50 foot my arse.

Man I never put that together... A bridges vertical clearance is usually 16' (the usual minimum TX is 16'9" - throwing some engineering criteria at you here) so that would put her at just at 100' (I got 96' but the poster is skewed) or the bridge would have to have 35' clearance...   A standard car height is 4.5' and you could probably stack 4 of those cop cars so max of 18' clearance which would put her at 108'...  In fact the whole image is out of wack.  Height ~ 24 palms  so she got about 5'-6' of car making her 120' to 140' tall.

So yeah his arse!

And we need to apply the square-cube law.  Those shapely legs would never be able to structurally support that huge body.  Compare an elephant to an ant.

And that should see the price of the original drop by the dollars, at least

Crap, I just got this poster... and now I read that it breaks the laws of physics and it's probably dropping in value because of it!  Maybe if I get it restored someday I'll have John from Poster Mountain put some big 'ole elephant legs on her to try and salvage some of the value.   ;)

Indeed it was.  By the way, can you pop over to the Nov. acquisitions thread and answer the question I had for you?  Thanks bud!

As nice as they are, I'd feel odd putting up posters up that are not originals if my collection were originals otherwise. People might extrapolate originals might be 'fakes' cheapening the collection? Well, we all think different and it may well be about the art, putting up what looks nice, rather than what it is.

Thing about Mel's Steve is that he only has the S2's in the office (at least I think that's the case).  But he's a lawyer so authenticity likely means very little ;)

Dear peoplez of the peanut gallery, these high-quality commercial posters (along with some Kilians and Mondos) are excellent "side dishes" in this hobby, nothing more, nothing less.

They're also good conversation starters with clients and colleagues.   Most of them are quite clueless, just as I was four years ago (and probably still am), but I'm always pimping for this hobby....

Well, good news for anybody who wants to pick up one or more of these.

I noticed that Jack Gallery put them on sale for $128.

http://jackgallery.com/page.php?page=catalog&type=collection&collectionID=8&productTypeID=1

I paid an average of $200 for my nine S2s.

Have no idea how long the sale will last....

What I want to know is just how many of these things were printed?

What I want to know is how an ALIEN 1/2 sheet made the grade?
Looks sorely out of place, doesn't it?

I am probably just missing it but where does it state these are S2's?

Chris, these are the folks (Jack and Carolyn Solomon) who started the S2 Art Group, which created and printed these fantastic re-creations on their antique litho presses.

Jack Gallery was the retail outlet to buy the S2 prints.  ;)

Pretty sure they printed several thousand of each print back in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

It's unclear whether they can create more on demand now.

It appears they have sold out of some prints (e.g. Cleopatra), so I'm assuming they're just selling the existing stock.  Here's an older list from LAMP:

http://www.learnaboutmovieposters.com/newsite/index/COUNTRIES/US/Articles/S2-AFI-PosterList.htm

But in any event for $128 (+$25 shipping) most of these are exceptional bargains, in several cases less than 0.1% of the cost of an original, some of which (Frankenstein, Phantom of the Opera) are impossible to buy at any price.

I'd check the Emovie resale prices of these before buying any of these and pick the ones that resell for the highest prices:

http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/search/s2/sort/4/archive.html

Here are EMP's pics of most of the S2 posters:

Just remember these are commercial reproductions, with very slight, sometimes hard to find, alterations to the original artwork, as redesigned by the amazing S2 artists.  ;)

They are stunning to look at, no question about that!! The workmanship is A1.  clap clap

I know they are repros but i'm never going to be able to buy a real 50ft woman. I nearly bought one of those digital print versions but would be much happier with a litho version. I'm happy to pay more for the extra skill and time involved that goes into them.

Oh yeah.. for sure. I love the fact that they created these stunners, too.

With these made available again ( for how long is the question) one could put a nice S2 collection together, in rather short order.

Congrats on The Mummy purchase, too!

Thank you. I was thinking about purchasing Phantom of the Opera as well but I think The Mummy will just have to do for now.
