Still don't 'get' 30x40s, when they aren't UK quads.

Did they have special boxes to fit 'em in as well, or were they more for pinning up?

30x40s are on cardstock, so can be used in outdoor advertising, or pinned up in public places.

Thanks fella.  Didn't know about the card stock angle...

In other news, I was bidding, albeit momentarily on 50 Bond US press stills from the Connery to Moore era.  Only six or so stills shown, some were duplicates.

I got as far as $500.  Went for $3750 Hammer with $1050 BP.

I actually have no words for this.  $100 per still!

These i'd like to see, too.

Edit.. I found the link, Rich. Those photos are stunning!  bed1  And a nice, winning $20K bid, too.

my guess is that there were a lot more than 50 stills.

i looked at those Metropolis stills and they were great. each one had a strip on back that said something like 'the library of Fritz Lang' that had to be 85 years old

Rich, did you get to see them in person?

And with the set estimated at $2-3K, and then selling for $20K, is another awesome example of a classic, bidding war between 2 people that just HAD to have these photos. And that they were right from Lang's personal collection was a HUGE plus, too.

Estimates really mean nothing - especially when it comes down to unique items with no previous sales records...

held them in my greasy paws.

on reserves.. they are really meaningless on most items at Profiles

they purposely start so much at just $200. It's much like starting a $5000 poster at $1
you know it won't go for $1

And also shows how wrong or "off" estimates can also be, even when similar or like items have been auctioned in the past.

Good result.  One sold on June 1 for $350.

According to the Expressobeans thread for the print, there are 2 versions - 1 for the Austin premier that is signed and not numbered (100 print run); 1 that was a drop, signed and numbered (500 print run).

Ive never looked at or priced posters for TV shows or series before, but that seems like a nice return. And it doesnt look like HA has offered it before, either.

I have a talent for ineptitude apparently. Bit bored with MPs so gave a run at some travelers but $200 bids failed. Guess I'll unpack my bags and stay home!  :'(

Stumbled across prior Sig Auctions. The last Sig earned 42x last night's auction:

Their auctions results have been discussed many times before of course (I think most recently here - http://www.allposterforum.com/index.php/topic,12925.msg231622.html#msg231622), but the way it is laid out here really shows what remarkable growth they have gone in the last decade.

Their weekly auctions average price is about $100 per lot. It's amazing to do that kind of volume and maintain an average like that.
The signature auctions are even more impressive and show how Heritage's efforts to grow the market are really paying off.  The earliest ones on your list did $700-800K and had 500-600 buyers, now Heritage's offerings regularly obtain 2.5-3x that dollar number and 2.5x the number of participants.

Is it any wonder that they are the undisputed leader in posters auctions? I think I've said before that if you add up the number of $100K individual poster sales from every auction house, not only has Heritage sold 85% of them, but that they've sold 25% of them in the last year or so.

I’m kinda giving up on their weekly auctions.  I can’t afford anything there anymore.  It all goes for way above what it’s worth.  I’ll still do the Sig auctions, because there are less people bidding $5k plus, but the small ones are just impossible.
