Thanks Paul, appreciate the speediness of help and response.

It was as I feared.  I have a Dr No quad but it is not as I would like.  It is however, 30x40 too.  Another one has popped up via the SaleRooms site in the UK but it has been trimmed by just a 1/4 of an inch, height and width.  Otherwise, it would have been nice.

Oh well.  Moving on.

Seems apropos here, too.

I know that the "Bond-ophile" poster collectors have commented and mentioned that this volume, written by Thomas Nixdorf, is a must have.

Again, while perusing, I found another BIN with Free shipping, for a copy of his book, for $49.95

Quick update to the above.

Turns out that the Dr No quad on offer via Astons Auctioneers last week was not taken fully out of the crappy frame for measuring. This was as stipulated by the consignor.  Why, one might ask?  Because it looks better in the frame and is more likely to sell, they were told.  And much against the auctioneers' better interests, they complied.

As it happens, I had time to follow the auction online and the Dr No quad was the last item to be auctioned.  Immediately prior to the auctioning, a special announcement was made saying that after all, Astons had taken it out of the frame and had discovered that in fact, the poster was the full 30x40.  One edge had been folded back to fit in the frame.

I had specifically asked the auctioneers to remove entirely from the frame to check all edges for folding...  Luckily I was online as I then went on to win it.

So, why buy this one as well as the one from Vectis earlier this year.  I was disappointed with the quad from Vectis as the restoration and backing had had pretty much the entire poster repainted.  I had taken to a restorer for an opinion as to whether it could have been re-restored but he said, not really.  To this end, I reckon I will frame and display the restored version, since it does display well, but I now also have the pure unadulterated and unbacked copy.

A minor indulgence.

I will pop photos up in the relevant thread (What's on walls / James Bond etc.?) once framed and hung.

This "thing", along with a few other posters, sold for 200-ish GBP about a year ago if I recall correctly....

Chaps, take a number and stand in line.

This poster is up for auction at Roger Jones Auctions this Friday.  Also currently on Steve's website for £5k.

Hope everyone is still friends by Saturday.

Has anyone experience of this auction house and can anyone tell me the best way to go about bidding online? I'm slightly confused by the site. I understand the estimate price but what does the auction begin at on something estimated at £40-£60 and are there hidden reserves? Apologies for the no doubt naive questions.

Bid online via Saleroom.

Best ask direct of the Auctioneer, in this case Roger Jones, as to reserves and whatever this bit meant, "what does the auction begin at on something estimated at £40-£60.... ".

I just wondered if an item is estimated at £40-£60 does that mean that the auction begins at £40? I think £40 for said item is already too much.

Normally these things start at whatever price has been attained through early bidding prior to the commencing of the actual live auction.  There will be proxy bids placed that allow the auctioneer to start 'somewhere'.

Failing any such bids, it is up to the auctioneer to see what the room, virtual or otherwise, will allow.

I do note that RR Auctions begin their bids at some fairly solid amounts though, at least in my minimal experience.

Most Auction houses only go a certain percentage below bottom estimate, say 15%, 20%, just read the auction house bidding guide, it should be there. If not I usually ring them..

I've bid ay Rodger Jones before, not the most able of poster sellers.... :-\

Well, they picked up on the Thunderball issue.  Seem it was offered to them with the 'Restored by Studio C' bit, but without the rest of the story until they went back and had a chat.  Apparently the text is not up to snuff.

Any guesses as to how much this might go for?  The story will be made known to all bidding, of whom I will not be one.  Just can't imagine what the attraction of this poster might be.

A new one on me entirely.

This popped up on ebay recently, its origins being cinema related but I otherwise have never seen it before nor do I know where it might have been used - Premieres possibly notwithstanding.

Gloss, Single Sided, 30x40 UK Quad and all other markings are present and correct.  Has anyone else seen this?

I will pop links here from the Text Only thread...

Cue Matt's, 'Oh for fuck's sake.  Another crappy Skyfall quad to collect...'

Did you win it?  I saw it, but only bid 50 GBP on it.  Not surprisingly, I wasn't even close!

I've seen that version a couple of times on the Bay, but it was always around the £50 mark, so I never picked one up...
