That, and the equally scarce Skyfall Bollinger poster, completed my run of Bond Bollingers.

Bollinger posters represented by the films View / Kill through to present day...

Who turns down JB?

Even as Wolverine has kept him on the A-list, the actor hasn’t felt the need to add another film franchise to his stable. At one point, when the James Bond producers were casting a net to find a replacement for Pierce Brosnan, Jackman rejected their overtures.

“I was about to do ‘X-Men 2’ and a call came from my agent asking if I’d be interested in Bond,” recalls Jackman as he dives into a plate of salmon. “I just felt at the time that the scripts had become so unbelievable and crazy, and I felt like they needed to become grittier and real. And the response was: ‘Oh, you don’t get a say. You just have to sign on.’ I was also worried that between Bond and ‘X-Men,’ I’d never have time to do different things.”

Instead of trying to land a 007-style crowd-pleaser, Jackman has focused on proving he can act without the aid of adamantium claws.

There are some interesting display items for Skyfall and Spectre, Si.
Really happy you've completed the posters.
Best wishes,
Adam

Something for both here and the January thread.

Revel in the art.  Behold the glory.

Infinitely stupid ideas being tossed around on the Internet and TV blabber shows that the next James Bond should be a minority/woman played by an American.

The solution is infinitely simple: Start a James Bond expanded film universe and have Modesty Blaise Agent 004 have her own movie with the next white British male James Bond 007 playing a supporting role. And JB007 would continue to star in his own movies.

What thinkest thou?

More than happy with Bond being played by a minority woman, so long as we can in the same breath consider Hugh Grant as Nelson Mandela and Meryl Streep as Barack Obama...

I don't the lead is the issue, it's more the format. Copying the Jason Bourne films for the Craig era worked well, but it's feeling a bit stale again (maybe because Spectre was a dud, I did quite like Skyfall).

It'd be quite interesting if they killed off Craig in the middle of the next film and had a new 00 (female?) agent take over the mantle, but seeing as it still seems to be a commercial success, I doubt they'd be so bold.

Well, the sex and colour of the lead IS the issue being brought up by Mel.

If a character, fictional or otherwise, is being described as a black female, then a black female is required.  Pertinent to this thread, if people want to explore a black female spy character, then do it on your own dime.  Don't piggy back the James Bond name, create your own character.  Doing otherwise is both cheap and lacking in courage.

Yes, that's the issue raised by Mel, but I think the problem is more that the format is a bit limited. When you there are >25 films telling very similar stories, it's tricky to keep it interesting. Having a female lead would enable the writers to play around with the format a bit more.

I think Mel's idea is pretty decent. Introduce Jane Doe as a new 00 agent, let her take the lead for a few films in the Bond expanded universe, James Bond to cameo and return down the line.

'They say' they very briefly flirted with this idea just after Die Another Day back in 2002.  Jinx was purported to have had her own spin off script created by the Bond scribes, Purvis and Wade.

It didn't go anywhere, evidently.

I've only seen a couple of Marvel films, but Iron Man was an excellent/appropriate supporting role in Spiderman:Homecoming.

A pure stand-alone female spy movie would only get a fraction of the attention a JB Franchise film would. And as somebody suggested, Gal Gadot (with posh Brit accent) would be great choice.

I now remember that MoneyPenny is now played by a black actress, and they beefed up her role, no doubt to diversify the film. But that won't be enough. (Also Felix Leiter has been played by black actors).

Continuing the idea that, like Odeon printing their own Marler Haley posters of yore, cinemas still to this day in a climate of fewer posters being printed, print their own ideas.

More normally now competition based, the quad is printed on a lovely thicker almost vinyl quality paper.  The quad also being for the February Acquisitions thread...

Also, this would have been to my mind a $40 poster.  Wow.

At $335. as a final high, winning bid, seems someone really wanted to have this one. And how rare are these IMAX posters? Any idea, Simon?

We might need someone a little more objective than the current Bond actor’s wife!

Something I had not noticed until I saw an eBay auction stating that his, the seller's, Casino Royale quad was both rare and withdrawn.  He had also listed a copy of the letter sent to the cinema manager asking him to destroy or send back the quad in question.

Apparently, the reason given was not the change in advertised date, as I had suspected, but that it was too dark a printing.  Another look to compare did in fact show the difference, but that also the setting had been off set a tad, a couple of lights to Craig's left had been removed and a general lightening applied.  The URL text and copyright info has been played with as well.

For your viewing pleasure.

Replaced Quad

Withdrawn Quad

And lest anyone choose to disbelieve the Recalled element, please find below a letter stating as much.

We might need someone a little more objective than the current Bond actor’s wife!

This might segue into a previous but similar topic about there being a black Bond.

In the same way that I proffered that was absolutely fine so long as we can reasonably entertain the idea of Shaft being played by Hugh Grant, Or Obama by Rupert Everett, so too can we consider Wonder Woman being played by Hugh Jackman!

I think the idea of women with their own stories and characters is absolutely right.
