The copy of B&theB (1991) that was discussed in the Mid-Auction thread, sold tonight for $1792.50 (inc the BP).  faint2.gif

Congrats to HA, and I'm sure the consignor is jumping thru hoops!  clap clap  thumbsup.gif

The consignor will be having sleepless nights hoping that the "winner" pays up - one of the more crazy auctions i have seen in my 2 years in the hobby

The final, winning bid went far beyond the $800.00 mentioned last night (over double). And, as Rich mentioned, 2 people wanted this poster... so the battle ensued.  piratemel

I would think that the winning bidder will more than likely pay.

This LB copy of the 1938RR for White Zombie had been listed for a while by this particular seller. The price was dropped again to $799.99, and I see that as of Sept. 1st, it's no longer available, so likely sold. Perhaps they even took an off ebay offer that was a little lower.

In any case, Ive always loved this imagery and think Bela's eyes have it on this particular US OS.  bed1

Bummer.  I had my eye on that one, but apparently missed the price drop.  Great image.

Ouch! I paid three times this during HA sig. Shows that Ebay is the place to pick up bargains if you're patient....

Thought you liked overpaying.
Isn't 3x the previous price what you paid for the TGFH half?

Didn't you get 5 posters, though?  You can always sell the other 4 and Veronica Lake will end up even cheaper than the Ebay auction.

I gave three away, don't think they would sell for anything much. Nobody on MOPO wanted Alan Ladd for FREE.

Sold for seven times the high estimate:

A still collection sold for more than 10x high estimate:

Nothing comparable in poster world:

A couple weeks ago, I was watching this B1.  Relatively high result.  The Sundance Kid was the underbidder at $138.

I'd really like to see the movie someday, but it's only shown in select IMAXs. Looks awesome.

Anyone know what happened to that cool Dirty Dozen quad at EMP last night? Did it get pulled?

From EMP  -"We noticed that there was an issue with an item that we had on auction that you were bidding on (or if you were not bidding, you viewed the auction). The item is 1f001 DIRTY DOZEN British quad 1967 different McCarthy art, ultra rare, likely for London premiere!

Note that we had thought that this was a London premiere poster. However, while it is still quite rare, it appears that this poster was not solely printed for the London premiere as we originally believed, and it was listed in the English pressbook.
Because of the short time before the auction was scheduled to end, we decided it would be best to cancel this listing and relist it in our December MAJOR auction with a more appropriate description"

Thanks Damo! Good info there. It was out of my budget, but a really cool poster, I'm sure it'll do well in December.

Big Trouble in Little China quad sold for $500.

Great poster, but steep price.

I couldn't agree with you more. I love the art and would love to own it.
However, I would only spend that much money on a poster if I really, really like the movie a lot.

Great poster, but steep price.

I've had a number of these the past few years and the price is definitely increasing. In four years the ones I have had have doubled.

Demand for this poster is definitely strong!

I have a 60x40 poster of this movie. Now THAT is an incredible poster.
