenbacked posters under $10 each (insane!) and 143 under $30 each.

Now of course a lot of these will get more bids, but some won't and there are sure to be as many great deals in Part II as there were in Part I, but you can't get those "steals" if you aren't bidding, so why not go to the above link right now, and check these all out?

Part II of our May Major Auction ends in just a few hours, beginning at 7 PM CST at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/13.html. This part contains 328 linenbacked posters of EVERY type (movie and non-movie, U.S. and non-U.S., standard sized and oversized, EXCEPT for one-sheets, because those were in Part I)!

Even though this is a "major auction", many of these posters are incredibly "affordable", especially because all are linenbacked and ready to be framed and displayed and we have the most great deals in any part of any major auction we have ever had with hours to go!

Think I am exaggerating? Not at all! Currently there are 33 of these that are just $10 each or under(!), 72 that are just $20 each or under, and 164 that are $50 each and under and the owner of those posters usually paid around $50 to $100 each just for the linenbacking alone! So most of those posters currently are well under the cost of linenbacking alone and you essentially get those posters for free!

And on the 164 of the posters that are over just $50 each, most of those are WELL under where the same or similar posters have auctioned for in the past (when linenbacked), so there are currently great buys at every price level.

But please remember that in our auctions, a LOT of the bidders like to wait near the end of the auctions to place their bids! So don't get a false sense of security just because you have had the high bid for almost all of the seven days an item has been on for, BECAUSE ON BETTER ITEMS, IT IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR THEM TO DOUBLE OR TRIPLE IN PRICE IN THE CLOSING HOURS.

But also remember that our auctions have "time extended bidding", which means that five minutes must go by without a bid before an auction closes, so you can NEVER have an item snatched away from you in the final seconds (but you have to be watching the item as it closes, to make certain that no one entered a higher bid than yours in the closing minutes).

Best of luck to everyone bidding in this special auction, and remember that this is just Part II closing in HOURS, and that Part III close Thursday!

We (eMoviePoster.com) hold 2,500 to 4,000 auctions every four weeks.

Part III of our May Major Auction ends Thursday, beginning at 7 PM CST at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/14.html. This part contains 208 great movie paper items of all sorts, a "best of the best" of our "regular" auctions (except it has NO linenbacked posters, because those were in Parts I & II)!

There are really great one-sheets, half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and other sizes, and also lots of great non-U.S. posters from many countries, and I REALLY think you need to look everything over at the above link, especially because there are "only" 208 items.

But I also want to call your attention to five REALLY unusual items that are included, because you might not see them again for many, many years, and I don't want any interested bidders to not be aware of them!

Look at this BRINGING UP BABY signed framed 8x10 still at http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=4225044. This is an incredible item! The movie features a trained leopard (the "Baby" of the title), and that leopard was played by Nissa, and was trained and owned by Olga Celeste. At some point during the filming of the movie, someone took a picture of the leopard lying on the set, next to a gag poster that read "GREATEST SHOW ON THE LOT See NISSA THE LEOPARD - ADMISSION 25 cents, also HEPBURN & GRANT Admission 10 cents Including tax, and autographs"!

Olga Celeste wanted a great memento of the movie, and she had the director Howard Hawks, plus most of the cast and crew sign this photo (naturally, the top people signed in large bold letters in the top left, and everyone else wrote their name where they could in the bottom half of the photo). Miss Celeste herself wrote "Greetings, Olga" in the lower right of the photo. The photo was nicely matted and framed (likely in 1938), and it was found in Miss Celeste's estate, and it was auctioned at Christie's in 1989 in their "Collectibles Auction Sale #6841", and it was lot #349.

Look at this 12 Affiches Du Cinema 1979 French art portfolio at http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=4225046. It features movie art by Raymond Gid, a legendary illustrator of great French movie posters over many years. This book was a dream of famed French movie poster illustrator Raymond Gid, and he was able to realize it in 1979. The portfolio consists of loose end papers, with two double pages that contained a title page, a page with his signature, and a 2-page spread listing the names of the prints of the posters contained in the portfolio. There is a single folded 2" x 20" "bookmark" that has the number of the specific edition of the portfolio printed at the ends of the bookmark!

There are twelve folded posters contained within the portfolio, each of them measuring 23 1/2" x 31 1/2" (which is 60 x 80 cm). The posters are posters that Monsieur Gid designed during his extraordinary career (some are ones that were used, and others are ones that were not used, and there is a wonderful special tribute poster for Charlie Chaplin)! The films include Vampyr, Les Diaboliques, Le Silence de la mer, Histoires Extraordinaires (The Living Dead), La Fille aux yeux d'or, The Birds, French Can-Can, Un coeur gros comme ca, and Therese Raquin.

