Between you and I, we will get to the bottom of this Struzan's BS.  There are no sites out there with all his posters.  In the next week, I will add The Bear, All's Fair, Frisco Kid, Norseman, Second Thoughts, Car Wash & Killer Force (as soon as I get them and pass my grading system).  Maybe it will eventually make it the most comprehensive Struzan poster listing out there.  I will get the few others missing when I get a chance.  This sudden Struzan news has pushed the completist in me to get those few missing gems.
T

Awesome, yes I have been on your site every few months or so to check the Struzan section as one of my sources to help curate a list of what I have left to collect!

I still think you should take a closer look at the Futureworld poster art, specifically of the background as I think it is exactly taken from his comp artwork but just changed to grayscale and then they added in the photo(?) of the people running.

I also think you are missing the Return to Macon County half-sheet (Kinyon did the 1sh), Fake-Out, Incubus, INto the Fire, and All's Fair (super rare?).

Other pieces I am not sure if there are any actual posters or legitimate prints for include:

- Tilt (I am unclear on what his art for this even looks like)
- Raise the Titanic (possibly partial art in a Belgian poster?)
- Caboblanco (I think maybe some of the background art in the South American posters might be his?)
- Cross Creek
- Angels in the Outfield
- Batkid Begins
- the Floyd Norman doc

Also, what is the story about Newsies? (I did just finally order the [Limited Edition version] Oeuvre book yesterday so I plan to look through there when it arrives later this week)

And, yes I agree, this news may make me lose control next week on emp to get a few higher priced items I have been waiting on. I did just get my generous tax refund back.... hmmm.gif

Futureworld, agreed, I'll get when the price is right.
I see a couple Macon County, but one is in terrible condition and the other waaaaay too expensive.  I'll wait.
Fake-Out, if I see one in mint condition.  Condition is #1 for me.
Into the Fire, I own 2 copies, on my website.
All's Fair, I just bought.  Waiting on condition.
Incubus, when I find it.  Quite rare.
Cross Creek, not him for sure for OS.  He used the poster they chose and made it his, but I don't believe it was ever printed.  Sadly.
Angels in the Outfield, used on homevideo cover, but I don't think printed.

The others I don't know.  Were they printed?

I think there were 2 releases on Back to the Future prints.  I can't remember if the first one was signed but it was God awful.  Printing was horrible.  I trashed mine.  I have a Bottleneck signed by Drew, out of 150, 10/7/21 release.  Is that the one above?  I can't remember if Bottleneck did that first print (the one I trashed).  It was bad.

T

That's correct - the first release was from Hero Complex Gallery and I think the consensus was that the printing was a poor job. Then Bottleneck Gallery released a version with title/credits and an art print version - both were a much better print job.

There is an 'Angels in the Outfield' US video poster that has his artwork on, although it is in the form of the video box, so not the greatest. There are a few listed on eBay at the moment.

I had jonesmarcusmovieguy ping me on ebay cause I had Policy Academy 5 as Struzan, he is supposedly social media manager for them.  I asked if he happened to have a consolidated list of Drew's official theatrical works and got radio silence. I can try hounding them again :)

Yes Drew Struzan only did 1-4. Carl Ramsey did the poster for PA5 (you can see his signature hidden in the water under the alligator but there are some posters missing this portion of the art). But the finished poster IS based on Drew Struzan comp art according to Drew in his book The Art of Drew Struzan.

PA6-7 seems to be attributed to Morgan Kane in some places but I think this is Morgan Weistling instead.

It's actually quite surprising that there is no reference site.  Struzan has a list on his website, but no pictures and a lot of the titles were never printed as posters.  His two self published books are the same and not complete.  I am trying to build a complete collection on my website, but since I don't have any prior listing, I too am in the dark, adding pieces here and there with the help of fellow collectors.

Try again, Dale, if you can, it can't hurt.

T, I just finally received the Limited Edition Oeuvre book (took a while because at first they sent me the wrong book so I had to wait for them to resend it) and I agree it does not help solve the mysteries of some of these other titles he lists on his Oeuvre website (although the artworks presented in the book are really well done and beautiful).

From his website list, I think I may have identified a few other posters that "could be" his art but all of this googling and looking at grainy images is tedious and subjective without a definitive reference list as you note. Nevertheless, I am trying to work slowly through his website list to see if I can find any posters that could be attributed to him. The first of these I have found could be JUST A LITTLE INCONVENIENCE which seems to only have been used in Australia (I have found DB and 1sh with the art on it).

I'll keep searching and update you if I find anything else that looks suspicious for his art until we can hopefully get a fairly definitive list. (On that note, almost all of these artists from the 70s-80s do not have exhaustive lists of their works, which I find incredibly frustrating for me and unfortunate for them.)

So I've added quite a few Struzans of late.  You know, the completist in me.  Movies I've never heard of, which is totally against my collecting habits (I must have seen to collect).

Killer Force
Car Wash
March or Die (French) (already own US B&W)
Just a Little Inconvenience (Aussie)
High Ballin'
The Norseman
The Frisco Kid (UK)
Hotwire
Cabo Blanco (Spanish)
Kill Squad
Borderline
Second Thoughts
Heat & Dust (30x40) (already own US)
Dreamscape (French) (already own US and UK)
Jake Speed (Spanish)
Hyper Sapien: People from Another Star
Masters of the Universe (the correct one  ;D)
All's Fair
Hocus Pocus (B1) (already own US)

My website is down right now (my tech guy is on vacation in Thailand!), some posters are still in transit, but everything shall be up shortly.  I still have a list of 20 posters to acquire before I can call it complete.  Half of those titles may not even exist.

