If you find any others, (for here or in any other threads with missing images, when things got shifted or otherwise), just let me know, Paul.

Short lived, it seems. Reinstating took some time to do, but I was happy to help get them plugged back in for you.

Where'd all the pix go (and what happened) this time, Paul?  dontknow.gif

If you want to do a "re-re-reinstate" again, just let me know.  ;)

Hey Jeff,

Just had nothing but problems with that bucket, it froze me out, kept hitting me with ads, stopped me adding or doing anything with the pics I had up. A load of them disappeared, others got mixed up... nightmare. I eventually wiped them all off to try and start again, and I'm still having loads of problems with about 10 pics on???

There must be something better than that place, I'm about done with it...

I recall you having that first issue that was discussed. What made me ask is that I noticed that pix you uploaded to the forum as recently as last July and Aug are now also gone.

Ive been using PB for years, and, again, knock on wood, aside from the site getting bogged down with ads (slow response time) or those silly videos that pop up time and again, I've had no photos disappear, get deleted (unless I deleted them) or odd account issues. Many others here on APF also use PB, too.

So maybe they have "targeted you out" for some reason, Paul. Perhaps the tot wasnt chilled quite enough one Friday night in months past? ;)

Seriously though, here's hoping you get the pic issue squared away so that we can get your images plugged back into the various threads once again.

All of this is why I use a smaller, but reliable isp to host my mail and ftp/web presence.   There is no question that my data is available and protected.  If it disappears, it will be quickly restored from backups.  I use Front Range Internet in Colorado (frii.com) even though I no longer live there.

I have heard too may stories and have even lost data from these mega file sharing sites, so I choose not to participate in them.

Ah, the 80s.  Nothing better than growing up in the 80s.

So I'm sick at home, the day after my kids hit 104 fever, and I have nothing better to do than to redo that collection of posters from page 1.  I have a thing about collecting only posters for movies you've seen.  Turns out that I have seen all of these movies (minus a few) at the theater growing up in Paris, some multiple times (I think I saw ET 10 times).  I used to go to the movies a lot.

So here is why the 80s is still the best decade for movies, imo.  With the good, the bad and the ugly, still a lot of fun.  I selected one poster per movie, mostly American, sometimes international, all from my collection.

It sure was.  Most of these I probably saw on VHS. I remember when videostores would only have one copy and when it was rented out it was out.  You had to wait for it to turn up, usually on the following Friday as they were one week-rentals (in hindsight a terrible business model).  And then that elusive tape was there and you'd go home with 3 or 4 tapes and some munchies and your weekend was set.  Nice posters T.

You know, what you just said is exactly why cinema mattered more yesterday than it does today.  Today, you just click a button and you get your movie.  Today, a week old movie is so yesterday, there is already something cooler at the multiplex.  Nobody cares about actors, directors, movies are spectacles.  Instant gratification is the word I'm looking for.  Not that it's necessary bad, it's just a different way to approach it.  There is so much entertainment in the palm of your hand, movies have become obsolete.  Yesterday, you had to stand in line for hours, a movie would not come out on video for another year so you ended up seeing it multiple times at the theater.  Yesterday, like you said, you had to make multiple trips to the local Blockbuster in hope that your movie would finally be there.  You had to reserve it and wait.  Wait for days.  All of this made you appreciate it more, learn about it, know the cast and director, and then, you would finally see it with a few friends and it was awesome.

It could be that I was a child then and I'm not anymore, but from where I stand, the 80s were so cool.

The 80s were great, and your posters make that plain to see.

It's this. Nostalgia is a tricky thing. Even when you know it's influencing you, it's hard to estimate just how much. Every decade has its good and bad movies, and people who were young in a specific decade look back on the movies of that decade with huge fondness.

Shit, I had a lot of time to waste a year ago.  Need to update that list.  Maybe one day.

I remember the first thing we would do, the car would still be moving with the mom driving and we'd already have one foot out the door to run to the DROP OFF BIN cause that was the place to get fresh returns and a chance at that elusive flick you've been tracking...  We'd also rent movies based on the cover art alone having no idea what the flick was about...

Ahhh 1980s videostores why did you have to go.  I miss being "pushed" by my friends beyond the curtain into the porn section...i even miss cursing out loud when that last elusive copy was finally there but oh no wait what's with the dimensions...fuck its a BETA!!

I can still smell  the free popcorn. :'(
