it MIGHT be like australia, we made our own cards, sets, but usually used US cards with snipes.
But some aussie lobby cards are sets of 8, some more, some less, and you never really seem to know.
(not a good answer for a completist)

Trivia : some shots of Andress were so provocative that they were not printed on lobbys in Germany.

That was a lengthy and painful upload.  Photobucket ran the CPU right up, I was diverted to various sponsor sites, everything took for bloody ever.

Anyway, the poster is on thinner paper and some of the printing ink has mirrored when folded.  There is a GP snipe over what was just a printed G.

Noteworthy for neither the art nor the printing.

What year is that from Simon? Do you think it's a RR that came out shortly after the initial run?

Hey fella. Not sure what year. The Return Engagement bit would.suggest a RR.

Knowledge seems to be short, certainly for me anyway.

Cheers.

The discussed military 1 Sheet.

In regards to the military one sheets:
I've been doing a little digging tonight into my collection for you mate and I have examples of Dr. No and Thunderball. Both are listed as 1971 RR.
Best wishes,
Adam

Please be assured these answers will in no way sound or look impressive in light of the insanity of T's Bardot thread - or indeed any other like thread.

Suffice to say;

260 UK quads (inc double features) and US/UK/Int 1 sheets.
74 'Other' posters
62 US/UK lobby card sets
24 UK FOH sets
53 Press kits (Or, for example in the case of the early Bonds, collections of the key set stills - in total 737 stills)
28 UK synopsis
25 UK Campaign books
23 US Pressbooks
42 Premiere Brochures (One can see this number is made up of local premieres as well)

And then a selection of other things that have no place on a poster forum.

Ultimately, I am thankfully limited by the number of films, and the fact I decided Not to wander outside the UK/US borders.  Otherwise, where would I end?  The exceptions to this rule the three posters I have displayed.

And now everyone can go back to the eatbrie thread for their 'wow's and 'ah's.

Cheerio.

Well, 1000+ items, it doesn't sound so shabby to me. I was looking at Sean Connery's entry on IMDB where he is credited with 94 films (this does include early bit parts and later voice-overs) - maybe you could branch out into a completist collection of his entire career? Then there's a Roger Moore complete collection, a Pierce Brosnan......Come on, you've only just scratched the surface!

Sims what a collection - Do you display any at home or just keep away for safe keeping? There would be a lot of people that would love to see that displayed at one time - maybe a bond premiere? An amazing history of bond through the years

Yeah, I do love it.

Apologies, I also have up a Dr No US insert poster.  But as this is a fairly well known image, I didn't want to clutter up people's time and capacity for interest.

Awesome collection Simes.
Seems to me your posters alone would make an ideal art show.
I admire your commitment!

That's very kind.  But I fear that my ring-fencing to the usual countries might make for a fairly obvious exhibition.  All the images are fairly well known.

And, at the other end of the scale, looking at 10 different versions of the same SPECTRE poster, just because they have a different date at the bottom may strain the interests of the most forgiving of audience.

An exhibition on just Bond posters would need to be thoroughly broken up with the unusual, like the Hungarian Spy Loved Me poster.  Guaranteed to keep'em confused for hours.

I agree. The costs of exhibiting are also pretty big, if done correctly in a proper gallery and there's not many galleries willing to put on an exhibition of movie posters let alone just James Bond; at least not here in the UK anyway. Not sure about you guys, but I genuinely believe there is more interest OUTSIDE of the UK than there is IN the UK.

Simes mate, you're collection is bigger and better than you let on.
I bow down to you, Sir, in admiration.

Yes, that's true.
I think I've seen one before; but cannot remember where the hell from.
Best wishes,
Adam

Some time back, I posted an image of a From Russia with Love lobby card whose origins were curious.

http://illustrated007.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/mystery-card.html

(I can't for the life of me find the thread or the post, so herewith courtesy of someone else's blog)

There were thoughts of it being Irish or maybe South African.  The Irish connections being the UK art, that the girl iconography shows her dressed and censored as per Irish requirements of the time and the A certificate.  The Sth African connections being because, where else could it have come from?

Well, I chanced upon this recently.  A Sth African 1 Sheet.

http://uk.movieposter.com/poster/MPW-91915/From_Russia_with_Love.html

Similarities between artwork being;

1. the 007 logo at the base of the Connery art
2. the general yellow colour
3. the A certificate, surprisingly.

Differences being;

1. Connery's face seems to have been redrawn or illustrated.
2. the girl iconography is 'freer' on the poster than the lobby card!!

What are your thoughts?

Oh.

And, without wishing to outstay my welcome, has anyone ever seen this poster before.

1988 dated poster for a 1981 initial release.  Looks like some sort of a licensed collectible, but why in '88?

It's a Portal Publications undersized repro that was put out in 1988. Maybe it's that simple as far as why it was produced in that year?  dontknow.gif