This is EXCELLENT!  I also have recently added some of these:

-JUST A LITTLE INCONVENIENCE (AUS 1sh)
-HOTWIRE (US 1sh)
-FROM ANOTHER STAR (US 1sh)
-HOCUS POCUS (US 1sh DS serial number on back) > Got this from an eBay seller named "HollywoodToyPoster" > I couldn't find anything suggesting the seller is nefarious and the poster seems to look legit
-STAR WARS EP 2 (US 1sh DS has watermark on back) > Got this from the same eBay seller as above
-ALL'S FAIR (US 1sh) > this was purchased from movieposters.com with the MOTU poster I asked everyone about > but this one measured almost dead on at 27 x 41
-MOTHER LODE (US 1sh; fist style) > also from MP.com > Are we absolutely sure Drew did this poster?  I still can't find any comp art he has posted showing it off.

I have been waiting to find a good MARCH OR DIE that wasn't French (no offense!) as I want to be able to put in the 27x41 portfolio with the rest of the Struzans.  I still haven't been able to find a FRISCO KID that wasn't larger than 27x41.  I am also about to bite the bullet on purchasing a Spanish CABO BLANCO (slightly larger than 27x41) because there doesn't appear to be any other options that showcase the full art :( Sadly it wont be able to fit in a portfolio.

JAKE SPEED (Spanish) !? This is great!  I have not seen this before!  Fantastic!  Very jealous.  Also very curious about the DREAMSCAPE (French)... Is this the "different color" art that is referenced in on his website? Or is it identical tot he US version but just a French size poster?

Super cool T!  If only I had your resources!  Can't wait to see them all up on the website!

But I forgot to mention.... This si the only non-photographic From Another Star poster I could find.  But I am not convinced it is Drew's work?

Is this the same one you found T?

Yeah, pretty sure it's Drew's.  Or at least some elements are, like the heads and the cactus.

Here are all my Dreamscapes since my website is down.

US, French (Not my picture, haven't received it yet and won't for months), UK and Thai.  I haven't seen this movie since it came out in 84.  I wonder how it holds up.

Ok yes that is great then!  Yeah, I just wasn't sure...  There are elements that seem to fit with his style but it just looked unfinished compared to other posters he did from that few year period.  But maybe this was just some comp art that the studio used for the poster instead of having him doing a nicer final version?  Who knows.  Have you actually seen any comp art for this?  I couldn't find anything out there.  Was pretty happy though as I was able to get this for $9 from MP.com and it was in pretty good shape--not sure if it was T condition though!

Here are all my Dreamscapes since my website is down.
Ah yes, i think this "BLUE" one is the one referenced as a different version on Drew's website (it is like BLUE and RED versions or BLUE and PURPLE maybe)...  Very cool!  From your website, it looks like it is a 40x60 inch poster from the UK!?  Wow that's very large!  But I suppose I will have to buy one at some point in the future.  That Thai one is interesting??  I really know nothing of Thai posters and artists (would love to but sounds like it could be fraught with authenticity problems based on some comments here?) but it looks like you have "Jinda" listed as the overall artist/designer of the Thai version who obviously incorporated elements from Drew's art into the poster with their own.  Very cool.

Anyway, Congratulations on the new and old acquisitions!  Indeed a wonderful collection!

I've been collecting Thai posters for a while, they are hard to come by.  I have a little collection on my website.  Authentic Thai posters from the 80s used to be "easy" to find.  Not anymore for some reasons.  Thailand now reproduces US One Sheets, which is what you've been reading.

The Dreamscape blue UK version can only be found in 40x60in, I believe.  I don't think it's very large, but I guess it's a matter of opinion.  I like posters from all around the world, and size is never a factor for me.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. Yes I did see at least one Thai poster from the last set of emp auctions (can't remember Tue vs Thu vs Sun) that caught my eye but ultimately I didn't bid on it. Perhaps some day I will be content with the size of my 1sh collection and start delving into Thai, Japanese, Italian, and French posters which seem to often have some really cool different art.

I like the "idea" of collecting posters from around the world but currently I am hung up on wanting everything to fit neatly into my 27 x 41 portfolios (I think the biggest size Baroque produces is for the British Quad).  I presume as this eventually becomes financially more difficult to keep up with I may be more inclined to start buying all sizes of poster more regularly that can easily store in a flat file cabinet--but for now I am trying hard to resist going down that slippery slope!  I keep seeing all of these really cool Italian posters I would love to bid on but then I remember "Where the hell am I going to store them?"

I have heard a lot about those portfolios, I have seen pictures of them, but I've never seen them in person.  I guess people seem to like them.  I started collecting in 2001 and bought a flat file as soon as I got to 100+ posters if I recall.  Being French, I had bought quite a few French posters (I own more than 2,000 now) and needed something big.  All my Italian and large French posters are folded in half and stored in drawers on top of each other.  A drawer takes about 180 large French posters.  It works.

Under your bed is also an option   ;)

T

Here's the B1 for Hocus Pocus.  I love Japanese posters.

Any thoughts on this FUTUREWORLD STYLE C poster possibly being Drew Struzan artwork?  I can't find any posts etc. online from Drew Struzan showing this as part of any comp art he did.