Only 40 of these portfolios were created! One could only wish that someone had ever created a similar portfolio of U.S. posters, either by a single artist like this one, or by multiple artists! Note that each of the posters has a printed paper snipe glued to the back, giving the name of the movie and cast and crew credits for that movie. We have seen another example of this portfolio offered for sale for $1,800!

Look at this 1950s local theater 15x26 metal display sign at http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=4225095. It is from the Ellinwood Theatre in Ellinwood, Kansas. This display contains drugstore counter displays for "Tropic Zone", "The Left Hand of God", "Sudden Fear", and "Rancho Notorious". In addition, the consignor of this metal display sign (who obtained it directly from that theater in the 1950s!) also received five printed unused movie tickets from the theater, and those are included as well (we have photographed those tickets at the bottom of the display sign).

Note that most movie theaters in the 1950s had signs similar to these, but very, very few of them have survived (we have only seen a few). Not only is this one in the best condition of any we have seen, but it even has its original "drugstore counter displays" in place! Note that the display has its original metal easel backing, allowing it to be free standing on a counter

Look at this 1932 BELA LUGOSI/BORIS KARLOFF 8x10 still at http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=4225051. This is from a press conference that Universal held in 1932, where these two legendary horror film stars were photographed together, perhaps for the very first time! The back of the still has printed information about the front and it calls them "Universal exponents of horrors" and calls them "Bela (Dracula) Lugosi" and "Boris (Frankenstein) Karloff", and says that they "are good friends and friendly rivals", and that Lugosi "will play in Robert Louis Stevenson's The Suicide Club and Karloff in The Old Dark House by J.B. Priestley and The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells".

Of course, the Universal version of "The Suicide Club" was never made, and while Karloff did star in "The Old Dark House", it was newcomer Claude Rains who ended up starring in "The Invisible Man", which did not come to the screen for three more years. Note that our consignor is a major still collector of many many years, and this still was the prize of his collection, and he paid $1,000 to acquire it, and we are sure it would be a great prize for the new owner of this wonderful still!

Look at this JAWS 2 8ft x 12ft unassembled standee at http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=4225001. This wonderful "standee" was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap (it was only the paper poster portion, because it would have cost an insane price to ship this fully assembled to theaters).

What the theaters got were the four sections of the poster, with an instruction sheet, which told them to mount the four sections to a 3/8" backing. They then needed to cut out the bottom center area, and then assemble the sections as shown in the diagram, and add "reinforcement joints" and then "attach to easel partitions"! When finished, this would provide the theater with an amazing standee that could be placed at their entrance so that customers would literally enter the mouth of the shark to get in the theater!

We don't know how many theaters ordered this standee, or how many actually assembled it, but this is an incredibly rare unassembled standee, and it is the only one we have ever seen or heard of! The new owner can either leave it as it is, mount it on linen as it is, or actually turn it into the standee it was meant to be by following the instruction sheet! In each case, that new owner will have an amazing poster, which will surely be a cornerstone of any "Jaws" collection!

The above five items are just a handful of the incredible rarities contained in this very special auction, so PLEASE take a few minutes to look over all 208 items in this auction at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/14.html. If you wait too long (they close Thursday) then you will miss out!

There are currently some real bargains (53 items are under $50) and there are great deals at the current prices at every price level. But please remember that in our major auctions, a LOT of the bidders like to wait near the very end of the auctions to place their bids! Our current 999 campaign books, exhibitor magazines, pressbooks and books (hardcover, softcover, and trade paperback) are closing Sunday (two days from now) at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/15.html!

Our three-part May Major Auction just wrapped up on Thursday, but in some ways this auction closing Sunday is like "May Major Auction Part III 1/2"! What do I mean? The first 62 items closing Sunday are solely campaign books and exhibitor magazines and many of them absolutely ARE "major auction quality" (meaning that they are extremely rare and desirable)! So why were they not in the May Major Auction?

We put them in this separate Sunday auction because they are with lots of pressbooks (which are very similar in some respects) and also with lots of hardcover, softcover, and paperback books (including many great titles) and all these types "combine" in the same packages with campaign books and exhibitor magazines far better than posters do.

So you absolutely need to check this set of auctions out closely, because there are a LOT of great items in it, and if you don't look over them all, you are liable of missing something you have looked for for a long time (and might not find again anytime soon)!

And if you just like making incredible deals (whether to add to your collection, or as a dealer to re-sell), then THIS really is the set of auctions for you. Maybe it is because all our bidders are wiped out by our May Major Auction, but with less than two days to go, fully HALF of these items are at just $1 or $2 (and 71 have no bid), and TWO THIRDS are just $1 to $5. And the one third that is over just $5 is mostly WAY under where the same or similar items have sold for in the past.

