Those are great Chris.  I dig those posters and the dialogue from that genre:  "I needed a drink, I needed a lot of life insurance, I needed a vacation, I needed a home in the country. What I had was a coat, a hat and a gun." (Philip Marlowe)

Ves - I think you forgot your Big Clock and the three noirish gems Sunset Blvd, Bulldog Drummond and Street of Missing Men

But of course you have so many nice ones, who can remember right?  ;)

My neighbours told me about a suspicious fellow hanging around while I was away.  If you weren't in Canada...

Damn.  I thought I was more stealthy.  Nosey Aussies!

Anyways, I decided your house was like a fortress and all those Vincent Price posters freaked me out so I moved on!

Hence my need to find other collections to target ;)

the only thing wrong with that line is that it does not appear in any Raymond Chandler novel. It is a Michael Winner construct I believe.

Thanks. It was printed in 1950 with art by Hans Otto Wendt. Saw it in a film noir poster book (The Art of Noir) and went looking for it.

My favorite so far, above, would be Chris's The Hunted, and Ves's They Won't Believe Me. All the posters are great to look at, thanks for sharing.

I sure do love that Panther poster as well!  I remember it being in Art of Noir (a book by the way, that I browse through at least 3 times per week).

But the film's real title escape me at the moment (terrible, I know)?

Yes, Chris, the book is beautiful.

US title is 'Highway 301', which is also written in small writing on the poster within the german title.

THE ART OF NOIR is essential for all poster collectors, as is Laurence Bassoff's privately published CRIME SCENES (and the earlier poster books on Errol Flynn and Epics).

While on poster books, Sam Sarowitz/Posteritati's book of international film posters is a fabulous treasure trove.

Those posters are fantastic, they had to be as some of the movies are a reel snooze feast. This is the great thing about posters, they were there to get you into the cinema, and those really did the job. I wonder if people felt cheated by posters in those day's?

I don't have as many film noir posters as I'd like, but as said, the art of book sure gets you wanting more.

Those are greatness, Moviemem.

Some really good stuff being posted lately.

I was thinking "Moviemem sure has some unusually great pieces" then I realized you were John Reid!

Nice to see you here.

"Hollow Triumph" aka "The Scar" aka "The Man Who Murdered Himself" really is a great and underappreciated noir.

Not least of which owing to the cinematography of John Alton...
