The original Mustang, Eleanor, from Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) is being auctioned by Mecum Auctions.  It's one of three "hero cars" used by the cast, one of eleven Mustangs used in the movie, and one of the coolest Mustangs in the world.

Great post, Brandon!

So sad to see the end of an era but I guess we should look at it as the beginning of a new one.

Thankfully, Baker will be moving forward with his art.
Some of his recent digital work is amazing.

Absolutely.  Mr. Baker is one of the best.  It's cool that he's evolving to the new school stuff.

Not actually a prop, but a piece of a set, that no longer exists, let alone the stage it was built on.  crying

This is a piece of a plaster column from Stage 28, at Universal. It later became known as 'the Phantom stage.' Back in 2006, when i was working there, I took my brother, who had come out here for work, on a little tour. The doors of Stage 28 were open and no production was using it or shooting on it, so we got to wander to our heart's content.

We walked up the old wooden stairs behind the opera boxes, and eventually made out way to Box 5, too. We then went up to the higher tier. Off to one side was a trash can that had some rubble in it, including this piece. It had likely gotten broken, when some crew member had allowed a piece of scaffolding to hit this part of the set.  moron1

I fished it out of the trash, asked the guard who was at the door if it was Ok to take (he said sure) and especially on a day like today, wanted to share it here.  devil 2

It's a shame that they had to tear that historic place down.  There's only so much room in an ultra prime real estate area like that, so it's understandable, but still sad to see it go.  It's cool that you got to see it when it was still there.

Hard to believe that such an accident would happen to a place like that, and then just to throw a broken piece in the trash can.  Wow.

Good eye in spotting that, and resurrecting it.  Very neat piece of history.  I wonder if there are any other similar things from there, that were saved before the demolition.  In any case, congrats.

Yeah, Brandon, i am so glad that I got to explore and walk thru that stage a number of times.  But even when walking thru with my brother that one time, there was collapsed scaffolding leaning against the plaster opera boxes. Their idea of "protecting" it, was to place clear plastic sheeting (visqeen) between the heavy metal scaffold supports and the 80 year old plaster.   hitself  moron1

Thanks, Steve.

Here is a shot of one of caps of the columns as it stood and appeared on Stage 28, before it all came crashing down. (Tho Universal says the set was dismantled and placed into storage, somehow, before the stage building was demolished).

It was off of one of these, that the piece I rescued, came from.

But here I am jealous as shit.
Haha we all understand it here I suspect.
Well done.

Plus, the 1925 Chaney version of Phantom is one of my all time faves, and has been since I first saw it, on regular 8mm film, that we rented from the local library, when i was about 13. I was hooked and in awe of his appearance. It also inspired me to get into the area of work I do today, too.