HERE IS A CHART OF THE ITEMS IN THIS AUCTION:
(to better help you find the sizes and types that interest you)

6x001 PARAMOUNT 1927-28 French campaign book
6x002-6x004 Canadian campaign book of English WWII films, Japanese campaign books
6x005-6x046 U.S. campaign books
6x047-6x051 studio brochures
6x052-6x062 exhibitor magazines
6x063-6x097 paperback books
6x098-6x197 hardcover books
6x198-6x362 softcover books
6x363-6x386 English pressbooks
6x387-6x999 pressbooks

Our excellent current sets of auctions closing this Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday are all excellent, and in different ways (and I feel that you will surely agree, once you look over what is in them)!

First, our Sunday auctions (which close in less than a day at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/15.html) are in some ways like "May Major Auction Part III 1/2"!

Maybe it is because all our bidders are wiped out by our May Major Auction (or because Sunday is Mother's Day!), but with way less than a day to go as of this writing, fully ONE THIRD of these items are at just $1, $2 or $3, and JUST UNDER HALF are just $1 to $5. And the half that is over just $5 is mostly WAY under where the same or similar items have sold for in the past.

If you like folded one-sheets, you are sure to love our Tuesday auctions at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/13.html, which have a really first rate selection of 999 folded one-sheets, covering all years and genres, but with a really high concentration of excellent horror/sci-fi titles (Halloween in May?).  If you like one-sheets in the slightest, you will LOVE this set of auctions, and you may have a "problem" in finding too much to interest you!

Like lobbies? The Thursday auctions at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/14.html have 999 complete and incomplete lobby card sets (6,513 cards in all!). Over half of these sets are from the 1950s and earlier, and around one quarter are from cowboy movies, around one fifth from crime movies, plus much, much more! You may be able to get entire sets for little more than most dealers would ask for the best scene card!

And yet, except for the very best items in each set of auctions, the items in each are getting little love (and currently have very low bids). As stated above, maybe it is because people are wiped out after our May Major Auction, or maybe it is because of Mother's Day on Sunday, but each set of auctions currently has an incredible amount of bargains, with many of the items at $1 or with no bid, and most of the rest are very much under where these same items have auctioned for in the past.

Of course, there will likely be lots more bids placed, but there are almost sure to be lots of great deals (and maybe a lot of real "steals), and if so, I envy the many collectors and dealers who will be making sensational buys (including, hopefully, many of you, our club members)! The current bid prices in each set of auctions (once you get past the highest ones in each) are mostly so low as to border on sheer insanity!

And as soon as the last of our current Sunday auctions close (around 5 PM CST tomorrow on Sunday the 8th), we will be adding 500 lots of 2+ color and black and white stills (each from the same movie, some with a high number of stills), plus 499 presskits (almost all of which contain at least 8 stills), so be sure to check those out as well, once they start!
We (eMoviePoster.com) hold 2,500 to 4,000 auctions every four weeks.

Our Sunday auctions of campaign books, exhibitor magazines, pressbooks and hardcover, softcover, and paperback books close in just a few hours at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/15.html (beginning at 3 PM CST). Or view just the many excellent horror/sci-fi items here: http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/tag/genre%253Ahorror%255C%252Fsci-fi/15.html

You may THINK you don't collect these sizes and just "skip" this set of auctions, but if do so, you will likely regret it, because these auctions contain a LOT of wonderful rarities, and many of these items will not come back up for sale or auction for many years. Of special notice are the books, because they range from "movie editions" from the 1910s to 1930s, "bad girl" and film noir paperbacks of the 1940s, coffee table and limited edition books, and much more!

I could go on and on about these, but instead please go to the above link soon and check these all out before they close, because right now there are 444 of these at just $1 to $5 each, and almost EVERY item is a fraction of what dealers would charge on their websites (the ones you can find anywhere else)!

Darn it, I awoke just now and read the above but auctions nearly over. I thought you posted  with a bit more time ahead. Suggestion, maybe a sort filter on ending soonest so I can catch the last few still available

Let me see. If you scroll up in this very thread, you will see I also posted about this very same set of auctions on both Friday and Saturday in addition to this post on Sunday morning a full seven hours before the auctions started to end. I am not sure how much more than this you want.

As to your suggestion of "a sort filter on ending soonest", we have had that in place for around ten years, plus our Search Filters we added around a year ago.

Did you write the above post right after you woke up?  ;)

Yeah, I was half asleep. Time left ascending decending too complicated in that state of mind!

