My 4 year old is fine with it. And Monsters Inc, Frozen, Nemo, Iron Giant, etc... she also told me recently she wants to see Star Wars, King Kong and Godzilla.  I think my 6 year old just gets really wrapped up in things and is very affected by all the highs and lows and dramatic music. When she watches cartoons she prefers Miyazaki (Totoro, Ponyo, Kiki). Even then it’s clear she would rather be watching live action films. Her favorite flicks are Top Hat, Shall we Dance, Roman Holiday, My Favorite Wife, It Happened One Night, Modern Times, Singin in the Rain, etc...

I am your six year old! Introduce her to more screwballs. Easy Living, Hands Across the Table, Thirty Day Princess, Bringing up Baby, The Shop Around the Corner, The Awful Truth, The Thin Man series. Most Preston Sturges written films would be appropriate.

Laughing Gravy is the best early sound Laurel and Hardy short. It's incredibly sweet but the original ending is sad. Funny, but could cause crying

A 1929-1930 RR POTO half sheet Ive not seen before. Beautiful imagery with light tinting to the characters. It had some restoration, which looks to have been done quite well, too. Not having been paper backed or placed on linen, I wonder if it was gel backed?

Interesting.
The only copy of this poster I am aware of I helped the FBI recover in the Haggard case (he had purchased it from DeLuca for around $15,000). I don't recall if it was part of the stuff sold in the Marshall auction earlier this year or not, but I thought it had not come up yet.
This could be a new copy of course.

Hey Sean,

Another copy) and maybe this is the copy you're referring to, did sell on July 27 of this year for $2020.00 by Gaston & Sheehan Auctions. The way the "country of origin" line looks--partially cut off, almost like a stencil got in the way if the borders were airbrushed? Or maybe a legit mistake when this piece was printed, (this is also mentioned in the auction notes).

A pic was also offered of the verso, showing a larger green stain.

Do you think this is the copy you assisted with? From the description of the damage, it sure sounds like it could be the same copy that sold on ebay.

The ebay copy mentioned earlier is the same copy that was sold back in July. The same border tears are evident in both, as well as the partially incomplete "country of origin" line, plus the same, large green stain on the back of the piece.

Yes, that was the Haggard copy sold through the Marshals Service auction.
I think both times the sale price was a good deal on an only-known copy piece.

Sin of Nora Man insert sold poorly tonight, 0.1% the 1S got recently. The super-tacky 1933 "floating heads" did not help  eyeroll

*****

The much-better HS sold for $1.1K in Nov. 2014:

*****

Somebody committed an eBay sin by listing either the insert or HS - can't remember which now - in the wrong "movie memorabilia" section, "movie ads" as I recall. It sat there for at least two years. I would check periodically....

It's not just the floating heads; it's the lack of side-boob.

I have a feeling if the insert kept the coitus more ferarum position, but with a side view, it would have fetched far more than the paltry $382!

Picky point that shows my engineer OCD.  $382.40 is 1% of $38,240.00, not .1%

I think the bigger factor in the price was that the top third of the poster (including the floating heads) were re-created.

mrs.miniver sold a poster!!  ;D

Described as a C-10 mint, rolled, Undated Revenge of the Jedi OS. (mrs m says it was a rolled, never folded copy, and opted to back it, anyhow).

With a BIN of $4450.00 plus $32.50 for shipping.

In the blurb, s/he says;

"This rolled original is destined to be the first $10,000 Star wars 1-sheet! It's a dream, or, Holy Grail item."

...which is not accurate by any stretch of imagination.

Even as a non-Star Wars collector, I am aware of the One Day Only 1 Sheets that (at least) Bruce has sold for $20k+

mrs.miniver is a he.  8)

Matt Shapiro is his name and he certainly likes to tout the "investment quality" of his movie posters, that's for sure.

It's got to be ghost account buying it for him. I can't see anyone paying that much for a poster. It's just waaaaay too much.
Even a novice could do a google search and figure out in less then 5 minutes how overpriced that poster is.

if I had a NM undated, rolled never folded, I would be asking $3995 for it and that price has been realized.

at $4450.00, it's a bargain by Miniver prices. surprised he didn't have it as 12,500

From him, yes, it is a bargain for sure.
Also, my apologies. I retract my last statement. I re-read the post and I originally skimmed right over the "undated". Of course that does indeed make a significant difference.

An incomplete set of 6 lobbies (without title card) for Guys and Dolls went for a very high $157.
Usually these cards go for $10-15/ea.
Looking at the history, 2 bidders really wanted it.

A few days ago I found a similar but different prior sale:

http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/3335377.html

******

I consulted with Jeff/erik1925 to see if he could track down other prior sales of either "style" but he quickly figured out the dealio:

The first thing I noticed on the copy emp sold is that it looks like a cut and pasted head/face of the monster was placed over the printed image.

If you look at bruce's copy... look at the printed image of the windmill in the background.. and then notice that part of the photographic image overlaps and covers part of the windmill. It looks sloppy and is obvious that it doesnt match the rest of the poster. When compared to the one on ebay, its easy to see that the 2 posters are identical, in every other way, aside from Frank's head.

And if it is a cut and pasted job on the one emp sold, its odd that wasnt mentioned, in conjunction with the fact that the borders were all trimmed off on the emp copy also.

Again, maybe its not a cut and pasted head on the emp copy.. but it sure looks like it was added, to me.

*****

I was sure he was right, and I checked in with another expert, who agreed the head was pasted on but it could well have been issued that way, like many 30x40s from this era with glued on images.
