Wow. I tried to get a few Hammer quads last week and was crushed in the bidding. I ended up with 2 of the items, but got smoked on everything else. That is a fantastic run of paper.

Paul, those are extraordinary quads.  I noticed they are all in frames.  Are they hanging or did you put them in the frames for pics?
Nice collection, especially "The Curse of the Werewolf."  Wow.

Great posters, particularly the Dracula, Prince Of Darkness.  Such a wonderful image on that one

Wow. They truly capture the era and the films. Absolutely stunning.

Beautiful coilection, Paul. Thank you for sharing them.

My guess is that those are acid-free sleeves encasing each quad. Perhaps Selwyn brand sleeves; not sure.

Paul, is the REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN quad a silk screen or letterpress?
I had a ROF a long time back, and may still have a photo somewhere, and the poster was a
regular litho with considerably more subdued colours.

ROF is probably the best of the Hammer Frankenstein films.

And folks, try Wikipedia for info on the history of Hammer Films.

In the big scheme of things SONG OF FREEDOM is a minor Hammer in relation to what the
studio is best known and collected for, if a major Paul Robeson title. But it's an ugly poster
and quite possibly a duotone second printing, given just what a big star Robeson was in Australia (yes, indeed he was).

Spot on Mr Carson they are Selwyn sleeve's, I was going to put all my Horror Quads in them, but seem to buy other posters instead,  The sleeves are quite costly, but make handling very easy, plus you can see them when you want without unfolding, and folding back up.

The Revence of Frankenstein is a 1961 re-release, the only first release I had seen went well out of my price range.

This is why there needs to be a quad book published! The one previously done is a good historical look at the quad, but I would like a nice coffee table book with a gazillion full color images dedicated to the format!

It's funny You chaps should mention a book, as when I was sending images to the fellow who was writing the horror film book, a collector friend of mine suggested the same thing, saying I should get my finger out and do one myself, as I have plenty of posters to chose from.......mmmm,  I may just look into it?

My wife illustrated a children's book, and the author self published.  If I remember right, they had to sell about 1500 books to break even.  Of course they had to pay the illustrator (my wife) and the graphic designer who put it all together.  If you were doing all the legwork yourself, that might take it down some.  That is all assuming the profit margins are the same for a large coffee table book as they are with a children's book.

Back to the topic though, those quads rock........in fact all of the paper in this thread is very nice.  I wish I had some!

Thanks.  You know what you did.

Yeah, there are some very nice pieces in this thread. All I can do is look at this time since this is a different area of collecting I haven't been able to get into yet.  Exciting to see others stuff.

Hi everyone!
My first post on this forum.
Got a few more posters from Japan.
By the way, I wrote an article about Japanese Hammer posters for the latest edition of CREEPY IMAGES (http://creepy-images.com/) in case anyone is interested about more information how these films were marketed there.

And quite a first post it is. Wow. Thanks very much for sharing these, Armin.

Are some of those speed or are all the long posters stb? The thing about them... they're actually scary and great color.

Thanks guys,

The vertical posters are all tatekans except for the DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE with the larger image of Chris Lee being impaled, and the HORROR OF DRACULA at the end of the post. Those two are press sheets.
