APF member Daniel Levy (The Illustraction Gallery) sent me this link to a Pinterest gallery he is putting together on Japanese Bond posters.

OHMSS cable car wire climb

MR 007 vs Jaws cable car fight (he nearly died doing this stunt)

SPECTRE Teaser poster Coming Tuesday.

https://twitter.com/007/status/577575088330936320

...which would seem to suggest the existing design (of bullet hole, glass, octopus) will not be officialised in print.

In this era of digitised images contrasting against those who collect (printed) posters, is this heralding of the way in which movies will be concurrently marketed between digital and print.

Perhaps my use of the word 'officialised' is now incorrect?  Digital and Print both being official, but only one of them being truly own-able in the tangible sense.

And in other news, and in response to that often raised and much discussed wondering as to whether the For Your Eyes Only perforated lobby card sheets of eight 'lobbies' each are in fact Australian...  (For example, here)

I recently acquired an International Distribution Pressbook for the same film.  They are listed in there.

So, not Australian.  US International.

I hope people can now go about their day with a sense that order has been restored to the world.

Well, the poster is unveiled but it is another Empire Design special of 'man in centre' ordinary-ness.

Can't be bothered to stick it in here as it would be a travesty to all other 'designed' posters.

You would think with the money they turn over they could have at least one nicely "painted" poster...

I preferred the abstract effort of bullet hole and octopus motif.

But this is just Empire's design by numbers.  The Bond forums like it as it harkens back to Moore's Live and Let Die shot of him in black polo neck and carrying a Magnum revolver.

From the point of view of better serving Craig's appearance, he is far better represented than the rather too closely cropped, surly and insecure stance he had for the Skyfall posters.

Anyway...

He looks like the russian villain rather than an english hero

Why not just print a blank white poster?  Surely that would capture the Spectre flavour nicely

Sure, I'll give them that regarding his look...

Or possibly Archer :P

But it doesn't change the fact that, compared to LALD, this SPECTRE poster blows.

Yup :)   I only collect the different quad styles though, not every printing of every style (and no US posters).  But that does mean I'll need to pick this one up at some point...

Ugh indeed.

Looks like Daniel Craig for Chanel.

Terrible doesn't even begin to cover it.

In some cases, it almost makes me think we should be looking to redefine, or accept someone else's redefinition, of what the film poster is supposed to be all about now...

Is this it?  Is this As Good as it Gets?  (Could be a good film title.)
