Thanks, Alex. I will try again today. I knew it was based in AU, but it was the fact that it never loaded on several tries that had me ask.

Good to know you still have it in service. It's a Great site.  clap clap

Hi Jeff, Yes it is still running.
It's hosted in Australia, so perhaps there is some internet traffic issue.

Alex

Same here.

The page still doesnt load for me either, and Firefox says "connecting to movieposterguide.com" but nothing happens, until it times out, saying the page is taking too long to respond.

Hi Guys,

Sorry I had two addresses.
The correct one to use is www.posterguide.org
Bookmarks will still work, but you will have to substitute the above for the old domain.

Great, Alex. Thanks!

The new address works like a charm!

I also amended your very first post in this thread, to reflect the new domain, so that anyone seeing this thread for the first time and reading from page one, will also be able to log onto your site immediately.

 cheers

Funny if images were taken from Poster Nirvana (USA) site as listed on the Thanks page. Sweet justice!

Great site.
Only gripe is that APF isn't on the 'links' page.
Hint....hint...

Just giving fellow APFer Arsim's poster-info site a little  bump.gif

www.posterguide.org

He's got a ton of great info here, including printers, artists (and some of their signatures), years they worked, poster images and more.

This site is insanely great but underpromoted. I'm gonna send an email to the MOPO group promoting it.

Good reminder Jeff.

Sent an email to Arsim since he hasn't update the site recently.

Tip/trick: To download XL images from the site:
- Register
- Login
- Find the item and:

Reminder du jour! www.posterguide.org:81 "outshines the sun"! Excuse my hyperbole but IMO it is the "gold medal winner" for educational movie poster (MP) websites but few collectors have "enjoyed" its radiance. It offers extraordinarily-detailed  information (country, genre, year, size, artist(!), known copies(!), distributor, image source, etc) and images for:

+ 52,504(!) US MPs, inc. NSS number (first/only site to list this)
+ 2,734 UK "film" posters
+ 5,813 French "affiches de cinéma" (i.e. MPS)
+ 5,698 Aussies
+ 49(!) other countries

*****

*****

Professional website designer and MP afficianado Alex (from Eastern Europe) spent countless hours solo developing the size but has been incommunicado since March 2017 unfortunately. Be mindful of some erroneous info/images but that's inevitable for such a "ginormous" website. Enjoy, explore, and promote it to your poster pals!

P.S. To access XL images you must log-in but since you cannot currently register email me (moviepostercollectors@gmail.com) to borrow my log-in info.

Mel is correct (for once?).
This site is the reference the hobby really needs and everyone should contribute to it.
While it might be true that LAMP contains more raw data, LAMP was apparently put on the web in 1996, hasn't changed it's look or coding since then, and pretty much makes any useful information on the site impossible to find.
Very impressive work to be the result of a single person, and unlike LAMP he isn't beholden to any "sponsors".

Just to correct something that was said above above about registration being disabled...

Registering to access Arsim's full site is still "alive and well," so anyone is still able to sign up if they would like to.

To be sure of this, I just went onto the site, put in my info, quickly created a account and logged on.

Just click here: http://www.posterguide.org:81/register.php

You'll be brought to this page to put in your info. Hit the "submit" button, and voila, you're in.  cool1

Hi Everyone. I'm still around.

Thanks for the encouraging comments.

Not updating the site as often these days, due to heavy work commitments.

A few corrections RE previous postings.
I'm actually from Australia.
I'm no web designer, but rather own a home automation / home theatre installation business.

The site is long overdue for a refresh, particularly the registration interface.
I'll see what I can do. In the mean time, I will continue to do minor updates to the content.

If you have any data corrections, feel free to post them.

Thanks,

Alex

Good to know all is well with you, Alex.

And his site deserves another "hit" since it is filled with so much useful info and imagery.  thumbsup.gif
