so Dracula is now the #1 priced poster sold at auction and the French Casablanca has to be the highest price for anything on that title and for any 1940s poster

Interesting to see this OS (and a few other that have already been auctioned) as mounted on cardstock. Is mounting OS to cardstock something new?

This sold for $500.00 plus the BP

I wonder if Kirk Hammett is the proud new owner of the Dracula or Phantom one-sheets... or both?

DeLuca on FB saying he got the "Phantom".

DeLuca on FB saying he got the "Phantom".

He never wastes any time letting the world know what he's acquired.

Good for him.

It's a really great OS, no doubt about it.

The same guy who bought the Metropolis 3 sheet a couple years ago (the Ken Schacter debacle)... it was posted about quite a bit here on the forum.

Here's his website url:

http://ralphdeluca.com/

And using FB again, like he did in 2012, after his HA/Berwick wins:

http://www.allposterforum.com/index.php/topic,3277.msg67811.html#msg67811

When DeLuca wants a poster... he GOES for it... and usually seems to get it.

32k, below 45 min:

you mean "below the low estimate" which clearly had noting to do with the reserve on the item, which in this case was 15k, which was the opening bid on the item

Unreal. SOld with it being $13K UNDER the low estimate.  faint2.gif

to continue the above comment, they generally have a formula that relates the low estimate to the opening bid. so some items I had low est at $300 started at $90 (a 30% ratio) and $1000 low est was $500 open (50%). for the DTESS 6sh, because the first bid was $15k, it is obvious the ratio on that poster was 30% as well

you can be sure of this: the opening bid on any item in their auction will win if there is no competition. No reserve will be above opening bid for anything

Lost the battle today  gun1  gun2

I expected to lose since there were 79 watchers - the mostest - at least one of whom had "Pulp Fiction Fever" worse than me  faint2.gif

A record price at auction and HA's "guesstimate" of $300-600 qualifies as an all-time LOL/WTF   >:D -

Couldn't find a prior sale of this, seller told me via email:

New message from: bigdplus (3,208Red Star)
As You can see, the movie poster is very, very Beautiful. I bought this in 1970 at a convention that I
put on in Oklahoma City. It was called, MULTI-CON 70. We had Buster Crabbe as our main
guest. Back then, you could buy an ACTION ONE FOR BETWEEN $200 AND $500. So my money
did not go too far because there was so much wonderful stuff to be bought. This Con was the First in
The Southwest to have over 500 people attend, the First to have more than 100 Dealers Tables and
the First one to have a big name Movie Star as a guest.

Am surprised Attack of the 50ft Woman only made $6.5k.  Thought in times past this was a $20k poster...  Not that I know anything about this genre.

Seemed to me that quite a few of the "iconic" 50s posters did worse at eMovie's Halloween auction than they have done in the past, and there was some discussion on that here too. Makes me think it is time to step in and buy a few...  bed1