You might mock, but you did an ad showing different product, that this time made the auction worth a look, I saw and liked those but missed out, I'm sure I'm not the first. Maybe Sunday auctions finish earlier to your last posting. That's my problem I guess being in the wrong time zone!

I see. But we auction 999 items at a time, and I can't run images of all of them, without "breaking the forum". If you see that the types we are auctioning, which are always clearly spelled out in the promo message, are the sort to interest you, PLEASE go to the gallery and glance over the Search Filters at left, and then you can quickly see what there is of interest.

Sunday auctions DO close 4 hours earlier than the Tuesday and Thursday ones, as we have done since they began years ago, and we also mention that difference in every promo we do.

But we will endeavor to do better for you!

I am not really interested in pulps or press books... why would I trawl through 999 of them, especially as I have other interests in life to manage with my time

In the last advert it showed something that did grab my interest and I saw that too late (being in the asleep time zone) as the usual time gap is longer for the week day auctions.

Forget my suggestion increasing the gap for the sunday auction notification then and continue to belittle me for making it!

Our auctions of 999 complete and incomplete lobby card sets (6,513 cards in all with a lot of rare 1930s titles!) closing in HOURS at http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/14.html represents the best lobby card buying opportunity to come along in years (right now, there are over 300 of these sets at $1 or with no bid and over ONE HALF at just $4 or under)!

Since all of these have at least 2 cards, and lots of them are complete sets of 8 or more, this means many are well under just a DOLLAR per card and many are just PENNIES per card. And on all the sets (not just the lowest priced ones), almost ALL of them are FAR under where the same or similar sets have sold for in the past (and in some cases, you will likely be able to buy a complete or incomplete set for little more than what most dealers would charge for the title card or the best scene)!

Remember that on OUR auctions there are NO buyers premiums, so $1 is REALLY $1, and you pay just $12 U.S. shipping no matter how many of these you get. ALSO, if you are a fan of older lobby cards, know that well over half of these are from the 1950s and earlier (over 20% from the 1940s and earlier!), and many of these older cards offer the absolute best values, even though many of these titles are extremely rare!

Are you only interested (or mostly interested) in a specific genre, star, studio, or decade? Don't forget to use our "Search Filters" which are located to the left of our auction galleries. For example, in the case of these lobby card auctions, they include 242 cowboy lobby card sets, and you can see just those by clicking on the Search Filter that says "cowboy western", which will take you to this link: http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/tag/genre%253Acowboy%2520western/14.html and then you will just see those 242 lobby card sets, in our gallery format!

You can do the same thing for the 117 horror/sci-fi card sets, or for the 191 crime sets, or for the 41 lobby card sets that are solely from the 1930s, or for the 20 sets from James Stewart movies, or for the 12 sets from Veronica Lake movies, and on and on! Using these Search Filters well makes your time spent in our galleries FAR more productive, and once you get used to them, you won't know how you ever lived without them (and there is no other auction site that has similar Search Filters that work like ours do!).

But there is no way you can look through 999 lobby card sets in just a short while, so why not start looking these over soon, and then make sure you give yourself plenty of time to place your bids, so YOU can be getting some the great deals that surely will be made when these close in a few hours?

With respect, the auctions last for a full seven (7) days.  It is not as though you are in the wrong time zone for all hours of all those seven days.

You know the auctions start and end on the same three days every single week, of every single year - set yourself reminders if needs be...!

Simes, the idea of Bruce's posts are to show items to hook you in to look, especially those who haven't been tempted so far. Not sure why I need to say the following  again, maybe you missed that... I'm not interested in looking thru 999 Sunday auctions that have stuff I rarely want like non posters which usually are on Sundays. If an ad goes out showing an image to tempt you but you've just gone to sleep before the ad gets posted and awake to see the ad, but the auction is over, Bruce misses out, the sellers miss out, the buyer miss out. That is the problem... Sunday auctions finish 4 hours earlier thus 4 hours less time to see the auction. If the gap between ad and auction was the same on Sundays as it is for other days then there is enough time to be hooked in and participate. A reasonable suggestion to put forward I would think.

Sir, I am not sure I am arguing but there does seem to be the obvious you are missing.

Like the thrice weekly auctions that you are already abundantly aware of, you are also aware (it seems) that the Sunday auction finishes earlier.

Aside from some unlikely hand holding, it would seem to be the responsibility of the bidder to get plugged in to what he may, or may not be interested in - especially when the platform in question runs in such a reliably metronomic and clockwork fashion.

1. One doesn't have to 'look' through 999 pieces when a search can be effected.
2. Who is to say that Bruce's advert would necessarily include that which you may be interested in?

Apologies if I am missing something...
